We visited on a Tuesday and they were not busy so we sat right away. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. We initially sat in a booth closest to the bathrooms and immediately asked to move. The smell was horrible. We shared this with our server and she sat us in another booth. An acknowledgment of the smell wasn't made -not sure how you could not notice! The food was good and other than the horrible smell- all was fine. read more

As diners go just fine. We had not been since they moved from the beach (15 years ago?) where there was always a wait. Now no wait, enough seating and great parking. Best hash browns ever and pea meal bacon perfect. Food choice slightly better than normal diner but likely to change!!! Just changed ownership on May13th. All staff keep telling you " it's going to get better". It did not strike me as bad to start with so we will see. Staff all surprised by quick sale last week but seem excited about it. Apparently someone from Canada who has experience running numerous franchise restaurants branching out to Florida. All very unusual- not least that every person who entered was told of new ownership. Immediately bar soon to be open? Ladies Bathroom out of soap so perhaps one change would be to check toilets. Went here for a nice lunch with my family. They have changed and updated the menu. They now do breakfast or lunch all day. I got the Reuben on their homemade bread and the fried egg sandwich, and split them with my family. We also got the sandwich and soup special (Reuben and gazpacho). The table was wheelchair accessible. Our waitress was very friendly and outgoing. The food was delicious. The homemade rye bread was very good. This was my first Reuben, and it was delicious. The fried egg burger was made perfectly. The gazpacho came with croutons and other toppings. Overall it was a very good lunch, and a pleasant atmosphere. It came with crispy hash browns smothered in melted cheese, topped with basted eggs, fresh tomatoes, and toast. Hawaiian Omelette: Loaded with sautéed veggies, topped with a rich cheese sauce, and finished with a grilled pineapple garnish. Deliciously unique. Nova Bagel Platter: A classic combo done with fresh, quality ingredients--creamy cheese, ripe tomato, red onion, and just the right touch of capers. Short Stack Pancakes: Fluffy, golden, and just the right amount of sweet. A perfect side or dessert to share at the table. It's a PB County staple. It's been around forever. If you went there back in the day when it was at the Lake Worth pier it was much smaller. This space is larger and holds more people. Food is consistent. Service is consistent. Fish and chips are delicious. I'm also a huge fan of their Reuben. I have been coming here for 25 years and I am deeply disappointed in my most recent visit. The prices have continued to go up (which I understand). But the quality and quantity of the food has dramatically decreased. I recently came back to John gs to get the cream cheese stuffed French toast that has been my go-to order. When they placed my food down on the table I was appalled. The difference is inexcusable. I understand that with covid and the change of management there have been changes here. But they kept up with the size of the food even after they changed owners... that is until today. The photos I included show 2022 vs 2025. Even my photo I took last year looks like the 2022 version. We had a disappointing experience at John G's. We have long loved the breakfast and love to go there on a regular basis. Our most recent visit was disappointing. Our server had such a terrible attitude. She took our meal order and never returned. Our food was dropped off and no one came back to check on us other than to bring the check. What happened to all the staff? Arrived at 2pm on a Wednesday approximately 28 diners in the restaurant and ONE (1) server that was not only waiting on all the tables, but also cashing people out. Been sitting 10 minutes without being acknowledged, had to ask twice for a menu. When paying $29.95 for a fried fish and fruit platter one would expect a higher quality service. Given water by the bus person and never asked for a beverage order. What a HUGE disappointment when the meal arrived $29.95 for three (3) Fish Sticks! Unbelievable, and one of them was terribly chewy. Had to ask 3 times for my check, and kept being told "I'll be right back with your check". Meanwhile she was sitting new guest and taking their drink orders, refilling drinks for other tables, taking pictures for guest, talking hugging and kissing what appeared to be regulars. No idea why they put raw purple onion slices on the home fries though. The fruit served with it was ripe and tasty. The Nutella French toast was just too much Nutella....is that a complaint? But really it was too much. Sounded better than it tasted. The western omelet had big chunks of undercooked veg in it. Just ok. Wish they'd offered a refill for my iced tea. It's been a long since we were here for breakfast. Wife 2 eggs, hash browns, toast. I got raisin cream cheese French toast with a side bacon. Wife liked her meal. Mine was very good. It's messy, runny and very sweet so be warned. The bacon was cooked good right so overall the $32 plus breakfast was a hit. Food prices are so out of control that we don't do breakfast out much. It take no effort to write a positive review for John G's. But, it is difficult to characterize the restaurant's specialty because it does two things well - breakfast and seafood. The menu also has other enjoyable salads and sandwiches, but it's really a breakfast/brunch diner that also does fish right. A longtime local eatery, it's a bit dated. An observation not a drawback. There is never a lack of parking in the adjoining lot. Service is quick indoor or outside seating. Ordering is professionally expedient and brought out with no delays. Only open until 3:00 pm, 1/2 the menu is focused on breakfast specialties. The flip side has seafoods, piled on deli sandwiches, and salads. Everything is very good to excellent. All comfort foods plentifully served and priced exceptionally reasonable - particularly for Palm Beach county. It's not the memorable best in the region, but certainly the predictable best at what they do. Highly recommended for a quick bite while reading the paper or just meeting a friend. read more

EXTREMELY DISRUPTIVE and very disconcerting for the small amount of Elder Diners on a Tuesday morning in October. -Just to add to the ambience....as you enter the restaurant you have the wonderful odor of the poorly cleaned bath rooms and some kind of floral scent to cover the odor. Okay so, this place was the Crown Jewel of Lake Worth eateries at LW Casino just prior to moving, selling & pre-pandemic. We got there around 10AM on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. We got seated right away and Ally, our waitress, was kind and offered exceptional service. 10/10 would recommended. We had a delightful breakfast here. We opted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day and while we had a nice spot on the "balcony," you couldn't lose sight of the fact that you're looking over the parking lot. But as my daughter said "there were lovely palm trees to look at." The food was outrageously good. There were two of us who got the American omelet (a western) and raved about the cheese sauce and the delightful hash browns. We don't know what they did to them, but they were delicious. I had a mound of them too and loved them. I had one of the breakfast sandwiches that was a fried egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado, lettuce and tomato. How could you go wrong? I shouldn't have finished it but it was so tasty I couldn't stop. Leah had the Nutella French toast which was two slices of granola encrusted bread stuffed with Nutella and covered with raspberries and blueberries. She raved about it. The other French toast order without Nutella was also enjoyed. I shouldn't overlook the wait staff. They were so pleasant and professional-very competent.
