I have been seeing Dr. K Charles Kim since 2005. He has performed breast augmentation (2005), tummy tuck (2005), lipo (2006), breast reduction and lift (2015 and injectables (Kybella and Botox). For my Mom, he has performed a tummy tuck (2005) and face lift (2017). I can't even begin to express my complete satisfaction with the entire staff. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Pearson was so attentive and in touch to what the patient needs before, during and after surgery to ensure the safest procedure and quickest recovery. She spent about 30 minutes with me, following my Mom's surgery, covering my Mom's condition and blood work. The things she identified explained so much of what my Mom has been dealing with for over a decade and none of my Mom's medical doctor's had called attention to the low red blood count condition (the issues caused by low chronic red blood count explains so much). Dr. Pearson was sure to give me solid guidance on how to make sure the medical problem was investigated following my mom's surgery as well as provide such amazing tips on how to care for my Mom following the surgery. It was the perfect blend of being home while knowing you were in the safe care of an RN who had all the critical care resources needed to monitor/care for a patient following surgery. Sandy was so attentive to every need of my Mom and I. Her calling was to be a nurse and she is an amazing one at that! I hate to give a negative review but I feel like I should warn people about my experience here. First off, the girls at the front desk are very sweet, so one star for that! BUT... I came here to get filler for some acne scars on my face and, if there was any filler left I wanted it injected into my chin to make it more defined. During the consultation Dr. Kim looked at my face and acknowledged that the acne scars needed to be filled in and said we would have plenty left to fill my chin. Great, I said sign me up, let's do it today! I pay, we move forward. So, he begins by filling in my chin first. I PASS OUT (no drugs were given) and wake up and they nicely make sure I'm ok - I guess I fainted so he quit injecting - thank God! He hands me a mirror and my chin is HUGE. Ok, whatever, I understand they make it big because it goes down a lot. I'm still a little shaken at this point from fainting and not feeling super well, but, I just handed over $500 and don't want it to go to waste... He offers to keep injecting into my chin. But wait - what about my acne scars?? I let him know that was my main concern. He now tells me he doesn't see any acne scars and starts speaking to his assistant in another language and they are arguing - she's pointing to areas on my face and he's looking very nervous, like he has no clue what to do. At that point I realized I better not let him inject if he doesn't know what he's doing. I ask to come back another time and he says yes, we can do touch ups on my chin - there is PLENTY left in the siringe I just bought. After doing my research, I find out surgeons are not suppose to save an opened siringe of filler once it's been opened because it could be contaminated. Oh boy! This review is only for Susan, the office manager, and for Nina, the receptionist/ consultant who's only been there for 3 months. Their manners are non-existent. They are sketchy, rude, and untrustworthy. Susan barely speaks any English, and when she speaks Korean, she doesn't listen to the prospective client. She just talks and talks over and at you. As a smart consumer, I always do a background check on all of the MDs before I give them my business. So, when his name "K. Charles Kim" wasn't found in the CA Medical Board license look-up system, I called the office. The phone call with Susan was just fine, until she immediately became defensive when I asked how the doctor spells his legal name. She didn't know how to spell it. (Susan and Nina both apparently don't know how the doctor spells his legal name, because when you look it up the way Susan and Nina spell it, this doctor is not recognized as a licensed MD.) I input the spelling of his name 5 different ways, but none of them are recognized by the board. Susan went on to say that NO ONE ever asks about his license in all of the years he's worked as a doctor! Oh, really??? I highly doubt that "no one has ever inquired!" She even made it a point to tell me that I was strange for asking about his name, and that I would care to look up his medical license. "No one asks about his license!" she said, in her irritated and exasperated voice. To make matters worse, she berated me for bothering to speak with her, after Nina couldn't find the correct spelling of his name. In fact, she berated for 5 minutes until I couldn't take it anymore and told her how unprofessional she was being. After demanding that that I shouldn't care about his license since "Beverly Hills already gave him a license", she demanded that I got to Google.com and see what his previous patients wrote about him on the internet reviews. Really, Susan??? First of all, since when do cities give out MD licenses???? And, since you like these online reviews written by customers so much, here's one for you. You're a moron! She's obviously ignorant in too many ways!!! I'm not asking about his business license!!! I'm inquiring about his MEDICAL LICENSE to see if he's had any suspensions, complaints, and disciplinary actions. As far as the CA Medical Board is concerned, he's not licensed. Perhaps, it's because Susan can't spell his name correctly! I really wanted to go to this dr., but the two clowns who work for him make it impossible. Their lack of intelligence, integrity, ability to listen and communicate, along with Susan's ill temper make it impossible to even want to go there unless you have a penchant for abuse, aggression, and a bad temper. Don't waste your time there. ***********UPDATE********I just read the doctor's response from 9/12. Just fyi, "Kyoung Chul" does not have the same meaning as "Charles", nor does "Kyoung Chul" translate to "Charles". Just sounds like something is not right about the way they explain things over there. As a consumer, I would hope that service providers, including plastic surgeons, know what they are talking about at all times. BTW, I take great pride in my life, and care deeply about how I am treated by everyone, especially service providers, incl. doctors, which is why I do my research and write my reviews. My mother who always had lovely skin had been complaining about the skin under her eyes sagging lately so when she visited, my sister and I took her here for the Ultherapy. My mom is nurse and tends to be pretty skeptical of most cosmetic procedures. The consultation she received was wonderful. My mom agreed to get the Ultherapy and the results were amazing. She loved the nurse who provided the treatment. He was so thorough and explained everything in detail. (I'll have to get his name and will update this post later.) Afterwards, you could really see the results. My mom couldn't stop going on about how the bags under her eyes appeared to disappear. (I know we were told that the effects really begin to show up until later but really, you could see the results right away!) Because of how wonderful my mom looked, my sister decided to get the treatment as well. She had gotten ultherapy once before in San Francisco and had been happy with the results but that was nothing compared to her results at CK Plastic Surgery. It apparently has to do with the number of lines that are used (?). I wasn't really clear on the actual technical details but she looked great as well. I have to stay out of the four doctors I was assisting at that facility i never had to consol an upset dissatisfied patient of his. Had an appointment for an consultation with Dr. Kim scheduled for Saturday, December 27th at 1:00. I received a call from the office the day before confirming that I was coming. Arrived to a very nice office. Reminded me of the Vegas strip when you get off the elevators. A big picture of Dr. Kim with numerous signs on the walls. Went into the office,which is really nice and the Receptionist was nice. Filled out the paperwork and 10 minutes later my name was called. Went into a nice room where a very nice 20 something lady stated she would be doing my consultation and answering my questions since Dr. Kim was in surgery. How can he be in surgery and have a consultation schedule at the same time? Oh, I guess because he was never going to talk to me to start with. First flag, this is an assembly line office which works off of volume of patients. I inform the nice lady that my consultation was for a tummy tuck and breast lift and how could she possibly answer any questions or concerns I may have without first examining me! She acknowledged my statement and then took me to a dressing room where I waited another 30 minutes for this doctor who was in surgery. After waiting almost an hour I put my clothes on and walked out of the dressing room. I went to the receptionist and I informed her that this was not acceptable and that I would not be wait any longer. As I walked out the door, I told the receptionist to let Dr. Kim know that he could have made at least $15,000 or more in the next couple of months but lost the opportunity because of a lack of professionalism.
