My daughter went in for a simple cleaning, but was pressured into accepting additional treatments that she didn't need. They refused to perform the cleaning unless she agreed to other procedures. The upselling was excessive and made us uncomfortable. The cost of treatment was also much higher than expected. On top of that, the wait times after being seated were longer than expected, even though we had an appointment. To make matters worse, the dentist who used to treat our family and whom we trusted is no longer there. This happened a little while ago, but the experience left a lasting impression. Our entire family -- myself, my husband, and our daughter -- used to go to this clinic. But after repeated experiences of being pushed toward unnecessary and expensive treatments, long wait times, and the departure of the dentist we liked, we've all decided to stop going. read more

After they recommend all of these things to have done, which half of your of them are not covered by your insurance, then they have to send in the financial planner for all of these recommended procedures. I should have heeded the warnings from fellow Yelpers about the dreadful service, unprofessional employees, and outrageous pricing at this establishment! Do yourself a favor and AVOID this place unless you're ready for a major financial regret. Right from the start, I was met by a sarcastic front office staff member, followed by an x-ray technician who didn't utter a word. Then I was left sitting in a room for over 20 minutes while the loud staff openly spoke negatively about patients. While the doctor was pleasant, it was clear from the moment she entered the room that this was not the right place for me. The treatment options presented were absurd and completely out of touch with reality. I called on Dec 17 to set up an extraction appt for my daughter. I needed this done before the end of the year due to dental benefits. They told me they could get her in on the 30th, but needed a referral. So the dentist sent the referral. I even was standing in my dental office when it was sent. I even called Modern Dental the next day to confirm it. Was told they got it and were just waiting on insurance. So I called today since the surgery is Monday and was told they never received the referral. Which isn't true since I called and confirmed the next day. So someone didn't do their job. BUT even if they hadn't, they should have realized prior to me calling the day before the surgery to make sure everything was a go. They completely dropped the ball, and now there is no time left this year to find someone else. So her benefits will not be used and next year now she wont be able to get the dental work she needs because she will have to use her benefits on this. I am disabled, so money is a massive factor. It is one thing to make a mistake. I can understand that. But what I don't understand is being told that everything on my end was done, that they had the referral and it was just about insurance sending in the approval, to call and be told they actually never got it, and now my daughter is the one to pay. So if they are this incompetent in the front, I don't trust them not to be in the back. read more

7/11/2025 I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with the care I received during my recent visit. I had scheduled an appointment over a month ago for a filling that had failed, causing me discomfort. Despite this wait, I did not mind the delay as the issue was not causing me significant pain at the time. Upon arrival for my 12:30 appointment, I was seated promptly and had my x-rays completed by 12:30, which I appreciated. However, after that, I was left waiting for an extended period with no explanation. At 1:25, someone finally came in to discuss the cleaning I needed. I informed them that I was not there for a cleaning, but rather for a filling that I had been waiting over a month for. After some back-and-forth, the staff member left, and a doctor came in. The doctor informed me that my treatment plan did not indicate I needed a filling, despite the fact that I had clearly explained the issue I was experiencing and its location. She seemed uninterested in listening or even examining the area. Instead, she suggested that the pain I was feeling might be related to a crown on the top of my mouth, implying that I was mistaken about the source of my pain. After I insisted she examine the area, she begrudgingly did so and confirmed that the filling had failed and there was indeed a small cavity, which had been missed on the x-rays. At this point, the proposed solution was to clean the area, apply a temporary crown, and schedule a root canal for another day. I explained that I simply could not afford the $2,500 for a crown, nor could I take more time off work for additional procedures. The doctor assured me that the crown would not cost that much, but when the next staff member came in, I was presented with an itemized breakdown of $935 for the root canal, $1,225 for the crown, and $10 for the "treatment plan review." I left the office immediately, as I was both frustrated and appalled by the way I was treated. The lack of urgency in addressing my issue, the unprofessional attitude, and the attempt to charge me for a "treatment plan review" after I had to beg for help was nothing short of ridiculous. I found it incredibly unprofessional that I had to insist multiple times for someone to look at my mouth. The overall experience was completely impersonal, and it felt as though the office was focused more on making money than actually providing care. I hope that you will take this feedback seriously and work to improve the way patients are treated moving forward. They just want your money and lie about what care you "need". They told me they could not do a root canal on one of my teeth and that they would need to pull it and put a post in for a bridge. They wanted after insurance like $5400. Went to another place and they were not only able to do the root canal and then put a temp filling while we waited for an appointment for the crown it only cost for everything under $500. I would definitely shop around and do your research before you commit. My son wasn't so lucky and ended up paying over $6000 for work he probably didn't need read more

I had a horrible experience with Smile Generation and their 0% interest payment plan. They'll sell it as positive for the patient, but it's completely predatory in practice. If you don't pay it off completely during the 18 month window, you'll get 18 months of interest tacked on to your bill, at 30% interest. Tell them you want to pay it off in full? This is the worst dental experience I've ever had. I went in for a crown that was supposed to take 2 hours -- I was stuck there for 6. The crown was painful, I couldn't eat on that side of my mouth, and when I asked to have the balance taken off they agreed... but kept billing me anyway, even sending me to collections. Every time I called, they promised it was fixed, but it never was. After months of stress, they refused to refund me and hid behind excuses. I take great care of my teeth and being new to the area I picked this establishment for a cleaning and routine care, I never got my cleaning and was left in the exam room for almost an hour while the unorganized staff tried to see what they could get covered by my insurance. Recommended crowns $400 cleaning etc I'm glad I left, just very sorry I even let them do anything in my mouth! Also, you should clean your windows in the exam room and screens, when you leave a patient reclined for 45mins alone in a room trying to milk the insurance it is gross to see such filthy windows and tablet screens. I went in for my usually check up as a new patient, and was told I needed extensive work. I understand 9 months without going to a dentist was my fault but they were pushing for a deep cleaning. Anyone in dental field knows a deep cleaning requires numbing, why? Because they're scrapping under your gum line. They were also pushing to try out some laser treatment on my gums and no numbing for a deep cleaning. So I did not need an SRP (deep cleaning). Red flag #1 I didn't accept any of the treatment plan and decided to go back to my last dentist in Nashville for a second opinion and brought in my treatment plan. Front desk at the Nashville location showed that I was charged a $5 fee dental code D999 which is nonexistent dental code. I have an HMO dental plan meaning this dental office is in network with my insurance but I had a $5 copay for my first visit?Mmmh red flag #2 from this office I would say trust your gut instinct if you feel like you're seen as a money bag for dental work at this location. I would leave a negative one if it was possible, my first appointment for surgery was canceled which in turn left me with 4 days off work with no income my second appointment for surgery went well - the fact I could not wear my temporary dentures on the top or bottom went back in where they informed me I was going to have to have surgery again at this point I am 10 days off work with the canceled surgery and the two surgeries I went back in for a third follow-up still not being able to wear my bottom plate she in turn informed me there was nothing else she could do except for it would cost me another $4,000 for new dentures keep in mind I still can't wear the original dentures that I already paid for 7,000 out of pocket after insurance for surgery and dentures I now have to have another surgery to repair the top that they did not fix properly file the dispute with my credit card because I had to use it for part of my bill to where the dentist office is claiming that they provided the quality service they have provided but yet I cannot wear my dentures and have to have another surgery because they did not fix my mouth properly please don't use this dentist read more

Went in for a painful tooth. I was there for 4 hours. The only thing that was accomplished is a recommendation for a bridge, 25,000K before insurance because my gums were "so bad" (one reason). I finally told them i was ok with the procedure, I was quoted 4200.00 after insurance. After waiting a month with a throbbing tooth,(no antibiotics would be prescribed) I went in to have the procedure and when I finally went into the room, the dentist came in and told me if i used the less expensive metal, I would need another crown. OK, only an additional 1K, no problem. Seriously?? She apologized for the confusion of NOT telling me this with the quote 3 weeks prior. Could have already been treated somewhere else....So if 1K added to your bill is no big deal, then you might like this place. I was so upset, I had sat in the office for 4 hours first appointment, waited a month with a throbbing tooth, finally went in and was told I would have to spend another 1k for an additional crown or I would be in alot of pain if I didn't. I finally left after wasting another hour in the office to receive NO treatment. Went to another dentist and she said my gums WERE HEALTHY, got a cleaning right away (could not get one at CMD because they said I needed a deep cleaning because of my horrible gums, which was around an additional 800.00 instead of the covered cleaning with my insurance. I have what most would call perfect teeth and thankfully never needed anything more than routine dental care and maintenance. I was overdue for a check up so I began searching for providers in network, read a few reviews, and scheduled an appointment online with Clarksville Modern Dentistry (CMD). CMD is in an ideal corner location on Madison St. with plenty of free parking. I experienced great customer service, quick check-in process, latest X-Ray technology, clean, and friendly staff. This is where it ends for me. I scheduled an appt. to have a consultation, X-rays, and cleaning for the advertised price $59.00 but all are covered under my dental insurance at $0 cost to me. The dental assistant started my visit with X-rays that took approximately 10 mins. It was a bit uncomfortable but she was quick and efficient. Next I moved to a dental chair and met the Hygienist, who examined the health of my gums and bone around it using a Peridontal Probe. I listened as she called out my numbers for each tooth 2 or 3 mm. The Hygienist recommended that I needed a deep cleaning. She explained her reason that I have some inflammation that if left untreated could lead to Peridontal Disease. Who wants that? I thought but had a feeling something wasn't right. The dentist came in and introduced herself, checked my jaw movement and shape of my teeth, reviewed my X-rays and confirmed the Hygienist's treatment recommendation/plan- a deep cleaning/Gingivitis Scaling for $145. (Red flag) Another staff member came in to explain my insurance benefits and services covered by my insurance. Of course the deep cleaning is not covered and it would be my responsibility. The dentist confirmed that I have no cavities or bleeding gums. I have not been experiencing any tooth discomfort, sensitivity, or pain. I just calculus like everyone and it could be removed with a Prophylactic Cleaning. I scheduled the next day appt. but also got a second opinion because I wanted to make sure I wasn't being ripped off. I consulted a dentist and dental assistant I work with. All three stated that I did not need a deep cleaning!!!! This service is unnecessary for anyone who has 3 mm or less. An hour before my appointment I cancelled. My search continues for a reputable dentist who abides by the Standards of Care and not using unnecessary services as a billable opportunity. Well I came in a month ago now going on month number 2. They pulled all of me out except 6 and I was promised that I would not go without teeth. I finally get my teeth after a month because it went from getting my mold done over to it got sent to another lab and when I finally got them. The top was too big I can't close my mouth. Instead of getting partial bottoms I got full bottoms so I am unable to wear them. So I refuse to wear them. Before I walked out of the office I let it be known that I was not happy and I was told I was going to get a refund! Are you serious?! I have been told several times I would receive a call and no one has called it's been 3 weeks of no communication. I have been walking around wearing a mask everywhere I go. I refuse to leave my house to hangout with friend Ms because I have no teeth in my mouth and I'm not comfortable! I already suffer from body dysmorphia so this doesn't help me at all. Instead of someone trying to fix I was offered a refund. That does not change the fact that I have no teeth in my mouth. I would not recommend anyone to this place very unprofessional! read more

After going to a hometown family dentist for the majority of my life, once moving to college I decided to change it up. The X-rays they took were very uncomfortable, but the assistant worked quickly. Afterwards I had my first cleaning there where I received a fluoride paste to protect my teeth. Besides it tasting awful, I was told it would be covered by my insurance. I wasn't aware I had aged out for this, and upon leaving was asked to pay a copay. I did so and still received a bill from my insurance company for the fluoride treatment. The second time I was in the office was for my wisdom tooth removal. The procedure went well and took only 15 minutes. Upon waking up from my hazy stupor, an assistant led me out of a side door of the building to the sidewalk and walked me around to the front. Looking back I thought it was weird why she didn't walk me through the office- but whatever. They made sure I had someone with me to drive and made sure I understood the care instructions before the procedure. They called me to ask some routine questions about my healing and to call them if anything changed. I healed perfectly fine. My third time in the office was for a 6 month cleaning where I waited in the scarcely populated waiting room for 45 minutes. After being brought back to the exam room, I waited another 35 minutes to be seen by a hygienist to look at my teeth. The hygienist left and I proceeded to wait for my dentist. She came in after 20 minutes to look in my mouth for 30 seconds. She left and it took ANOTHER 15 minutes for my cleaning to take place. I was annoyed at my wait and notified the receptionist that I was displeased with how long it took for my appointment to complete. I chocked it up to being an off day. Upon leaving, my partner that was in the waiting room during my visit told me of another patient leaving in the middle of her exam because she was fed up waiting. My fourth and final time to this office was for a morning appointment. Check-in was quick, waiting time was not long, and I didn't wait long for the hygienist. She examined the pocket mm for my teeth and suggest I have treatment for the inflammation and deeper mm pockets. I didn't wait long for the dentist to come in and suggest fluoride, medicated irrigation, and a laser treatment to help my gums. When the billing assistant came in, the suggested treatments amounted to a whopping $580! One treatment was covered by my insurance, but I feel as though they try to push treatments to make an extra $. This feeling was confirmed when they told me the procedure would take a bit longer and would have to return to the office in 4 hours because they were busy. I do not understand the point of an appointment if you can out be treated for what you scheduled. This office wants to turn as many patients over as quickly as possible. Having an experience that feels like genuine care for patients won't come from here. I won't be returning. read more

So I don't normally post negative reviews as I know how important a business is, however after the last three weeks of a fiasco with this office I'm at a loss, I had an appt with them last month had to get a tooth pulled and a bone spur shaved down. So we scheduled surgery, before surgery I spoke with dr Carter and told him that I didn't want the spur touched as this would be the second time having it shaved down and it came back. I thought I was very clear. After waking up (the next day) the bruising and pain were horrible. I asked my mom who came with me what they did to me, she didn't know. So you know what you do you feel with your tongue, I felt a massive amounts of stitches in my mouth. So the next week my mom was scheduled for surgery which she felt pressured into,( she tried cancelling it and they had already charged her the full amount and said it was to late) I told them I wanted to speak with the dr. He looked at my mouth and I asked him what did he do? He said that I had bone fragments and they had to come out? I explained that I asked him not to mess with it and he said oh I thought you Said to take care of it. My mom came out of surgery was supposed to have dentures put in immediately and they didn't have them ready? Well she went back a week later and guess what? Still no teeth !!! Now she has to wait for another month ( fucked up my moms whole vacation that we were taking on the 24th literally our whole family will be there with no teeth) so I finally called and asked when my follow up is? Yeah you got that right one month later... I have dealt with a lot of dental places in my life but this one takes the cake! I'm beyond mad, I have been trying to look up the corporate office number and still can't find it... between the two of us we spent 5500 dollars and have got crap for it. Disgusting!
