We used this company for a major backyard renovation/landscaping project after glowing reviews on Angie's list. They were very professional, well organized and communicated well with us the whole time. We had a difficult, steep backyard that was basically unusable. Now there's a beautiful pathway with boulders, many groundcovers for erosion control and other beautiful plants, and another area for the kids. I contacted Classic Nursery via their website mid Spring. I received a prompt reply from their landscaping department, and a quick/convenient appointment was arranged with a landscape architect. He was prompt, questioned me a lot about my "wants" and needs, took many photos of my backyard, and promised to have a plan back to me within a week. Since I could not afford to landscape everything at once, the architect made a three phase plan, which I could install within a three year period. All costs were detailed. I did have Classic complete Phase 1. The crew doing installation was wonderful, professional, and fast! The landscape architect visited the site to make sure everything was going well. When the project was completed, the architect came back to go over all the details with me again. My experience could not have been more positive. I will definitely be working with Classic again for Phase 2 and 3. Additionally, I will visit their nursery for any needs I may have. I highly recommend Classic Nursery! read more

In March of 2014, we hired Classic Nursery and Landscaping to help us create a functional and enjoyable outdoor space on our lot in West Seattle. We decided to hire Mr. Burke based on reviews that we found on multiple websites, and our personal meetings with him. Please allow us to share our experiences to caution any future potential customers of Classic Nursery and Landscaping. From the very beginning, our project was plagued with blatant omissions, oversights, short-cuts and cover-ups. To this day, we, the client, are still trying to rectify the mistakes left behind by Mr Burke and his crew. We felt that there was a serious lack of communication and quality control, and discovered that Mr. Burke's crew was extremely inexperienced, unqualified, improperly supervised and deceitful. It was an extremely frustrating experience and we are highly disappointed in this company. We understand that mistakes happen during construction, but to intentionally cover up mistake after mistake in hopes that the customer does not notice, that is not OK. It is dishonest. We write this review not as disgruntled customers, but as honest consumers who wish to share our experience with this company. Even though our experience was extremely frustrating, stressful, and disappointing, we tried to maintain an optimistic and positive attitude throughout the process. We even sent Mr Burke the occasional email during the project, thanking his crew for what we thought was a job well done, only to be thoroughly disappointed when short-cuts and cover-ups would surface. The constant and continuous buffoonery of Mr. Burke and his staff actually became quite comical to witness. So we write this review to respectfully provide a warning to the kind reader and to look past the "excellent" customer service and the superficial front of Mr. Burke. This is our second yard landscape project with Alan Burke (previous was 23 years ago when Alan was with another firm.) The prior experience with Alan was terrific so we again contacted Alan and Classic Nursery. Alan came to our house and reviewed our project scope, timing and budget. Our focus was to renew planting areas, reduce maintenance and focus on draught resistant plants. He provided us with a comprehensive set of documents on landscaping materials and plants to consider. Within a couple of days he sent us a preliminary plan and cost estimate. The Classic Nursery team was very responsive to our requests for revisions and updates -always providing insightful pros and cons to our requests. We scheduled the project, visited their nursery(to review our plant selection. Our project was delayed a week because of staff illness - communication of issue was prompt and informative. Four days later, Alan, Eric and the crew arrived. Project moved smoothly. Pruning and clean up took a couple of days and were followed by plantings, new walkways and rockeries. The team did an excellent job integrating some existing plants, grasses and flowers with the new selections. Project was completed on time, work area was nicely cleaned daily. The revised areas have a definite updated/current landscaping look. Alan was always available for phone, email or in person discussions. The landscaping and office staff were equally helpful and available. We are very pleased with our updated yard and will recommend Classic Nursery to family and friends. read more

Although he doesn't provide the service I was inquiring about, he sent me a very polite response in which he listed a half dozen or so other companies (with contact info) that do. We hired Classic last spring to completely redesign our backyard space. From the idea stage, to the design stage, to the actual work and completion and follow up of the project I was impressed. We had been trying on our own to come up with a comprehensive plan that was within our budget for our backyard and wanted to add in several elements. Classic listened to us and worked with us guiding and directing us so the finished project was the best version of our vision. I am so happy that we went with Classic and are now enjoying our finished backyard. Their knowledge of the northwest drainage issues and what plants could work out for me to maintain with my current lack of a green thumb were confidence building. The follow up they have continued to do with us has been so helpful on how to further care for and when to prune back plants etc... has been welcome and useful. We just completed a total landscaping of our yard and we are so thrilled with the results from Classic Nursery. We did a total renovation of our front and back yard. Alan met with us to get our ideas then drew up a landscaping plan. Alan made bi-weekly visits to the site over our month long project. Wan-Ch, the project manager, met with us off site to pick out hardscape rocks that we wanted for our project. Wan-Chi was on site almost daily as the old front and backyard patios were removed and two new patios and two walkways were installed by Jeff and Brandon who worked on the site daily. Both Jeff and Brandon have excellent work ethic, great attention to detail and were responsive to all suggestions. I met Don and Wan-Chi at Classic Nursery to select trees and plants. Wan-Chi was on site to supervise the placement of the plants and make great suggestions. Thanks you to all the staff at Classic Nursery. Purchased new home in need of a small back yard. Needed to remove ugly existing concrete patio, install a paver patio, and install plants. Also wanted a small water feature and a sprinkler system for both the new back yard and the existing front yard area I first met with Guy Feldman from Classic Nursery at my home for an initial consultation. Guy did a great job of listening and paying attention to what I had envisioned. After looking over the area and listening to my vision, he spent about 15min and drew up an intial sketch of the project incorporating my ideas and some of his own. Most of the other compaines wanted around $1k to do the design, which I thought was outrageous since my yard is approx 500sq feet. Classic did not charge for this service and Guy did an excellent job coming up with the plan. From there, Guy took a couple of days to come up with a bid for the plan we had come up with. The bid was not the lowest, but was right at my budget and included all the extra features that I wanted...like my small water feature. Juan and Carlos did most of the work. They were here every day and did an excellent job. I saw progress each day and I never got a complaint from any of my neighbors regarding noise, parking, or the work being done. They did an excellent job keeping the work sight clean and neat. My project took about 3 weeks to complete...mostly because of the work being done around the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. In the end, Guy gave me a comprehensive walk through of the project and all the work that had been done. There was a small overage due to the conceate removal being thicker than anticipated, but I was aware of it. Overall, the project is beautiful and I cannot wait for nicer, warmer weather to start enjoying my new patio/back yard space. read more

Our project involved adding an outdoor living space adjacent to our home that would complement and connect to the natural vegetation on an adjacent hillside. It included installation of patio pavers, a pond with waterfall, plantings, stone walkway and steps, and a large custom arbor. We couldn't be more please with the work done by Classic. From the start, owner Alan Burke was a pleasure to work with. He listened (patiently) to our ideas, and as befits a true professional offered intuitive suggestions and options we hadn't considered. Alan emphasizes clear communication, making sure we understood each option, its cost, and possible trade-offs to make sure we stayed within budget. The project itself went very smoothly. Workmen were punctual, courteous, paid attention to detail, and we considered them craftsmen more than laborers. All contributed greatly to a completed project that in many ways exceeded our expectations. We continue to enjoy this "extension" to our home, and never hesitate to recommend Classic to guests, friends and neighbors in our Hunters Glen homeowners association. read more
