After parking on the street, we were greeted by a worker and walked right into the kitchen. I guess this happens often and one of the staff members said to make a left into the cafe. The cafe is super cute and homey. There is something to look at on all the walls of the restaurant. Some of the signs were downright hilarious and had me spitting out my coffee a few times. We sat in a booth and they offer counter and table seating too. I could have easily had everything on the menu if I wasn't stuffed from the first breakfast I had before. They even gave us banana bread to start out with. Where does that happen?! I went for the famous dirty grits with all the helpings excluding the onions. It was soooooooo good! The ham, bacon, and cheddar cheese served in a mini crock bowl suited this dish well. The toast makes the perfect dipper for those grits. My husband loved the sausage gravy and biscuits. The gravy sauce melted the way to his heart that day. The waitresses did a superb job with everything. They were so sweet and made us feel welcomed the entire visit. Just walk through the red door. (Actually look for Lake Worth Towers apartment building. Park on the street or go to guest parking then look for the red door.) If you are still lost, call them. They will give you very friendly directions to that great red door. You really can't get more hole in the wall then this place. You walk almost straight into the kitchen. But you'll be greeted by friendly faces that will guide you around to the tables. A small tv will be blasting current news and there will be packed tables chatting away or someone will be grabbing something at the counter. But I wouldn't say the place is loud. Just very homely. The staff really treats you like family. Scroll through menus already on the tables to find something to your liking. The real gems are normally on the huge chalk board toward the front of the room. Clary's, without any shred of doubt, has the best southern-style, American breakfast of any establishment in Palm Beach County, perhaps even South Florida. This place is a "hole in the wall" in the literal sense as it's located on the side of a condo building and you enter through a small access way that's very easy to miss. Once inside, however, there's a full-fledged restaurant with food that'll simply blow you away. My scrambled eggs with American cheese were light, fluffy, and cooked to perfection. Home fries were wonderfully crispy and rich in flavor. Bacon was crispy but not overcooked and exploding with flavor. Arrived at 11:30 didn't get my food until 12:50! The food had promise, but the grits were too hot and the Maryland Benedict was cold. I was so hungry I made the best of it. The waitress apologized 30 Times to various people which seemed non stop. Seemed that a cook was a no show on 09/17/22 when I was there. I may give it another shot. We'll see. This is one of those hidden gems! From the outside it looks like nothing more than a red door. It has a rustic speakeasy vibe about it because there isn't much in the way of an entrance or signage. So after coming here for a little over a year I still ask what are in some of the items because sometimes they change it up. Today I found out that their breakfast egg roll sometimes will have these ingredients and sometimes will have another so it's always best to ask. I ordered a western and I asked for American cheese and she asked me if I want to double cheese and I said no I just want regular American cheese. She said a western always has American cheese. Now I'm not sure because I always just ask for it but that's a good point to make. So instead of asking for American cheese in the future I will ask if it comes with cheese. Normally I will ask for my vegetables to be raw rather than just slightly sautéed. When they're slightly sautéed to me they just taste mushy. Today for some reason I did not specify anything on my vegetables and boy am I glad I didn't. It wasn't your typical sautéed onions in this omelette they were caramelized. And anybody who cooks knows it takes a long time to caramelize onions as well as the beautiful flavor that comes from caramelized onions. I got the home fries with it and I've had better I've had worse. I will probably get the grits next time. My husband had some sort of a burrito that was eggs and sausage but then it was covered in sausage gravy. Their sausage gravy is definitely one of a kind It's a little hard to describe but it does not taste like they use the regular tube sausage like I would use if I was making it. I've been fortunate to find a few gems in PBC and South Florida when I'm looking for good eats. By far, Clary's is an absolute diamond. If you're a foodie who wants to find that "one hidden place" that no one knows about, and has amazing food that tastes like your cool Aunt or Nana made it like no other, THIS. IS. IT! Clary's had been on my radar for months, and I finally was able to make my way there early in the morning, after figuring out where the entrance was located -- Note: It's kind of hidden. In this small non-descript part of Lake Worth Towers -- a tall, green-colored, multi-storied building that serves primarily as a low-income senior community, you will find Clary's behind an outside red door off of B Street, just north of Lucerne Ave -- past the train tracks and before the rotary that will take you under the I-95 overpass and become Lake Worth Road, y Park on the street and walk towards the red door that's on the side of Lake Worth Towers. Upon entrance, you may think you're walking into the back of the kitchen where you shouldn't be. Don't fret, turn left as you enter, walk through to where you will see the back-of-the-counter area, before turning right to enter the dining area. They have both counter and table-and-chair seating. Once you're able to sit and take the dinner in, you will discover a small, cozy, quirky eatery that's full of down-home charm and delicious local fare. Victoria, who runs Clary's, makes everyone feel welcome from the moment they enter, and responsible for the amazing food specials that change every day. I don't know many places that are so attentive to making sure you have coffee in your cup and water in your glass. Before you even order, you know you're going to have a fantastic meal. Which brings me to the food... This was, without question, the best breakfast I have had in years -- it beats brunches at DADA and Max's Harvest, meals at Howley's, you name it. Not only do you feel like you're having good food, you feel like you're having a home-cooked meal. That is rare here in South Florida. They gave me a slice of their homemade banana bread, which is MAGICAL. I savored every single bite to that, and have been kicking myself for not purchasing some to take home -- due to the food coma I had... which you can thank the OMG Breakfast Enchiladas I ordered. Filled with pulled pork and all sorts of other wonderful goodness, I was in foodie heaven. I had this with a hash brown casserole, which was super good as well and a slice of watermelon. I had some local hot sauce to enjoy with both the enchiladas and the hash browns. The mild was incredibly flavorful, while the hot wasn't pulling any punches. It was hot, flavorful and zesty. Every bite was savory and delightful. My tongue was laughing at me as my taste buds performed pulsating dances, and sent my endorphin levels into the stratosphere. My wallet is going to be lighter now because I have to return repeatedly to try all the other incredible breakfast fare they offer -- I hear their coconut French Toast and their homemade sausage gravy with biscuits is fabulous! It's not often that I encounter a place with such a home-cooked approach to the items listed on the menu and on the specials. You feel like you're not in a restaurant where you may fork overpay, but the home of your Aunt or Nana's who's always makes you an awesome meal of culinary enlightenment that can't be matched dining out. Based on Yelp reviews alone, I really wanted to eat at Clary's when I was in Lake Worth visiting my sister so we went for brunch on a Friday. It's located at the ground level of a retirement community and is the very definition of a hidden gem. Look for the stone path to the red door - it's easy to miss! We were waited on by Victoria, the owner, whose enthusiasm for good food is infectious. She described menu items, including the list of specials) and gave us background stories on some of the dishes - ask about the Cornbread and Chicken. We ordered the breakfast spring rolls (that come with the most delicious from-scratch sausage gravy for dipping), the Cornbread French toast with Chicken, the 1, 1 and 1, the sausage gravy burrito, and the breakfast quesadilla. Everything was delicious. Victoria's cornbread French toast and chicken is her take on Chicken and Waffles and it is amazing. The cornbread is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The sausage gravy (which you can get on a number of dishes) is thick and creamy and loaded with sausage pieces. We added a piece of Hash-brown casserole to one of the dishes and you should too. The atmosphere is as inviting as the food. At the back of the restaurant is a doorway into the Retirement community. While we where there residents from upstairs came to eat and Victoria knew all their names and told them the special of the day. It was an all around amazing dining experience. Very few customers each time I go food generally is pretty good however, today I went by and it smelled like fried foods and did not look very clean. I ordered dirty grits and they came in cold. Now the bad....place is a greasy dump. Kitchen area is Extremely filthy. Probably wouldn't pass health inspection after 3 consecutive cleanings. Texas toast style French toast was raw gooey bread in the middle. The famed pecan sticky bun French toast is boring and disappointing. They were very busy with in-house and go orders. Took 45 min to get our food, then the raw French toast had to be remade.....uggggggg. Found this quaint small cafe based on Yelp review. We were there for breakfast on a Sunday. It was super busy and they were short on help but the waitress did a great job of keeping up with all the patron orders. There were 5 of us so what we ordered was very eclectic. The only reason I gave it 4-stars instead of 5 is because the kids didn't like the pancakes which were really heavy. A hamburger was about the biggest and juiciest of any I've ever found in South Florida. The absurd difficulty in finding this place is well worth it. Through the lobby of an apartment building more depressing than Old Yeller and down a corridor lined with businesses catering to the nearly deceased, you'll find this tiny oasis. And it'll probably be packed. If you have to wait two hours for a seat, do it. The staff presents the sort of genuine friendliness that makes you feel as though you're family. The board of specials, which changes daily, offer dishes that are as imaginative as Alice in Wonderland. I had the privilege of trying their baked french toast stuffed with blackberries and goat cheese. It was better than sex. The Greek omelette was so fresh I cocked my ear towards the kitchen in anticipation of hearing the chickens they must keep back there. The biscuits and gravy has to be from an old Southern recipe that predates Colonial times. An aficionado of hot sauce, I'd never tried the one they served and can say with complete honesty that it was so good I'd put it on anything, even ice cream. Theirs is the kind of food you unbutton your pants to keep eating. The kind of place worth driving a thousand miles to dine at. If I lived within walking distance I'd eat there everyday and be proud to be the fattest person I know.
