I had to stop at Saucy by KFC after reading KFC took over old PDQ locations to turn them into chicken tender spots. I actually enjoyed it. The pink branding is super cute and feels like a fun upgrade. My daughter and I shared a chicken tender meal with Brussels sprouts. Yessss! Brussels Sprouts at a chicken spot made me happy. It's nice to have a veggie option that's not fries. The tenders were juicy with that classic KFC crispy flavor, just a little more fried. The Brussels sprouts were crisp and flaky but seasoned well and still tasted like Brussels sprouts. Only thing is, with a name like Saucy, I expected the tenders to come tossed in sauce, but you get dipping sauces instead. Overall, it's a solid chicken tender spot and I'd go back to try more sauces.

We were so excited to try the new place, but sadly it didn't leave the best impression. I know that when places first open they may have some bumps and bruises so hopefully if we try it again that it will be better. The inside is short on seating. We went at lunch time on Sunday and had to either sit at the counter over looking the kitchen or sit outside on the 85+ degree day. We choose outside. The music did come outside but was loud. Fans are on, but was still warm. You can order through a kiosk or through a person. Both of those seemed to work fine and we're easy. When the food came the drink cup and bottled water came before our food. Then the food came. We ordered a sandwich, chicken tacos, drip fries, regular fries and puffys. The bun on the sandwich was delicious and the chicken was good quality, however it seemed like the lettuce was super light and sauce was so light you could barely taste it. Same with the chicken tacos. The fries were tasty and the puffys were cooked well and yummy. For a place called saucy.... the sauce was super light in delivery and when you could taste it, not that flavorful. Service was quick and delightful. Based on the chicken quality there is hope for the place, but there needs to be some adjustments to the space and the full entree quality. There should be more value in the food based on the pricing.

I watched this get turned from a PDQ to the Saucy concept, so I was curious to try it.

I must say, I've become quite the "Chicken Tendies" critic as I've ventured around Jacksonville…read more Don't ask me why, I have ZERO explanation for this sudden obsession, but lately I've come to realize that not all Tendies are created equal. Enter PDQ. The Digs: Stand alone brick and mortar in upscale St. Johns County. I've eaten there on numerous occasions, and no matter what time of day I arrive, the expansive dining room is virtually spotless. The enticing aroma of fresh Chicken and crisp Waffle Fries being made to order will lead you to the counter with a sense of urgency. There's two Coca-cola Freestyle machines to ensure that no one dies of thirst. An abundance of tables and booths are situated to entertain a crowd, if needed. The Noms: Don't get me wrong, there's more to PDQ than just the Tendies (salads, milkshakes, etc.), however, my go-to order is the 4-piece meal with Waffle Fries and Toast. Up until my very first visit, I had NO IDEA how one thick, buttery, toasty piece of bread could be SO essential to this meal. If they ran out of toast I'd walk out and come back the next day, that's how dependant I am on this bread. The Tendies are fried to perfection, and elevated by my 2 dipping sauces of choice, Ranch and Honey Mustard. There's an assortment of sauces to suit anyone's taste, but those two are my besties, and I'm an unapologetic Ranch snob. The Waffle Fries are coming at you fresh out of the fryer, so you might want to wait a minute before you dig in, speaking from experience. And So: This particular PDQ is unquestionably my favorite "Tendies" spot in Jacksonville, by far. The service is quick and the staff welcome you with warm smiles and pleasantries. Definitely a must-try if you haven't already. 5 well deserved stars. Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, thanks for reading, and as always....SYOY!

We both had chicken Caesar wraps, which were only lightly packed in the wrap, and didn't have enough dressing, so they were very dry. The homemade chips had barely any seasoning on them and were overcooked. Despite this, the wrap and chips (after adding salt) were tasty, so we'll give it one more shot.

The dining room is spacious, there's 2 TVs with different sports networks on, the restroom is impeccably clean, and I'm always cheerfully greeted by the staff. As for other locations, the service quality tends to vary from day to day. My go-to order is the Bacon Cheddar Burger, cooked medium, with onion rings instead of fries, and a fountain drink. They don't have combo meals, sadly, so everything is a la carte. On the rare... and I do mean RARE occasion that I opt for something even remotely healthy, the Garden Chicken Salad with Ranch is a tasty choice. The KEY is the Ranch. It's served chilled and I believe it's made in-house...or at least it tastes that way. Perfect dressing for a salad, phenomenal dip for the piping hot Onion Rings. Winning. As addicting as they are, I do wish that there were more than 5 Onion Rings in a serving, especially when there's an upcharge for the substitution. There have been a few occasions when the burger patty was a tad on the dry side, but not a deal breaker, the crisp bacon slices came in to save the day. P.S. Honorable Mention goes to the heavenly Cookies, Brownies, and Milkshakes that have always been there to help me finish strong. Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, thanks for reading, and as always...SYOY!

I placed my order in the drive-thru and once at the window, I decided to 'pay it forward' by taking care of the car behind me. I often do this to honor a family member who died WAY TOO EARLY in life! I tell the cashier that I'd like to pay for the car behind me and then leave a 'pay it forward' card for the cashier to give to the recipient. The card explains my family member's story and asked the recipient to repeat the actions shown to them in an effort to spread kindness! I've done this many times & many places. This particular day was NO different... until the cashier had to call the manager for a turn of the register key. I literally overheard the female manager SCREAM out loud to the cashier, ' the next person to do this..... tell them NO. I don't have time for this shit!' I don't know if she knows I heard her tirade, but what kind of way is that to speak of a paying customer? Better yet, what kind of way is that to speak of someone trying to spread good in this world? This McDonald's has lost my patronage as long as that lady is still a member of their management staff! Rudeness has no place in this world.... Especially when someone is helping someone else out!
