Warmly welcomed when we walked in the door. Owner was sandwich experimenting but stopped when we mentioned our first time visit. Easily decided on the Duuuval Cheese Steak - with Philly cheese, onions & peppers! The flavors were amazing and the bread perfect accompaniment. Also went with homemade tator tots with bacon & cheddar mix ... outstanding dipped in honey mustard. Second sandwich was sliced brisket ... not a personal favorite ... I was torn and really wanted the special potato waffle and fried chicken ... or the Cuban ... or the Club ... lots to go back and try!! Would definitely recommend!

Philly Cheese Steak hit the spot! And the onion rings were really delicious. Another social media win- our local FB groups that shout out local businesses delivered another win. Order at counter and food came out quickly. Great little lunch spot!

Stopped in for a quick lunch on our way to other adventures and... how have I lived in Jacksonville without hearing a single whisper about this place?! Clarke Bros is the definition of an old-school, classic sandwich shop...the kind that feels like it's been feeding happy locals forever. Pretty sure one of the actual Clarke brothers made our sandwiches (I should've asked, he was a delight), and the service was amazing from both him and the cashier. We arrived right at open, so most folks were grabbing takeout, and for a few minutes we practically had the place to ourselves. Great vibes, great conversation, zero rush...just a genuinely welcoming spot. Now... the food. Calling these "sandwiches" doesn't feel adequate. Architectural marvels might be closer. When I first saw the prices I thought, "Okay, a little high for a sandwich." Then the sandwiches came out and I immediately took it back. For the amount of sandwich you get? Absolutely fair. These things are huge... like, "I needed a strategy and a game plan" huge. I got the Club on sourdough, and every single bite had the perfect balance of everything. Fresh, well-layered, and satisfying in that nostalgic sandwich-shop way. I also snagged a bite of my friend's Reuben on rye, also a 5 star experience. We also ordered onion rings, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm recalibrating my entire understanding of what an onion ring should be. These were fresh, insanely crispy, and somehow still tasted like actual onion inside (a rarity!). All future onion rings will be compared to these. And finally, the gochujang wings: sauced to perfection, flavorful, and just the right amount of kick. I took half my club home because I had to tap out. I'm already excited for my leftover snack. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in. Clarke Bros Subs is the kind of hidden gem that makes you feel like you stumbled onto something special. Come hungry and leave very, very happy.

Was heading over to Riverside and the plan was to grab lunch before our other event and I suggested we go to Clarke Bros since I had been wanting to go since I heard of it and lucky it was right down the street from where we were going. We arrived right at opening and we greeted by the staff who were very helpful. Let me tell you they have all kinds of options of sub/sandwiches here. They have a main menu with the usually options but they also have signs around the restaurant with specials too so much sure you check out every sign. I will say they have a lot of amazing sounding options on the menu but it was a little chilly this early afternoon so I needed a hot sandwich and I went with the Duuuval Cheesesteak with onions and Cheese Wiz. They do at times have Cooper Sharp as well but their shipment from Philly had not come in yet. I also had to get an order of the Gochujang Wings since they sounded amazing and I don't live in the area so gotta get as much as I can when I am right? The wings came out first and they were very big. You for for sure can't beat 6 for $8. The Gochujang sauce was very tasty. I had the perfect amount of sweetness with the right amount of kick as well. The wings were cooked perfectly and were nice and crispy. These are for sure a must when getting lunch with friends and great for sharing. The Duuuval Cheesesteak came out quickly after and was hue and loaded with Ribeye. I could pick it up or take a bite without meat falling out and that's a very good thing. There was also plenty of cheese which I of course was a fan of. I meat maybe could have used a little more seasoning but this was still a top cheesesteak in Jacksonville. The others sandwiches our group got were also huge they were only able to eat half of their sandwiches because because they were so big. I gotr to try Ashely's Pastrami Reuben and it was great. She also got the Onion Rings and they were some of the best I have had. None of that you take a bite and the whole onion comes out crap. The staff was great and made sure to check in to see how everything was tasting and we of course were loving it. I will for sure make my way back to Clarke Bros Subs next time I'm in Riverside since there are still many sandwiches to try.

One word, Oustanding!!! I've been dying to try this spot since it opened! Everything on the menu looks Amazing. It was hard for me to choose, but I went with the Duval Cheesesteak and Holy Canoli it was Delicious! I also ordered onions rings, cheddar cheese balls and another amazing sandwich that my Fiancée ordered and loved it. Service was fast and awesome. The Ambiance was pretty cool and different kinds of sandwich choices all over the place. So I will say please take your time in looking at every menu inside the establishment. They have their regular menu up top but also have really good choices written in chalk boards. With every bite immediately came another, I wish I could have tried every sandwich on the menu but that will come with many more visits. I HIGHLY recommend Clarke's to anyone that would listen and haven't stopped recommending it to my friends and family!

What a gem of a sandwich shop and the real kicker is they make the best cheesecake in Jax. The interior is bright, clean and cute. The staff members were all so friendly and helpful. What to order is the real dilemma, because everything sounded good. We went with brisket filled potato skins, homemade bacon cheddar tots, the Duuuval Cheesesteak and the just made phenomenal cheesecake. You order at the counter, get your drink, select a seat and they bring the food to you. Everything was delicious and made for a perfect Saturday lunch. We will definitely be back and I'll sneak in just for the cheesecake.

I had zero expectations before coming here but any expectations I would have had would have been blow away!!! The food, the service, the atmosphere were all exactly what you want in a local diner! We walked right in and were greeted with a smile and a waft of delicious smelling food. After some deliberation I decided to order the Reuben and onion rings. Everything seems to be made to order and took long enough to start coming out for us to get our drinks and snag some sauces. The onion rings were perfection! The onion to breading ratio was excellent not too much breading and big onions. The batter for the onion rings was also flavorful so I ate some without any sauce. The Reuben was huge and every bite was delicious. The sauerkraut was not over powering but it was present which is just the way I like it. I will absolutely have to go back to Clarke Brothers to try more of their menu because every single thing I saw coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing!

Stopped into this local sandwich shop across from St Vincent's (Riverside) for a late lunch with my son. This storefront has been a lot of things over the years but I hope it finds its permanent occupant as a sub shop bc the subs are pretty good. Upon arrival today, we were greeted by the staff who allowed us a few moments to look over the blackboard menu (note the big one on the wall is the permanent menu while smaller blackboards near the counter/ register show case daily/ weekly specials). When we were ready, the counter service person helped us figure out our orders and was polite throughout. I opted for the club on white while my son opted for the cheesesteak without peppers. We also got drinks and split a platter of fries (aptly titled Big Ole Platter). You also pick your cheese (provolone for him and cheddar for me). We then grabbed a seat at a booth in the back as the back of the store seemed to be cooler than the front near the door. They also have counter and table seating. Our food was delivered to our table in a timely manner and looked amazing. My son's cheesesteak was the star of the show - it was hot, juicy and delectable. My club was good but it is not a traditional club (think grilled bread and two slices as opposed to three). The ham and turkey were smoked but were a little overpowering when eaten alone (I had to use a knife and fork at times bc the meat was hanging over). Also, the bacon jam seemed more like chopped bacon as opposed to a spread. They serve Pepsi products to drink and the fries were hand cut and tasted good. Throughout the meal, the staff checked on us and made sure that we were having a good visit. Great option for a sandwich in the Riverside area.

This place makes delicious subs! The Philly cheese steak is really good just missing some mushrooms and it would be perfect!

Parking is challenging unless you are already parked near the hospital. You order at the counter and they delivered to our table. There are a couple tables/counter space and booths. The sandwiches were good for a reasonable price. I would only be in this area if visiting St Vincent hospital. If in the area, you won't be disappointed.

The server was really friendly and recommended some great options for us. We ordered the following: 1) THE QUEEN - classic Venezuelan "chicken salad" with their home-made avocado mayo, cilantro and sliced avocados (also known as the Reina Pepiada). Fresh with a great balance of umami flavors! The cilantro green sauce was an amazing add-on with a little spicy kick! 2) PORKO LOCO - slow cooked pork marinated in red wine with queso blanco. Tender, moist, and very flavorful. Amazing! 3) CACHAPA - soft crispy pancake made with sweet corn and fried cheese in the middle. Flavor bomb of sweet and savory! 4) EMPANADA (BEEF) - tender, shredded beef with great flavor of savory. The dipping sauce was white, tangy, vinegary, creamy with a slight spiciness. Delicious! 5) SOURSOP JUICE - rare to find restaurants with this drink. Ate the actual fruits in my homeland in SE Asia. The juice was milky/creamy, sweet with an earthy taste. Great health benefits eating or drinking soursop -- antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, etc. Other notable item was the Passion Fruit Juice however, I did not try it. My bestie really liked it. Overall, wonderful experience at the restaurant of the food, service and great interior feeling creating a great ambiance. Definitely will visit again and try out more menu items.

This time, I had the sausage and chicken gumbo, along with (yes!) another key lime cookie. The gumbo was flavorful and comforting--definitely a great choice. What truly stood out the most, though, was the service. On my first visit, my waitress--who was also managing--along with another server, were incredibly polite and courteous. Although I can't remember their names, they were both exceptional. Today, I had the best cashier/server who even brought me a sample of the gumbo before I ordered.
