Solid sit down chinese. Good menu and portions.

It may have been an off night for the chef, but our $40 meal (two basic entrees and two appetizers) was inedible and ended up in the trash. The General Gau's chicken was over-cooked and dry, not sure if the sesame beef was actually beef (or some mystery meat),. Affordable and good Chinese food!! Must try ck shanghai fried rice

A great Chinese restaurant, , and doesn't smell and stink up your clothes thankfully. I like the white rice and the vegetable bean curd soup. The beef with broccoli and chicken with vegetables are made with great quality sauces and meats. I don't know how they do it but they are good on my list. Last time we were here I was a little disappointed. The service is always attentive and this time was no different. I found the duck to be a little dry and way too salty. The scallion pancakes were oily and rubbery, not what our usual experience has been. Perhaps just an off night, but it was not an overly busy night. Had dinner here with 10 other friends on a Friday night at 7:30 PM in September. The fact that the restaurant wasn't even half full at the peak of the weekend dining hour should have been a sign. The food is your average Chinese restaurant greasy food. Not much to write home or to complain about. The reason for the low rating though was the rude and unfriendly waitress who did not smile even once the entire two hours we were there. She was very pushy in taking the orders, never said "please" or "thank you", and basically made us all feel unwelcome the entire time. If you are in service business, the first rule is to be polite and pleasant to your customers, right? I will never go back to this restaurant. Period. read more

I passed by this place on my way to nyc from Boston with a hungry appetite. And it was a disappointment. I happen to be their first customer of the day but I couldn't find anyone in the restaurant to seat me. It was completely empty. It happened to be their inspection day and I can understand that. However, they were all so invested in pleasing the inspector they forgot about their customers. After I was seated, more customers came in. And as I suspected, their service was slooooowwww. They took a long time to take my order of Peking spicy noodles. When my order came which was an average wait, it was wrong and they also forgot my soup. The waitress quickly fixed the issue and got me my correct order which is the best part of this review. However, the dish fell short on flavor. It was super bland, no spice at all. It looked delicious but tasted like boiled spaghetti. The soup was alright. I then regretted walking in this restaurant as there were early signs of inferior food and service. And I left the restaurant unsatisfied and still hungry for a delicious meal. Definitely my first and last, even if I'm ever in the area again. Really not bad as a suburban chinese food option. Better than most others I have had. I was really craving Chinese food today (I am Chinese) and didn't want to drive in to the city. This was close by so we decided to give it a shot. I would say my husband and kids enjoyed it also. Authentic enough and tasty. I've tried lunch there about 3 times (including takeouts) after my asian friend kept raving how she loved this place (She may be bias about it since it's in her hometown). I was not blown away at all, and as a matter fact, very disappointed. The first time I had seafood delight lunch special when I'm expecting a light (white) sauce with seafood and vegetables, but instead the skimpy seafood dish was overpowered by dark and salty soy based sauce and very minimal vegetables. One other time we ordered the peapod shoots sauteed with garlic and not only was it oily but really overcooked (instead of bright greens, it was the dark overcooked green color). The food is nothing to rave about and the portions are small. Overall, I thought the food was just average or a tad below average. Parking can also be tough during lunch hours. The staff is average and nothing exceptional. Lunch is still about $8 - $10 per person, which I consider pricey (it doesn't include soup or a chicken wing either). All in all, it's not really authentic chinese food that you get in Chinatown. read more

Afer reading the other reviews I had to write this. This is probably one of the best chinese restaurants in the Boston area. i The owner and chef is the famous C K Sau. He used to be in Chinatown but sold that place and moved out here. He has been written up in the N Y TIMES and it was one of Julia Child;s favorite restaurants. She and others would phone CK and make a reservation and leave the menu to him!! He is a master chef. One problem in a chinese restaurant is that you cant judge it from one visit since you may not order the right thing. Ask C K if he is there or one of he waiters. Is it expensive? Are you kidding? Compared to American restaurans it is a bargain. See what an entree cost at Blue Ginger. Trust me..this is a great place. read more

They make the best Chinese food. We've ordered takeout from them for 10 years and it is always excellent. They are always fast and we love their scallion pancakes. Their chicken with ginger and scallions is one of the best meals I've ever had. We have always found the people friendly and nice to deal with. read more

Came here on Christmas Eve and overall the food was pretty good. Had the Peking duck which was great, but the service was a bit lackluster. Had to attempt multiple times to get a server's attention just to get some more tea, but overall if you're looking for good Chinese food, I'd definitely recommend coming here. read more

We stopped by this Wellesley based Shanghai restaurant after church on Sunday. It was rather quiet, but we decided to go in anyway at the recommendation of my brother who has been there before. Apparently the owner, owned a Shanghai styled restaurant in Chinatown, so we wanted to try the suburban version. Please note that I am quite picky when it comes to Chinese food let alone Shanghai food. My favorite place is not nearby, it is in Flushing, Queens, but that is another story to be told. But, I do use it as a reference standard. We ordered 4 dishes as part of the dim sum menu. Beef Scallion Pie, Stir Fried Rice Cakes with Pork, Little Dragon Dumplings (Shao Long Bao), and Chive Pie. The best dish was the Beef Scallion Pie, it was crispy, hot and delicious. The Rice cakes were passable, but they were a bit salty and oily. The little dragon dumplings were good, but the wrapper was a bit too thick and the dumpling could have been juicier. The chive pie was good. All in all it was a good meal, and better than other restaurants of this type in Metrowest, but I long for Flushing. read more

Went there at the suggestion of friends in the late afternoon on a Sunday. Ordered appetizers and sure glad we did not order anything else. All of the four appetizers came out cold or barely luke warm. The waiter took back the freezing boneless spare ribs and returned with them luke warm and tough as shoe leather. The waiter went to the lady at the desk (possibly owner or manager) and expressed our disappointment with he based on friends' advice and could care less. A sure no return destination. read more

I was disappointed with my meal here. Though the service was reasonable and I got a table quickly, the food was simply not that good. For the money, I was expecting piping hot, mouth-watering, authentic Chinese food, and that's not at all what I got. While the appetizers were quite good, though not authentic, the sesame chicken was ok at best, and the vegetable fried rice was way to oniony, undercooked, and had practically no soy sauce in it. I nearly sent the rice back to the chef. Also, the mains don't come with any kind of rice on the side, and they're $14+! I won't be coming back here again. read more

We've only ever done takeout here, so I can't speak to the in-restaurant dining experience, but the food is AMAZING. Our regular dishes are the scallops with yu-shiang garlic sauce, and an eggplant beef dish that I can't remember the name of. But I took off one star because it was SO expensive! A few days ago I stopped in for dinner & had 2 goals: test their food and get advice about a menu for 10 guests two days later at this restaurant. The woman who seated me was listening to both objectives and suddenly walked off. I tried explaining my needs to the server. She took my order, promised to return but only left the bill. when the restaurant is not extremely busy, CK will make the best chinese food west of LA. When it is busy, the quality is merely good. and there are a lot of ok dishes on the menu so one has to take some care; still, at its best it is better than my other favorites, East Ocean City and Sichuan Gourmet. read more

I would recommend dining in here but not taking out. The food is much better quality when you eat there and has much bigger portions. It is a nice atmosphere, not very busy, but often the meals may seem a bit rushed. The service is very quick. They have the best cold sesame noodles I have ever had. Boneless spare ribs can be a bit fatty. They're great with sesame seed allergies. We've had no real issues here, it is our go to chinese place. read more
