Rude, hates cats (verified) and hasn't treated certain dogs very well either. He used to only treat horses until he had to sell them and had no choice about seeing dogs and cats. Dogs fare better although I've read that he's been the cause of death for those also. Trust the bad reviews because a lot of people like him. They don't see the truth if they get out of there with a pet still alive. He answers the phone himself and never turns anyone away. Not because he cares, it's because he's money hungry. Takes your loved one in the back room so you'll never know how it was treated, if at all. Lies about having done tests and had his license suspended twice. Filthy in the tiny waiting area also. I had heard about a vet in Indio who offered reasonably priced services, much to the dismay of other high-priced, corporate-run veterinarian operations. The offices of Dr. Clark were right around the corner from me and I noticed that he had accomodations for horses. Now, I no longer have horses, but in my experience, "horse doctors" are the best, especially in a polo town such as Indio. Polo ponies can be as much as 100 grand and even the cheap ones aren't cheap, so I figured Clark would be a good place to take my scruffy little Tijuana street dog with her injured dew claw. The office waiting room was packed, but Dr. Clark came out to reassure me that he'd be with me shortly and...he was! We talked about escalating veterinarian charges and he told me that his prime directive was to provide affordable care. That was also the truth. Can't recommend this guy enough. Even when I called a couple of days later to ask when to remove the bandage, the doctor came to the phone himself. There appear to be multiple board actions currently against Dr Clark with the California State Board of Vetrinary Medicine. Anyone can search complaints and the many board actions against him at the state regulatory board that governs veterinarians. Unfortunately, I found this out after our appointment with Dr. Clark. The wait time was very long the two times I came for an appointment, over an hour. They don't allow people to go back with their pets. My anxious dog was without me for 30-40 mins. My pre-delivered records were not looked at or utilized. The Dr saw me for about 3 minutes after my appt. There were many people in the tight room and the Dr was far too rushed to discuss the issues that brought us there. He was talking with 2 other people and talking to me at the same time. He was just too busy to give me a proper finding of my dog's condition or allow me to discuss my questions or concerns. I feel my dog didn't have an adequate/full examination based on the Dr's comments. I felt put on the spot with his time limitation to ask everything I needed to. I assumed we would talk after the appointment solo and without distraction for 5-10 minutes but we were not afforded his time. His staff is wonderful and he seems like he is probably a nice guy too. Update: a week after our appointment, my dog has a totally split nail from a toenail trim from Clark's office. Never once in my long history of dogs incl 58 rescue dogs, have I seen this. I just spent $600 at a new vet fixing her nail and bandaging her foot, and getting a proper exam. I wish I never met Dr Clark and I'm sure after this honest review, he wishes he didn't meet me either. read more

We sent him several letters and notices and proof of our puppys vet bills that took proper care thru tests not guesswork or quick fixes that we experienced with Dr. Clark's practice. Brought in my little big guy for a rabies shot today. I initially asked if they had any first appointments because my bully gets super high strung and anxious fast in places like Drs, groomer, pet store.... but at the Dr. his anxiety is off the charts. It triggers these freak outs and he starts panicking to the point he starts gagging up foam... it's just crazy. Anyhow, they scheduled us before any other dogs got there. The Dr. brought him to a separate room on the side, turned the AC on and brought him some water to try and calm him down a bit. Josh came in to set him up, then the Dr. came in to administer the shot. I really appreciate how accommodating they've been with his anxiety. It's so disheartening to seem him freak out the way he does. I don't know why he does this. At home, on his walks and even at the dog park, he's totally fine. My dog was having an emergency situation with regards to congestive heart failure and our usual veterinarian in Banning was not available within the timeframe I was looking for, like 2 days max. So I tried Dr. Clark in Indio since he was closer. Although he did a good job with diagnosing my dog and what he needed to survive his health crisis, Dr. Clark was very unsatisfactory in other important ways. Besides having to wait a full hour and a half to see him after making appointments at a specific time, upon my request, he informed me very gruffly that his policy was NOT to let people in the examination room with their pets and if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere. Wow. I had to continue with that first examination because of my dog's concerning condition. The bill for that visit seemed pretty BIG however I am sure there are some other vets who might charge more. Then, for the return check up visit he signed me up for my dog a couple weeks later, again, even with the appointment, he kept us waiting for one and a half hours. My main intention on the return visit was to get prescription refills from him so I could get the prescriptions for my dog at Chewy or Costco to save me some money (his markup is high). By law he is supposed to do that, from what I have read. However, when I asked him for that, he again gruffly said, "We don't do that and if that's what you want, you need to go elsewhere!" OK, I thought to myself, tomorrow I will let him know to transfer my dog's records to our usual vet in Banning. So that's what I did! When I called him and asked him to transfer my dog's records, he nastily said he'd have to do that next week... and he said I "need to understand" that I "could never go back to his clinic", to which I said "fine". A week and a half went by and the Banning vet's office had not received my dog's records from Dr. Clark. So it got to the point where I called Dr. Clark's office and TOLD them that I WILL BE IN THE OFFICE TO PICK UP MY DOG'S RECORDS BY NOON on the next day. So that's what I did! They were incomplete, so the following day, I had to make the same call to get all the records, and pick them up in his office. I'm sure they didn't want a big scene in their office, so they readily complied with my DEMAND. Unfortunately, although I am grateful that he did help my dog when he needed immediate medical attention, I would never recommend him to anyone. I don't believe he likes people, and perhaps he doesn't even like animals because most animals feel comforted by having their owners with them in the examination room. By the way, HOT TIP: Costco fills dog prescriptions! Around half of what Dr. Clark charges! read more

Our family had a recent incident with our seven year-old Maltese, and she broke her jaw. She also needed some dental work done, which I knew prior to this incident and we were getting some prices from local facilities. My sister-in-law demanded that I see Dr Clark and boy I glad I did. I tend to be a bit over anxious and want to know exactly what's going to happen, when and for how much but I put my trust in Dr Clark and I'm so thankful I did. They actually cared about my dog. They eased my fears and explained everything to me. The staff and Dr Clark himself were very nice. Please don't hesitate to try this place out. There was a stark difference in the quality of care and cost I had here versus at the Animal Samaritans in Indio. I had a horrible experience at Animal Samaritans. Just be aware that the wait time is long. It can be over an hour sometimes. But I cannot stress enough that they actually care about your animal. Your baby is in good hands here. It's thanks to them that I still have my senior dog. He had an enlarged prostate and needed to be neutered. My dog was in such bad shape and they told me it was better that they castrate him to make sure he didn't have this problem again. I really thought he was going to die and not make it to his birthday. My dog is doing so much better now and I'm happy to say he's 11 years old now. read more
