I accidentally looked myself out of my car at 3am. I called AAA at about 3:30am. With in 10 minutes of placing my call with AAA, I received a call from Skyler with Clackamas River Towing & Auto Salvage. He explained to me he was in Estacada finishing up a job out there. He would be in Mulino as soon as he could. It is now 4:39am. My car is unlocked and I'm set to go. Skyler was the most polite gentleman. Was very gental on the car. This driver should be fired, he towed our car from Barton Park last Tuesday (07/19/21) through AAA, but the driver required payment as an impound. Not only did he scam us out of $371, but he charged AAA twice. AAA made it right with us Immediately. We just got towed from halfway up the mountain on the Sunday night of Memorial wknd. When I asked for a ballpark amount Amanda did so, then broke down the costs so we knew why. It took the operator about an hour to reach us, his name was Jason, and he was fast, adept, friendly and professional. No one LIKES to have to be towed, and I appreciated Amanda's calm demeanor while taking my information. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't robbery either. Given that it was after hours AND a holiday I felt the cost was fair. Their professionalism throughout the experience really helped smooth the situation. Thank you! read more

What an unfortunate incident for both Clackama River Towing and myself. This incident could have been easily avoided with a little digression used by the driver(s)! What makes it worse is that the owner of Clackamas River Towing apparently did not think it worth his involvement to in any way to avoid this complaint. On 09 May 2017 I was test driving my 1936 Ford convertible sedan, a show car from 1963 and still a veRating Eek! Methinks not. ry presentable and valuable, rare show car. I ran out of gas about 2 miles from my home. Rather than inconvenience any one to rescue me, and in that I have AAA insurance, I called for a tow. Clackamas River Towing was dispatched and Mike showed up with the rollback truck about an hour after my call. I have had cars hauled several times over the years and have always been very attentive as to how the tow lines were attached and have assisted where safe and reasonable, even steered the car on to the flatbed, never a problem or objection from the driver, most often appreciated by the driver. Mike took exception, he warned me to stay clear of the tow cable when I showed him what I thought was the best cable attaching point to the front axle. He did have nylon straps which I appreciated as the undercarriage/axle is all painted. As he hooked up the cable, I pointed out that with the centered attachment, the cable angle was liable to damage the bottom of the grill when when pulled taught. I suggested he just push the strap a foot to the side and the cable would clear the grill. I suggested that by pulling the car the way he had it hooked up might cost his company several thousand dollars in repair to remove and repair or replace the grill. Mind you I made these suggestions very tactfully and politely, my main concern being the protection of this very valuable and rare car. Again, Mike warned me to stay clear of the cable and let him do his job. I voiced my concerns again about potential damage. Mike then became rather belligerent and said he would not haul my car, I would have to get someone else. I politely tried to reason with him so I wouldn't be abandoned and stranded for another hour or more while AAA sent another tow truck. He would not listen, angrily stowed his cable and straps and drove off! Obviously this was very unprofessional and left me with further delay and concern with rescuing my car. AAA did send another truck, same company, different driver. Another hour delay getting the car rescued. Kyle arrived, with a bit of an attitude, obviously forewarned of the incident and armed with a waiver if any damage occurred as a result his following my direction, this was fine with me, save my car! Kyle had no nylon straps to protect the painted undercarriage but finally found some rags to wrap the cable hooks on the axle. The car was loaded and delivered to my home and unloaded. Kyle did seem to temper his attitude once he saw I was being quite reasonable and polite and genuinely concerned about my car. I did call Clackamas River Towing to file a complaint and asked for a call back. Terry Nelson, the company manager did call back, was polite and apologetic, said all trucks should have had the nylon straps. I wrote a three page letter to Don Wilhite, owner of the company, with all the details and asked that he get back to me and perhaps reverse the charges against my AAA account. That was over three weeks ago, no response from Don Wilhite! I hope that I never have to use Clackamas River Towing again, although I may, but besides Mike being very unprofessional and discourteous, I am disappointed that Don Wilhite, owner of Clackamas River Towing didn't feel it important enough to even respond to my letter of complaint. Use this company at your own digression! read more

These guys are awesome! Highly recommended. I got stuck in the snow on a back road off of highway 26 near silent rock. Multiple rigs were used as the snow was extremely slushy and I was a mile in with 2 feet of snow on the ground. They offered to bring a KAT to pull me free, but understood I couldn't afford the extra cost. The were beyond professional and courteous. After a few hours they finally winched me free. Stellar guy. Yesterday I was headed back to Portland from Breitenbush Retreat Center via Estacada when I spotted a car ahead that had done a 180 and landed in the ditch. It was a friend who had been on the same retreat at Breitenbush looking a bit dazed after swerving to avoid hitting an animal crossing the road. I turned around and went back. She was okay just a bit stunned. Her car didn't fare as well. Side air bag deployed, front bumper half way off, substantial dents in side panels. I took her to the 76 station in Estacada, called AAA and within half an hour there was a flat bed tow truck in our vicinity. He had texted me but due to minimal cell signal strength communication was difficult, but he got a message through telling us he was coming to look for us (original directions were vague on my part). We finally connected ....he made what appeared to be a very tricky rescue maneuver look simple. Clay the driver drove it back and forth about 40 feet....said a front wheel pulled to the side. My friend decided she would have it towed back to her house in Portland and deal with it from there. After following us to SE PDX he got the car off the truck and backed into my friend's parking place at her apartment. Thanks to Clay the driver, and Clackamas Towing for quick efficient and friendly service which turned what could have been a much more stressful event into just a speed bump! read more

We have AAA and called for a tow the driver that came out and did the tow for us was amazing. He was on time, very nice, and very careful on what he was doing. Our daughter is very attached to our truck which she has even named and the driver noticed how upset she was he even called after he dropped off the truck at the repair shop to see how she was and to let her know that the truck was ok. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Unfortunately that's not an option. These people are absolutely the most unprofessional I've ever witnessed!! When I called to get my car towed a man showed up shirtless with sunflower seed shells all over his stomach!! I'm more than positive that he was severely intoxicated as he nearly fell out of the car. He asked why I called and I had to tell him that the reason I called was because my car wouldn't start (even with a jump). He attempted to get my car hitched but missed at least 15 times. He then backed his truck directly into my front bumper. I was more than upset but stayed as calm as possible. This guy then has the audacity to ask me to go out and eat that he's upset and drunk because his wife left with his kids because he wouldn't stop spitting sunflower seeds into his kids food. I was already stressed out when this mean woman answered the phone as though I was iritating her. I couldn't believe how I was mistreated when I took a few pictures of the car I was trying to get out of impound! I was treated like a criminal. I needed a replacement part (sun visor) for an old car and was having a hard time finding it especially since the parts are not the same for different years of the same car model. Bad idea. This towing company is who AAA uses. If you use AAA and they find out you have full coverage on your insurance the skip out of the bill and charge everything at an inflated price to your insurance. I wonder if AAA gets some kickback from them. Beware. read more
