I admit, I came with a group of folks. I admit, I'm not a drinker and went with a good old Shirley temple. What is it? Grenadine, soda and cherries? I mean, commonly? Based on the taste, they either grabbed the grenadine off the back of some dusty old shelf or their soda flavor has something making the flavor off, no cherries and I don't mind since they're garbage food anyway. I was having a blast hanging out, they apparently closed at midnight that night. We had intended on only stopping in and then moving on. We were all enjoying ourselves, some playing games I believe, everyone else was drinking and at about 11:30pm we're being pushed out. 30 minutes before close? It came to a point where I turn and see what appears like the regulars and those pushing out all just staring. Like, get out, you're not welcome here. LOL. It just not a place for me and that's fine. I found it a bit rude but evidently it's of no concern to them whether folks are willing to purchase anything more within the last half hour of business. Likely to skip in the future. Whenever life brings us to the Phoenix area we will always make a stop at Clancy's Pub, to see our people! In town for the Guarantee Rate Bowl over Christmas. Drove around Christmas morning looking for open grocery stores so I could make breakfast, they were all closed. Just driving by Clancy's, it looked festive from the outside so we decided to just order breakfast Togo from them. That's turned into what felt like drinks with friends & family while we waited for our food order. Ordered pizza late night from them after the football game, when my son went in side to pick it up he mentioned that it was his birthday. They had me park & come inside for a birthday shot! I have been to Clancy's before for some bar appetizers and drinks, but I had never tried their pizza. Let me just tell you, it's AMAZING! I definitely recommend ordering the pizza. I had a steak special today 2 times and first was raw, 2nd they cut a thin steak and over cooked it. My friend had lunch and I went home hungry. All the manager did was take off my steak lunch, he told me he was taking our 2 beers off the bill had the beers on it. I have a number of Airbnb's in walking distance, and I recommend this place in my listings. I have already removed this place from all my listings. I understand Sundays are busy due to NFL and this being the official watch site for Green Bay Packers games makes this bar engrossed with everyone wearing green and yellow, but my experience today...December 17, 2023...might go down in the NFL (Naughty Food List) Hall of Fame. Drink orders coming 30 minutes after being placed, food orders being forgotten, remembered and so late and behind that the APPETIZER comes AFTER the entrees. And to top everything, sitting outside where there was not a single tv to watch anything might be the the most abysmal excuse of a sports bar ever. How can not a single worker, waitress, manager, bartender or owner figure out how to change the channels on the tv's outside? We came to watch a particular event and within an hour we were watching nothing but black screens and repeatedly asking for someone to put something on. No blame on the waitress, we understood the establishment is understaffed and she was up to her neck in work. Went their for ST. Patrick's day. Man it was busy. I never seen so much green. Lol. Parking was hard to find but we got lucky. It was set up pretty nice. We got in around 2 pm still a few seats open. The food was in just one area and we had the fish and chips and Ruben sandwich. Both meals were very good. They played different bands while we were there for 3 hours. Had an amazing time. And that cool manager Pete stop by to talk to us. He is just an amazing manager. read more

Food was so-so. This is your typical bar food place. NOTHING special. Service was slow but friendly. Ambiance- This is where hope and animals go to die. Our initial server passed us off to someone else even though we were the only table outside she wasn't serving. One can only assume this was due to us being female. We were two females at a table with no males. She must think guys tip better. We asked three times to have our table wiped down and twice to have the sun shades lowered. The table never got wiped down the entire time we were there and it took 20 minutes to get the sun shades lowered. We had to eat on a dirty table. Eventually, having asked multiple times for the table to be wiped and the sun shade to be lowered, I went inside in seek of a manager. The bartender was the only employee in sight. I approached and asked to speak to a manager. She was immediately defensive and asked me why I needed a manager. I explained our numerous requests and was met with distain and excuses. As I walked away, she mockingly told me to have a nice day. I was never able to speak with a manager and our concerns were callously rebuffed. I will never return to this establishment which is a shame since I am a local and live within a 5 minute walk. Don't waste your time. Zipps is a couple doors down and the staff/management is far more friendly and attentive. read more

We frequent this bar every time we're in town. It's definitely a local spot but they've always treated us with respect and like family. Jo Jo is awesome. One of our favorite bartenders in town. One of our favorite places for breakfast that won't break the bank! The chicken fried steak is really good . The burritos are really good. The breakfast sandwich is good. Heck, everything for breakfast is good and the price is right! That being said, I find lunch and dinner to be extremely overpriced for the most part. $20 for 10 wings!? $15 for mozzarella sticks that you can get for under $10 anywhere else! Basically just overpriced for what you get. Which is strange because it's the complete opposite for breakfast. Don't get me wrong the food is always real good. And the drinks are always great. What makes Clancy's stand out is that it is super local. Since it's right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, there are so many places that seem to only draw tourists or are just over-the-top. Clancy's has a small pub vibe that I experienced in Ireland. You can go in, order a drink without getting attitude from the employees, and either enjoy it by yourself or strike up a conversation with the person next to you. It's nice. When I first visited back in 2019, I would use the word "seedy" to describe it. Clancy's is located in an older strip mall near Sprouts. But earlier this year they closed down for a big refurbishing and it is much nicer now. The lighting is better and it feels new. There is a small wraparound patio outside. The only bummer is that there is no outdoor service, so you need to go inside to order. Still a good option for those coming with their dogs or just wanting to enjoy a nice day. One of the unexpected delights of Clancy's is the food. This is really a step up from the typical "bar grub" that you would expect to find. And they have daily specials that are really good deals. I have had the steak here and was surprised about the portion size and the nice side salad that came with it. On Wednesdays, it's on special for $11. Definitely worth checking out! I have never had the pizza here but I've seen others order it and it looks good. The quesadillas and chicken wings are also good options. As a sports bar, there are several TVs on playing the games which add some nice energy to the small space. Since there are so many regulars, you will see people greeting each other. Again, a very nice vibe for Old Town Scottsdale. Since they are open late, you can even come well past 11 and it still has a lot of people. The clientele tends to be a more mature crowd which is nice when you need a break from the nearby noisy nightclubs. The service is prompt. Since the employees are so busy, I can't say I have ever really had a conversation with any or gotten to know them, but the focus is on getting the drinks and food out as soon as possible. Disappointing. We happed to be in Scottsdale today close to where we use to live so we decided to go to Clancy's for lunch. Mistake. Only 2 people working, bartender and 1 waitress. We had to wait 10 minutes before she took our drink or give us a menu. 10 minutes to get our drinks. After anther 15 minutes we decided not to order food and asked for our check. There was a manager there but never even offered to help the waitress. This place has gone downhill in the past 3 years. Too bad, it use to be a nice neighborhood bar. My wife and I stopped in to get a drink while our dog was getting groomed nearby, and to our surprise we discovered a hidden gem. Clancy's atmosphere is down to earth and inviting, and the food and drinks are good and well priced. The star of our visit though was Marissa, the bartender. She is upbeat, funny, and welcoming. She treated us and everyone at the bar like friends rather than customers as she went from stool to stool engaging each person in turn. We felt like we were at a party, thanks to Marissa. Taco Tuesday was a pretty good experience. The shredded chicken tacos are $2.50 each and the ground beef version is $1.50 per taco. It is Old school as all taco shells are hard and served with the standard lettuce, tomato and sour cream. I found the tacos quite good paired with some domestic beer. Very poor business model. A group of us arrived there informed them up front that all tabs were separate. Came time to pay our bill, they lumped all 12 peoples cost together and refuse to separate.
