My family has gone to Clark's Automotive multiple times in the past 2 years. There weren't any issues prior. However, my mother took her Toyota Prius here recently due to a headlight being out. She was quoted $100 for her headlight to be fixed. They called her and told her due to the type of headlight it was actually going to cost $250. As they were doing work on the vehicle they saw the Ballast was broken. They called her and told her it was going to be $500. When she got to the shop to pick up her vehicle, the bill was $680. We were really shocked with how expensive it was. With some negotiating the price went down to $580. Once we paid and got to the vehicle there were multiple easily observable scratch marks on the paint near the headlight. Thankfully they ended up agreeing to fix the paint scratches. The prices for the parts seemed excessive compared to what you can find online. I would recommend bringing your own parts here. read more

First and last time I use them. I came in with what I thought was a starter and air suspension problem. They "fixed" both and my car is worse now. When I brought it back the front desk said to take a video so they know what the issue is. I was able to take the video and they said they will fix it. Three days later (after they already had my car a week of repairs), I called and they stated the car isn't stalling to start and they can't do anything. I've been 3 times, finally have to give a review. Ever get scared about mechanics ripping you off, or your mother? Giving you fake information? Well, Clark's Automotive is YOUR ANSWER to prayer! Not only are they 100% truthful, but if they will diagnose a problem that will actually NOT benefit them! Brought my car in, mechanic said it's only a vibration issue. Put it on lift, corrected vibration (4 minutes), gave me the car back and said "no charge". Instead of $1,200.00 MINIMUM job a questionable mechanic AND/OR dealer would have charged, Clark's was truthful! Know what that did? It earned my business for LIFE! Called because I had a spark plug threading issue and asked if they could do the work to either re-tap it or put a helicoil in (I'm not comfortable tapping threads on my engine block). He said they use "save a thread" because helicoil is too fragile. he said I should try that and that it's relatively easy. I hadn't heard of it, and thinking it was different than a helicoil or something I'm else I'm not familiar with, I googled it while thinking "what a helpful guy who didn't try to get me in the shop for something I could do on my own with something I surprisingly haven't heard of before (I'm relatively handy/capable). I wish I could give this place 10 stars. Let me start by saying I am very likely the worst driver in Manassas. I've done things to my car I didn't even know was possible. That being said, I've gotten around quite a bit to various auto repair shops and not one place comes close to Clarks. The people that work there, from the front desk, to the mechanics, are all so friendly and helpful. I'm especially pleased with Stuart and the other young gentleman that works there. As a matter of fact my mom who also takes her car her, tries to request Stuart whenever she can (do they do that at auto repair shops?? I took my 2017 VW Jetta to Clark's after reading some good reviews about this shop. My mistake. I explained the A/C was cooling, but that it would start blowing warm air after a while in traffic. It took them 3 days to look at it as they were busy. On the 4th day I was told it was ready. They explained the problem was that it was low on freon. They charged $150 to "recharge the system". I took it home, it seemed to be cooling fine, but the problem was not fixed: by the time I got home 30 minutes later after running a couple of errands, it was blowing warm air again. I called them, they told be to bring it back. One day later, I get another call: some little part (I can't remember what the guy called it) "was probably failing and that was an indication that the A/C compressor was about to go out". To fix the problem I needed to replace the compressor. It would cost roughly $750 to take care of that. I declined. When I picked up the car, to add insult to injury, I was charged an additional $75 for looking at it again. And now the A/C does not cool even for a while like before. It came out worse than it went in despite being charged $225 for not fixing it. If you want to blow at least $75 per visit until they eventually determine that the "engine is about to go out and you should replace it (or the car)", by all means take your car there. Otherwise, stay away. read more

We are in Manassas visiting our daughter and her family. My daughters car was having intermittent starting issues. Upon inspection of battery I found significant corrosion to the point of having the positive battery terminal almost completely breaking off the terminal. I called Clark's for an assessment. They answered the phone right away and provided me with a quote to replace battery and terminals. We brought the car over right away. After looking up the battery, they discovered they did not have it in stock and would have to order it. I needed the car fixed before the weekend so they offered an alternative that was in my best interest. They said if I wanted to go buy a battery at one of the many stores within a mile from their shop, they would be happy to install it for me. I did just that and delivered the battery to them. The next day we went to pick up the car and I could not believe the amazing job that was completed. The owners took me to the car to show me the work. SINGLE LADIES TAKE NOTE!!! I am the single (auto-ignorant) female who goes into an auto repair shop at the mercy of all who work there. I have been ripped off and mislead (lied to) so many times I'd almost come to believe that's the price you pay for having repair work done. That changed when I started doing business at Clarks. I first learned about them when the company I work for began taking their vehicles to Clarks for service and inspections. I followed suit and began taking my 98 Honda Civic there for repairs and all that can go wrong with a car that old (but still runs like a lil champ, thanks to Clarks and the way Honda USED to build cars...). They've had so many opportunities to "take me for a ride" (pun intended) but they've always been straight with me and told me when I needed work and, more importantly, when I didn't. I wouldn't have known the difference, really. I would encourage those ladies (and men) who are clueless about cars to give Clarks a chance. The only drawback is that they are quite busy most days but they're busy for a good reason: small, family owned business, good work, good reputation and word of mouth spreads like fire these days. While I might have to wait a short while for a repair, at least I know they don't have to charge me $400.00 for windshield wipers to make up for the business they don't have. I am so pleased with Clark's. From the first phone call requesting a tow to their shop. Cheryl was very nice and the company they use for towing was amazing. My car was picked up withing 40 minutes. They called me to tell me what was wrong with my vehicle and TJ was very professional. Within two hours of getting the go ahead to repair my car, it was completed!!! It was unbelievable that it was done that quickly. I was referred by a friend and I will definitely use them again in the future. The price was very fair and nothing extra was pushed on me or even suggested. A nice change from the norm. The speed in which they had me back in my SUV was incredible. If I could give less than one star I would..I've always heard these guys were the ones to go to, but that was not my experience. I had to have the lower half front of my engine replaced and the timing belt changed. Big bucks. When I got it back the check oil light kept coming on and the engine sounded rough I took it back and paid more to get the check oil light sensor replaced. The problem continued. I figured I should have someone else look at it. The seal they had put in the engine or the timing belt was was put in badly and the sealant was in the engine clogging the line. tI cost some bucks for this guy to disassemble and clean it , but it did the trick. This guy also said the new seal Clarks put in the timing belt case was cockeyed and leaking oil. I will just have to deal with that until it's time to change the belt again. I've thought to go back and tell Clarks but just said screw it . I wouldn't recommend these guys to my worst enemy. Sorry - you don't know your stuff. read more
