4/6/2025 I contacted classic Kia in Waukegan to test drive and possibly purchase a vehicle they responded back via email and call said that the vehicle was available 4/7/25. It was on the lot then I received a call April 7 at 9AM from Alex telling me that the vehicle was available and that I can schedule an appointment at 2:30p to come in and test drive it I arrive at the dealership at 2:30p. Alex wasn't there and the vehicle wasn't there. Supposedly it's in route to the dealership sometime next week and if that's the case, why she didn't say that when she called me this morning So now they're trying to offer me a different color vehicle than what was supposed to be sitting at the front door ready to test drive and possibly purchase. My car was stolen (you know that Kia fiasco), I got it back, and in the process of having it repaired at 2 different Kia dealerships, somehow all 4 of my expensive tires were stolen and replaced with cheap tires from Walmart. I didn't notice until I went to have the tires rotated (mine were under warranty for 75,000 miles and brand new). so...To steel 4 tires you'd have to have it up in the air. Hoods don't put old tires on after steeling your new tires - it had to be at one of the shops. This was one of the shops... I'm mad mad mad. read more

I do not recommend this dealership. They buried my previous review which should tell you why you should shop somewhere else. I had put a downpayment on a Kia Soul but it didn't have all the safety features I needed. So I headed out to McHenry, IL over to Castle Kia which treated me like I mattered. I wound up buying a Kia at a great price and without a hassle. When I tried to cancel the first sale, the guys at Classic got nasty. Not only did they hold up giving me back my deposit, they made me go down a steep ramp to exit the property. I wound up having to call the Waukegan fire department to help me get to my car. From start to finish, the communication was timely, effective, and concise - there were no last minute surprises and Jose set expectations exactly as the situation warranted. Avoid this dealership at all costs. Sales staff are great but sales managers are rude, unprofessional, and are a detriment to the Classic Kia reputation. They could care less about customers new and return ones. This customer will never return and encourage all others to avoid this dealership. Owners should take sales managers and explain customer service and how to interact with public. I originally walked onto the lot of a different Kia dealership a few towns over only to feel unwelcome when I said I was looking for a 2017 or 2018. I called Classic Kia and was greeted by Jennifer, who was delightful. She pulled some models for me to look at, but had an appointment so handed me off to Wayne. My mom and I were there to buy my first car I've ever owned myself - prior my ex-husband had the ownership of the cars and I had recently been sharing my mom's. I didn't want to go brand new, and Wayne was understanding and patient. He let me test drive a 2016 and when I really disliked it, he very gently suggested I might try a 2020, just run the numbers and see if I would be able to get the payments where I wanted them. He was never pushy or "salesy" and was just very nice, honestly, everyone there was very nice and not houndy or aggressive. Of course I loved the 2020. They got my payments where I wanted them, and it took really hardly any time at all. The entire process took from about 11 until 2:30. We were in the market for a Kia EV6. Over the past 25+ years, we have purchased, sold and traded in multiple cars for our family. We have had experiences with Hyundai, VW/Skoda, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Volvo, Audi, Infiniti, Ford and Subaru in our past and therefore, had the opportunity to engage with multiple dealerships. ALERT! The 2017 Lincoln MKC Reserve (VIN: 5LMTJ3DH8HUL13919) was definitely in an accident, and Classic Toyota knows it but refuses to disclose so. It's recent short-term second owner discovered it was in an accident upon inspection, brought it to their attention, and Classic Toyota refused to give the customer's money back upon return, while only offering to trade out of the unsafe Lincoln for another car. Classic Toyota mentioned they would sell it to auction, but instead listed it at its sister dealer Classic Kia alleging only one previous owner and no accidents. read more

Some people aren't extremely social or interested in small talk. Some people have DISABILITIES that limit their desire/interest/skills in extensive social interactions. Some of us want to purchase vehicles and pay in cash or finance them with our historical financial institutions. Some people purchasing cars at a higher price like to pamper the vehicle. He/she/they might ask the dealership not to wash or remove the plastic from the vehicle to prevent swirl marks, scratches, micro-scratches, and other unsightly issues. People might utilize detailers with whom they have ongoing relationships to perform such tasks. Also, some people don't use apps or choose to live in the "connected" world. That is their right. None of the above should result in repeated threats to "not sale" the car or to behave in bullying fashion. When children on the playground become aggressive, threatening and use coercion to get their way, they are defined as bullies. So too, it is with adult bullies. Jennifer P, Yoshi Y, and the General Sales Manager all engaged in threatening coercive manners. Each threatened not the sell me the Kia EV6-FE if I didn't do exactly as they wished. I didn't want dealer financing; Jennifer issued a threat not to sell the vehicle. I am NOT a connected person, so I did not want an app connected to my car. I expressed such to the general sales manager. He became loud and aggressive and threatened not to sale me the car unless I downloaded the app and connected the car. My partner and I remained calm but were internally infuriated. He mentioned to me that he didn't like being bullied. Then Yoshi Y became irate and wanted to "cancel the sell" AFTER I had signed all of the paperwork and paid him $65,011.64 for a First Edition Kia EV6 that I had reserved with a deposit, online with Kia, nine months earlier. I was excited about the arrival of the car, but it needlessly sat in their lot for three days for no purpose, other than to charge. I could have charged it at home. They had control, I had patience. After Yoshi's yelling and bullyish behavior, he told us that my deal was a nightmare from the beginning. It must have been a nightmare because I politely and repeatedly stated that I was NOT interested in communicating about dealer financing. I asked for the total price and was ready to pay it; I did not negotiate for a lower price. I wrote a respectful email requesting that they do not wash the car or remove the plastic because I would be taking it directly to a detailer for work. I calmly told the general sales manager that I didn't want to use an app with the car. It is befuddling that they would be aggressive, angry, and bullyish when asked to perform less work for the same amount of money. My suggestion is simple-try advertising with these words-"If you won't finance with us, submit to our commands, and kiss our butts, buy your car elsewhere." Be bold, upfront, and honest about Classic Kia's preferred style of aggressive, coercive, and threatening style of customer service. As my car reservation did not allow me to change dealerships, I paid the bullies on Classic Kia's playground $65k in a transaction that Yoshi Y yelled was a "nightmare." The nightmare was Classic Kia's own making. One week after the sale, Classic Kia requested that I provide a review for the $65k nightmare that Classic Kia had to suffer. Here we are. Allow me to apologize. I apologize for wanting to use my credit union's financing. I apologize that I wanted my long-term detailer to prep the car and do other work immediately upon receiving the vehicle. I apologize that I don't want to use an app connected to the car. My experience with the Service and Parts crew was not a very good experience only needing quick assistance with a fuse replacement for my radio. The Parts rep was nice enough to not charge me for one needed for my 2012 Kia Soul, so I thank him kindly, even though he had no clue on how to insert the fuse in the casing. The Service rep did not have a clue and suggested I pull my Kia in the service area to take a look. Another Service rep that was requested came over and he had no clue on how to insert the replacement fuse. It's a given to expect these guys to know what they're doing with something soooo simple as replacing a fuse. The Service rep suggested that I leave the car for them to do a diagnostic; which was out of the question given it was just a simple fuse replacement. Yes, I did go off on the Service guy raising my voice after much frustration with the entire WKGN Kia crew not being competent until I asked for a Manager and he quickly inserted the replacement fuse; at which I boldly spoke to the 1st Service rep, "that's why he's the manager." I wish I had written down the 1st Service rep's name (who is actually the one I had issues with). I informed them that I receive better service with knowledgeable and friendlier reps at the Kenosha Palmen Kia in Kenosha, Wisconsin where I will continue to take my business. read more

Our sales person, John Plewka, was the only person knowledgeable in the Kia Niro we wanted to buy. So many other sales people straight up told us that we knew more about the car than they did. Some of them lied about inventory to get us in the door. Annoying after traveling out to the burbs. Some dealers had mandatory extras like pin striping, upholstery treatment, VIN etching..that you have to pay for. Horrible. Not at Classic Kia. John was incredibly knowledgeable to the point where he was like a walking owners manual. That's amazing for a feature-laden high tech vehicle like the Kia Niro. Not only that but he was willing to do his best to earn our business. He LISTENED and understood what we were looking for. We ended up ordering from the factory and he communicated with us through the whole process and was very detail oriented. We couldn't ask for more. Do not reward bad dealerships. I purchased 2 NEW cars from them and with the 2nd car I've noticed the service has gone down and the attitude has gotten worse over time. I will not purchase another vehicle from them as this trend has not gotten better. The service manager actually told me what is his incentive if I don't plan to buy another car there....DUDE YOUR CHECK SHOULD BE YOUR INCENTIVE. The fact that he made that comment tells a lot about where the standards will be going in the future. If you're part of the engine settlement they will use old parts when they replace your engine. I notice they put an old belt and old oil pan on my vehicle and didn't even ask me if I would like them replaced because they probably figured they'd make more money when I have to come back. SURPRISE! I will never purchase another car from them nor will I trust their service department to do the right thing ever EVER again. They may also NOT fix items that they say they did due to recalls so be very careful if you intend to use them. read more

I've been to just about every new car dealer in the area, and Classic Kia is in my top 3 for a new car buying experience. My wife and I went in after being disappointed at Raymond Kia in Antioch. We weren't expecting much since we were chasing a 2016 New Kia Soul for $10,995.00. I spoke with John over the phone about what the cost would be with destination and without military, uber, and graduate discounts. The number he gave me over the phone was unheard of for a 2016 Soul, but we went for it anyway. Rick, the manager, spoke with us 1 on 1 as soon as we walked in the door. He was quick with an out the door price that honored the quote that John gave us over the phone. After putting down a deposit with Juan and making sure that this deal wasn't too good to be true we returned to the dealership to finalize the transaction. They worked with us on a price for our trade-in. The entire process was incredibly streamlined. They never offered rust-proofing, undercoating, or VIN-Etching. These guys stand head and shoulders above their competitors. The only complaint I had was that Rick said that our $1500 rebate was entirely due to our choice to finance with them. This was not true, since we would have received $1000 cash back regardless of our choice of finance agency. I didn't really care though because our out the door price was well below invoice. These guys are professionals, they will respect your time, and they will be up front with you. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else if you're buying a Kia. I had very good previous experience with Classic Kia in Waukegan. This time I had a problem with my 1 month old Kia Niro: the front movement detector did not work. I drove to a shop and was greeted by service person explaining my problem. He told me that they are backed up and that I need to make an appointment in 2 week and leave a car for couple of hours. I was fine with it, no rush. After this I asked about the loaner in case if they need a car for more the a day for repair and Jose Lopez, assistant service manager approached. He start asking me where did I bought the car. I bought 2 cars previously in this dealership and was pretty happy with sales and service. But this time they did not have a single car I wanted. I explained it to him. I am sure I did not sound very happy but who would? I just asked him to make an appointment in 2 weeks. He then stated that to check the car with appointment I have to leave the car for the whole day, and I express politely my negative feelings. Than he said to me that he has a better ides: they will not going to make appointment and that I should not come to this service again. I did write the e-mail to the General Manager of Classic KIA, Sean Philp, but he ignored me. We all have ups and downs but this was unacceptable behavior and service. None the less from Mike F the service center manager. I was even told the technician (Gabriel) has reached out once. But was then told that there's no tracking or proof of that. - little hard to believe that a car service center has no ability to track when they contact customers. I am/was flabbergasted by the level of service and respect for the customer or lack there of. I would seriously avoid servicing your car at this location. I thankfully was able to contact corporate and am working with them on a resolution. My daughter's Kia Soul had a recall on the engine, and unfortunately after keeping her vehicle for over two weeks, it was returned to her with the full spare tire and jack missing. Of course, she did not realize it was missing until yesterday when she got a flat and needed the spare. The recall work was completed in July. I happen to be an automotive sales professional in Lake County as well, and on the recommendation that the service manager Mike Flament was a "nice guy" I rang him up hoping to discuss and looking for a professional courtesy. I simply explained that the car was purchased within a year, it most definitely had a spare tire and jack in the car at the time of purchase. The car had never been out of my daughter's possession (other than quick oil changes and car washes) other than during the recall work performed at Classic Kia. I explained to Mr. Flament right from the start of my conversation that I was not accusing anyone of anything, that given the ongoing auto industry market conditions, not only are new and used cars in high demand, so too are parts and during this crazy market, I have no idea what happened, but that I would surely appreciate professional courtesy pricing on a new spare tire and jack or the like. Mr. Flament was extremely defensive at the onset, a terrible listener, and kept circling the conversation around to accusing me of accusing them of stealing. Personally, I would never accuse anyone of stealing without concrete supporting evidence. In fact, I prefaced the conversation with "I am not accusing anyone of anything.....but this is what happened..." Again, Mr. Flament had a patent answer he was sticking to, and my words were of no interest to him. However, he did say he would "look in the back to see if we have her spare tire laying around and would call me back." Which he did, and even more unprofessional and confrontational than during our first phone conversation Mr. Flament stated he spoke with the service tech who worked on my daughter's car who says he didn't touch your daughter's spare tire, and he's worked for me for over 20 years, I believe him, and he doesn't have it. Well, again Mr. Flament, I do know the inner workings of a dealership and I know that several other people have access to a customer's vehicle while it's there for service. I didn't ask you to or expect you to confront a service tech. We're you expecting an admission from someone??? Really now! All I asked you for WITHOUT ACCUSATIONS was some professional courtesy on a part. You stated there's no mark up on spare tires, you were "not interested" in working that out and hung up the phone on me. THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND DOING THE RIGHT THING. She is very personable and extremely transparent with her pricing, she gave us the best price over all other Kia dealers within a 100 mile radius. Everything was done by phone, they didn't have the car in stock so they dealer traded for the vehicle we wanted without making us come in to sign a contract in which would've taken hours of our time.
