We were quoted $700 to repair brake line and get new brakes. When the car was finished, the price was $1,400. The manager said that once they started the repairs, they found other things that needed repaired/ replaced, so, without calling to advise or get approval, he took it upon himself to go ahead with repairs. He became belligerent when pressed for answers, and said that he was required by law to make these repairs (??)... but still, did not think he was required to call us to advise about these extras that doubled the cost. Although they are required by law to do so, they refused to give us the (alleged) broken parts that they decided to repair without getting our ok. The Indiana Attorney General's office classifies this as deceptive practice. Our attorney advised us to pay Clark before they file a mechanic's lien, then report them to BBB and file suit. We, fortunately, were able to do that, but what about the customers who can't come up with the money to pay twice what was quoted? I hate to think of how often they've likely pulled similar stunts like this, and how we will always be skeptical of the small mom-and-pop auto mechanic shops in the future as a result. read more

I've been going to Clark tire for awhile and I've had so many positive experiences, I'm surprised by their 3 star rating?! Every time I've gone in, they could've really hustled me, but these are good ole boys who know what they're doing. Mike usually waits on me, and once I thought I needed a new tire and it was just a broken air valve which was a $10 fix. Yesterday, I called every where to price 2 front tires and they were the lowest priced. I asked them to check my back 2 tires and the wheels were corroded so again instead of charging me for 2 extra tires, they smoothed it down and it was $25 instead of a new set! I didn't have to wait 3 hours at Walmart, 45 minutes maxed and was able to enjoy the shops along the Monon. Don't forget about this establishment in Carmel! read more

0/10 would never recommend We were quoted $38 to fit and balance two new tires to the wheels of our car. Upon arriving at the appointment, it was made clear that a new employee had misquoted us and the price was now nearly DOUBLE the original quote. Management refused to honor the original quote or to offer any kind of service to make up for the mistake. If I had known this establishment was so poorly run, I would never have trusted the care of my vehicle to them. I got lured into Clark because of a coupon for a free oil change. There were no stipulations on the coupon, so off I went with two kids in tow to get my free oil change. After waiting about 30 minutes, the man working on the car told me he had to use synthetic oil for my car, which was going to up the price of the oil change to around $80. But he said it was so much better, and it would mean I wouldn't have to change the oil for about six months, so really, it's a better deal. Um ... Ok. So much for my free oil change. By this time it had been about half an hour, and I had two young children with me, so I said fine, let's just wrap this up. I left vowing not to return to Clark for anything because I felt like I had had the old "bait and switch" pulled on me. Cut to three months later. We're driving back from a day trip to Ohio, on the highway at night, and the oil light comes on in the car. What? Why is the light coming on? We look at the little sticker that the guy at Clark put on our windshield that let us know when to get an oil change. We still had three months and about 2,000 miles before our next one ... so why was the light coming on? We pull into the first service station we see and check the oil. There's almost none left, and the dipstick is really dirty. But according to the guy at Clark, we shouldn't have needed an oil change! But yet here we were. Took my diesel there and first thing the guy does when he gets in it is blow black smoke out the exhaust. took it there for an alignment. absolute piss poor job not even close to being straight pulls me into the opposite lane!! I don't know a lot about cars but I do know that this place tricked me. Maybe because I look young and I'm a woman ?? I brought in my car because the check engine light was on and it was running badly. The code checker at autozone said that the ignition coil was bad. I brought it into Clark's tire and the first day they said they ran out of time and they just were able to do the oil change, the second day I brought it back they changed the ignition coil, then it still didn't work and I had to bring it in AGAIN and tell them exact what I wanted done after I had went to autozone again- spark plug change and that's when they changed the spark plug wires as well. The car ran okay but then within 10 minutes the check engine light was on and I had to go BACK to autozone and it still said the ignition coil was bad, I don't know if they just are inexperienced and they didn't know how to change it and they fucked it up? Or they don't know how to work with subarus?? They charged me for an hour of work each day for them to barely fix my car AND COST ME ALMOST $1000 just for a bad ignition coil... I talked to many people and they told me that changed spark plugs and ignition coil doesn't take almost 3 hours. They seemed nice at first but on the phone when I was trying to tell them the issues they would interrupt me and just tell me to bring the car in again (to charge me more money probably) ... I'm a 68yo woman and I had an SUV to drive from IN down to FL and I wouldn't have done it without Ron and his guys at Clark Tire checking the vehicle over completely before I did it. Ron assured me it was in good shape and he was right, on the drive down I didn't have even one minor concern to take care of, Just sat back and enjoyed the drive!! Clark Tire is now my first go-to for my car repairs, tires, oil changes, etc. They are honest, reliable, and I have never had any issues with them. The work they've done has always been first rate. Ron, the owner, is a down-to-earth family business man that cares about his customers. I'm confident whenever I have any car problems that they will give me the best job at a very fair price. We own older vehicles and sometimes, repairs can come often when you don't expect them to. They've always been there when we've needed them. I'll even mention one time when our 1999 Chevy Astro Van wouldn't start. One of their mechanics drove over to my home and worked on the vehicle until he got it started. He was here for probably close to an hour or so, and since they had recently worked on the van, they didn't charge us any extra to get it going again. I was impressed by their service, professionalism, and the way they cater to their customers. You can't go wrong with Clark's! They not only are a great place for tires, but they are now my mechanics of choice for all my automotive needs. read more

But when they told me I needed some work on my car, I wanted to get a rough price estimate so I could see when I could afford to schedule the repairs, and they would not give me a price. Before I moved to Indy, I was here for an interview and my old car decided that the middle of winter was an opportune time to quit working. Fortunately, Clark Tire was in the same plaza and I was able to wheel my car over to get it checked out in the afternoon. Not only did they shuffle their schedule to make sure my car could get fixed and I could get on the road back home for the holidays (a long haul back to Iowa), but one of their employees sat up front and made excellent company for the several hours I had to wait while they got the right part. Unfortunately, on my way out of town, I discovered through the power in my car blinking while I was on the interstate that the battery bolts were overtightened when the it was put back in the car and were stripped. I wound up having them replaced at an AutoZone the same day. I've had my oil changed here several times as well as run diagnostics with no incident and the guys are all friendly and helpful. I was grateful for their kindness when I was stranded, and their prices are occasionally a little higher than other competing businesses in the area, but generally run fairly competitive. read more

Got lured into Clark Tire through a free oil change coupon. Called and was told that Saturday's were first-come, first served, no appointment necessary. Show up at 10:45, not one other person there. Was told they would "give it the ole college try" to get it done. 11:40 comes, my car hasn't moved. All while I watch the guy at the counter read the newspaper. This is obviously used as a means to acquire new customers. Really? This is how you handle 10 minute oil changes? How do businesses like this stay open? SMH. read more

I had tires installed here several months ago. Recently, I started having vibration in my front wheel and took it to my regular mechanic in Carmel thinking it might be a suspension issue. My mechanic determined that my problem was due to a TPS monitor in the front wheel that had come loose because it was duct taped to the rim. The last person to have touched my tire prior to the duct tape failing was Clark Tire. I called Ron at Clark Tire to inform him of the issue. Ron not only called me liar stating that there is no way to prove that his employee used duct tape, but he also said that it if my vehicle had come in with duct tape, he would have let it leave with duct tape instead of notifying me of the problem and trying to fix it. Ron stated that there was a note in the service records about the install but instead of looking it up to verify my claim, he called me a complainer and hung up on me. They did the alignment and repair on the front of my truck said everything was good so I bought new tires from them 600 for two tires 300 Alignment and part. And now after 4 months my tires are choppy and they did all the work then wouldn't fix or replace my bad tire .Very unprofessional Should have made sure all my suspension parts on my front end was good or better. They just wanted to sell me tires and did a poor alignment job. read more

I used to use this shop for a variety of vehicles and I even recommended this shop to family/ friends(I have since called and apologized to all of these people and told them to change shops) For years they did an excellent job, recently something has changed and I am extremely displeased. My car broke down and I had to have it towed to Clark while I was at work. Which meant I didn't have time to remove any valuables from the car. Not only did they take my Bose Headphones they decided to snag an expensive bottle of designer cologne. I also seemed to notice one of my prescription bottles was a little light after the visit. They don't follow instructions or specifications automobile manufacturers put in place and they won't admit fault, which means I have to pay for the expensive repairs due to their negligence. Honesty is obviously no longer a part of this shops code of ethics either. If you're looking to write your car off or void your warranty take it on down to Clark Tire! read more
