Good food nice staff, I like the vibe great up north feel to the restaurant would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

This is a Park Rapids/Northwoods tradition. We try and hit it at least once a year on our vacations. It looks deceptively small from the outside, and usually has a lot of vehicles parked so it looks super busy...but you can usually walk in without a reservation or much of a wait. A place you can get dressed up for, or just come as you are. They have a dining room area that has a view of the lake, or the regular dining area and bar area that face the parking lot. I had the walleye dinner and it was very good, wife had the Steak Tips {steak bites} off the special happy hour menu and she loved them. Boys had a Walleye sandwich and a cheeseburger...both were good. We had the walleye bites to start off and they were good too. Service was a bit flighty, but not terrible. All in all a good place for a good meal when you're up North. read more

Food was good, portions were inconsistent. Walleye served cold, portion was 1/2 the size of the other walleye. Biggest issue was a waitress that quite frankly should never work in the service industry. Condescending attitude from start to finish. A hollow 1/2 hearted attempt to make right. Bemidji Brewing IPA- yum. The Austin Burger- topped with cheese curds. Everything was served hot and fresh. All of their table seating was reserved, so I sat at the bar. Seems like all of their reservations showed up at the same time, the staff were friendly, and seemed both rushed and a little behind. read more

Amazing food!! We did a reservation, but it didn't seem necessary. Casual dress and atmosphere. Ribs, steak, chicken and walleye were all wonderful! Clean! Great staff!! Pending review While visiting family in the area, they raved about the Cheeseburger/fries/beer lunch special at Y steak House, for $10. So we went for lunch last week, and it was great! It is located a bit outside of Park Rapids on Hwy 71, just off Fish Hook Lake. Newly expanded and remodeled, it is like sitting inside a cabin on a lake somewhere, They have a bar and bar area, with cool wood beam walls, spacious yet quaint. Really lovely, clean and spacious restrooms. They also have a large room in the back for large groups/events. I had the Cheeseburger lunch special, which includes a 1/3 lb cheeseburger (of course), and all the usual fixings on a kaiser roll, with the option of grilled onions. Then you get to choose a side of fries, salad, vegetable, or cottage cheese, PLUS a bottle of domestic beer, all for $10! What's not to love about this?? Here is the breakdown: burgers are only grilled to one done-ness: medium-well. We asked about getting them medium-rare, nope. No go. That said, it was really tender and juicy and good sized. I opted for no bun and no cheese, and it was great. Most important: get the fries. They arrived crispy, hot and not greasy - absolutely transcendent! Standard beer choices - Coors, Michelob, etc. That would be my only complaint - no craft beers available. They have standard beers included in the special lunch price, but there are other beers available for an additional cost. Overall it was delicious and a great bargain for $10. Not the most healthy lunch, but sometimes you just need a burger, fries and beer. One family member had the iced tea, and it arrived with dark in color and absolutely no flavor at all. Very strange. Our server Terri, was efficient and brisk, provided great service. Take a look at the paintings on the walls inside, because she is also a gifted artist who painted them all. Plenty of outdoor parking, quiet music playing. Air conditioning chilly, but would be welcomed on a really hot day. Be sure to stop in for this lunch special, but take note: they close for lunch for the season at the end of August, and then closed for dinners around the end of September. read more

Had a golf group of 12 descend on the unsuspecting servers and staff this past summer. The Y steakhouse came highly recommended, so here we were! The servers and staff were outstanding! I love this place. No, Manny's it's not. But for a steakhouse in the middle of nowhere it's pretty solid. A few different cuts of meet, bar is a bit limited on beer ( especially late in the season) but overall it's the best steak restaurant in Park Rapids read more

We had a true one-star night. Arrived just before 6:30. Was seated at 6:50. There was an open table - it just actually took 20 min for someone to sit us. We ordered. Waitress came back. They were out of chicken and potatoes. We changed our order. Over an hour later, we had to flag down the waitress. I asked, "do you have an ETA on the food." She said, simply, "no." They weren't crowded. Plenty of severs. After waiting 70 minutes, we dropped $20 on the table for a glass of wine, three sodas and some bread, and left. You don't leave a group with kids alone for over an hour without any kind of updates. Poorly run place. read more

Ordered the Surf and Turf - best restaurant dinner meal I've had in ages - perhaps the best ever Filet Mignon! And that came with walleye, which I ordered grilled - fabulous! Our table was celebrating 3 generations of anniversaries (113 years:) - pretty special; We ordered appetizers - my husband thought the cheese curds were the best he's ever had (and we lived in Wisconsin for 11 years:). The Walleye bites were unique and delicious. Good quantites of both for us to share. All housemade dressings for the salads - the Garden salad was particularly well presented with veggies, including a lovely radish carved to look like a rose. Our table also ordered the Elmer's rib eye, queen cut prime rib and the ribs - everything was raved about! Wonderful experience. Looking forward to going again:). read more

I found this place on google, and was pleasantly surprised. The Ambiance is lack-luster, and the menu is weird. DON'T LET THAT FOOL YOU! The Prime Rib was great! The sides were good too! My wife got the Salmon, and for Minnesota, it was pretty good. The place could use a make-over, but all-in-all, it's a great place! Wait staff was nice and the chef was accommodating! I am giving the "Y" Steakhouse a poor rating. We had a very good server, but the food was mediocre at best. My friend ordered a prime rib rare and my husband ordered the same med rare. They served a well done piece of meat, instead of telling the men that there were no rare or med. rare pieces available. The server tried to accommodate with an offer to replace the rare order for a rib eye steak, but he declined because of the additional wait time. The potatoes were not served with butter, and were dry, sour cream was available. The carrots were over cooked. The dinner rolls were not pleasing, they had a strong flavor of basil. The atmosphere was cold and noisy with very few people around us, The restaurant itself did not have the cozy Up North flare I was expecting. The place wasn't very busy and I now know why.
