Classy Seconds is my favorite Thrift Store! They are so unique with their beautiful decor and the boutique! The employees are so helpful and are always working so hard. I get quality clothes and other things when I shop at Classys. Their prices are reasonable and I always get a good deal! I just bought an Apple iMac computer for $30!! I love their daily specials that are different every day of the month. I always donate to them as well because I love that they benefit a good cause, victims of domestic violence. Lisa, after multiple tries no thanks. On Yelp and other places your closing time was listed as 8pm. You apparently changed your hours to close at 7pm but didn't bother to update all the listings such as Yelp, hard work huh? I mean how long did it take for you to respond to my original review with your sassy self? A year? Also I never said I tried to shop at your store ON THANKSGIVING but you thought you could make it sound like I came to your store on Thanksgiving by telling me you're closed on holidays..... closed for... "the children".... those poor poor hungry children.... or did you refer to them as "families"? I went there THE DAY BEFORE Thanksgiving and the sun was still up annnnnd.... your doors were locked. I went there with my Mom because we checked on our phone when you closed because we were across the street at Goodwill and we said "hey, when do they close? Let's check and go there." and every listing said you closed at 8pm and it was like 6:45pm that particular attempt to shop at your store. But you and everyone else know all this because I'm not the first to complain about your store always being closed on a whim and your staff being rude when they are asked to do something terrible like "work". Yeah work is hard, maybe don't try and run a store if it's so hard for you? Oh and cute dog you were walking in the parking lot and then ran away quickly when my Mom and I tried to go inside. One bad apple has ruined it for all. Our family which encompasses several households has donated numerous times in the past as well as supported the yearly event as it all goes to a good cause supporting the community. Yesterday we came by to donate in the same manner as past donations at the back of the store. A woman representing Classy Seconds walked out. I greeted her and stated I have donations - which has always been a happy event for us to do so because we are giving back to the community. The woman representing Classy Seconds immediately stated "what is it?". I stated, "excuse me?" As I was not expecting any response beyond a hello or something in a positive form spoken. She again repeated herself and said "I'm busy and have had 80 donations today and I need to go through and see what it is and if we want it". As I was processing what was being spoken to me by the representative of the store, not only her tone, manner and attitude was one of being irritated that I was there to donate. I replied back asking "so you are not willing to take donations unless you go through and pick what you want?" She replied "yes". If Classy Seconds is full of donations then they should not be taking donations period. Requesting to go through items being brought to them is not only appealing but the representatives attitude was one where we will not be donating a penny in the future whether through donations or monetary form. In the future we will be donating funds to other community oriented groups that actually appreciate people wanting to give instead of providing nasty attitudes and "shopping" through donations. By the way, what was being donated was quite a few items of high value. It's a shame that Classy Seconds employees circumvent those funds helping people in the community who need it the most. read more

Wouldn't even give a one star . Girl acted like I was a inconvenience. Than I started taking off the hangers and she stood and stared at me . I explained to her how I was helping her so she could help me she said thank you and still stood and stained at me. 3 people standing around the register. Other two acted like I want even there !! Worded experience ever today . When you have to help yourself while a young girl stands and stares at you !! Out of breath even !! Wow !! Wow !!! Can't believe you even justified this !!! First impressions are very good. Clean, well organized and a lot of thought and preparation was put forth to make an outstanding visual and shopping experience. I do understand that this store is helping women. So, keep that in mind when you discover that the prices on clothing are very high for thrift. The employees I had interactions with had extremely challenging personalities to work with. Patience is a virtue. Also, beware of the "designer " hand bags. I was hesitant to come to Classy Seconds because of some of the reviews, but really wanted to give it an opportunity because of the cause behind it, and I'm so glad I did. Our entire experience in this store was crummy straight from the get go. The selection of children's clothes is minimal, the condition of the clothing in all departments is poor, and worst of all, the staff is incredibly rude. While shopping, we were approached by an employee who informed us that we can't try on any clothing over our own clothes (my mother in law was trying on a blouse over her shirt because the store has their dressing rooms blocked off for unknown reasons)... the least appealing part of our visit to this store was when a woman, who I assume was a supervisor of the store, interrupted our conversation with another customer and tried defending their ridiculous policy on not trying clothes on. She spoke to us in the FAKEST, most insincere, and snide manner ever, which sealed the deal- that we will NEVER be shopping here again- nor will we be recommending this place to anyone. I was very happy with the selection today. Anytime you shop vintage, it can change moment by moment. I was able to find a Douney and Burke handbag and a cotton T-shirt that were in good condition and fairly priced. I'm really glad proceeds go to benefit victims of domestic violence. I came here to Yelp, to add my opinion of Classy Seconds..... I've lived in the immediate area, for going on 8 years now. The Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and, the catalyst that funds their program, The Classy Seconds Thrift Store, is, in my humble opinion, one of the best in the Carson City area. As with any retail establishment, be it dining, automotive, or retail, there is always some degree of dissatisfaction, or issues with staff and/or the management. (sure, even I've been disappointed there at times) That said, for the most part, I've always been treated fairly by the staff at CS, and, needless to say, (I need to say it), it's vital to the community, and the cause this store supports, to in turn support them, as the money generated here, goes directly back into the community at large, and, in addition, it gives those individuals needing the community service hours, invaluable time within the public sector, and it's truly a win/win situation. It cannot be an easy task managing a store, with hundreds of daily donations, scheduling employees, pricing items accordingly, and, making the gallant attempt at pleasing thousands of customers daily. It's a job not for the faint of heart. And each, and every employee at Classy Seconds, is rich with heart, no doubt about that fact..... I have to say, that accusations and statements such as "I'm pretty sure......", don't hold much validity in an online setting, or, in the world at large, for that matter. There also may have been times, in the past where yes, I felt things might have been overpriced to a degree, or damaged in a manner not consistent with the marked price, and, the adult approach to such a situation, is simply respectfully ask questions. Rather nice thrift store. I'm not sure how it compares to stores in the area. I visited it on a few other reviews online. Their "listed" prices for the staple clothes seemed very reasonable to me (1.00 tshirts etc). They have a "fancy" room where the higher-end labels are kept, I looked around in there too, some nice things, some "average" things mixed in. LOTS of clothes... the housewares/toys/kids section left a lot to be desired, not much of a selection. Definitely worth a stop if you are shopping for adult clothes (even the men's section looked decent) although you know us women, more clothes in and out. :) read more

I had a great experience shopping here. I went in to purchase clothes to wear at church and found really pretty, stylish dresses and tops in great condition. I'm used to paying Sacramento prices, so the prices at Classy Seconds were a welcomed surprise. I also found some Cloisonné earrings and a few other baubles! The lady at the check out was friendly and down to earth. She was working her tail off as the line was getting long and she was the only one behind the counter. I would recommend adding another dressing room and organizing the clothes by size instead of color. It's not a huge deal - if you're thrifting, you expect to search! The atmosphere was in general the same old second hand store type and not as it's name would lead you to believe! The people shopping are not any different than in any thrift store, push and shove be disrespectful to one another, and aside from the little Hispanic guy that was enthusiastic about the job ringing up our items for us the other employee's we encountered where rude and acted as if we did not need to be in the store at all. I live in Reno and sometimes venture to Carson to hit the thrift stores, which seem to be a lot cheaper than the Reno stores. I found the little store hidden off the main street and was thinking I was going to walk into a small dinky store. That was not the case, the store was huge and lots of good lighting..especially with my bad eyes...I was happy. At first, it seems overwhelming. There are lots of sections to the store and I loved the little book area the most. Nice to be able to look through the many books they had in silence. I think the best part of my adventure with this store is that it had really great prices, especially the shoes. Most store price their shoes high but I found that you could get shoe's for a dollar! Take your time when you go to this place, lots of things to look at...lots. Have fun thrifting my fellow thrifters, now on to my next thrift store:) read more

Love the store and the manager and her husband!! The night manager is a hot mess!! Interrupted her own customer at her own register and ACCUSED me of having a doll in a box of china....she asked me what was in the box and I told her ceramic canisters...she did not believe me and in front of God and everyone proceeded to open the box and examine everything (canisters as stated) inside the box. Meanwhile her customer was kept waiting!! I know this is not Nordstroms, but being treated like a crook/thief is a bit over the top. Maybe she needs to work in the back room on a computer?? That is a one star not 3.Way over priced and staff is so rude. They act as if they are running a Macy's department store, and really it's other peoples trash. They charge way too much $for used stuff. The manager is snooty and not customer friendly. The store is clean, have wonderful clothes in the boutique, can find great almost new children's clothes and toys and Tuesday is senior day. It is like most thrift stores, we may find something or not, but I haven't left once without purchasing something. read more

I stop here everytime i'm in town to see my family, it's a fun way to spend time with each other and also find what we all like. I love board games and anything cute or cool i find. They have a lot of board games and puzzles, even a little area for kids... In That area they have a whole bunch of stuffed animals and toys. They have so many clothes and for all ages too, and in the back they have a beautiful boutique, i went in one time and there were these huge paper flowers in the boutique area, and during christmas there were hand made huge reindeer heads made out of paper. Beautiful pieces, i wanted to know if they were for sale. This store is very clean, and all the people that work there are very friendly, my mom is very happy with what she finds in there. She'll spend 30 min in the boutique and come out looking classy as ever. Haha she finds a lot out cute things to wear in there and i find a lot of fun stuff for me as well. I can always find something to entertain myself with and for a low cost too... And not to mention the AC, they always have it blowing in there and it makes it comfortable to shop. I've always loved stopping by classy seconds. I can find something neat for nearly everyone in the family, and prices are ok. They also keep it fun with having a different deal every day. What I've noticed lately is when I check out I get overcharged. I brought my receipt to the woman at the register. She told me everything looked correct but it wasnt, I was rang up twice as much for a sweater and asked her why. She said if they are nicer looking they cost more... It also wasnt from the boutique . that just doesn't make any sense to me. The sweater didn't have any special tag on it. Seems like the people running the place are trying to make more money here and there by up charging. So my advice is if your on a budget and go shopping here add atleast 6 bucks to your total before checking out. read more

I have found some great things at Classy Seconds and it is always on my "places to stop" when in that area. Things are well organized and the merchandise moves quickly. They also have a boutique that has pretty reasonable prices. Now the one thing that I don't care for is the new manager does not want to change prices "out of respect for the pricer" when you find an item of clothing that needs repair. Really? Pass on a sale instead of a small discout? Oh well. That being said, Classy Seconds is the best thrift store in town and a great place to donate your excess! Visit often! read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars . The management is awful. They had a iron basket on the floor with 4 price stickers on it for $15 , they pull the stickers in front of me and charge me $ 50 . I have made multiple donations to classy seconds, and have shopped with them as well. I have never minded the prices, because I knew it was going to support victims of domestic volence, so I felt like between my donations and purchases, I was supporting a good cause. I had a recent large donation to make after spring cleaning, and had called ahead to see what the drop off hours were, thinking there may be some restrictions/different hours due to COVID. I was told you can drop off until 5PM. I have a 30 minute drive to get to classy seconds. I left work early to get there before 5pm, and arrived at 4:45pm. I saw the sign that listed the donation hours as I pulled in. It was posted that you can drop off until 5pm. When I exited my vehicle, no one greeted me. A man seemed agitated as he walked towards my vehicle and kind of paced behind my trunk. I looked at him, wondering if he worked there, and said "hello". Yes, I greeted him. Should have been the other way around. He said "Ma'am, in the future, if you are going to arrive so close to 5PM, you need to call ahead". I stated that I did, and was told to get there by 5pm. He seemed annoyed that I was told that by someone that worked there, and grabbed a bag of my stuff. He then walked off, told someone he needed help, and never came back. I unloaded my stuff, and left. What a way to be treated when you are trying to support a good cause. People do not have to donate to you, we do have a choice, and you should show some appreciation. I will not go out of my way any longer to support the cause that classy seconds is there to be an advocate for. I will no longer donate, or shop there. My business will be given to those who earn and appreciate it, and there are certainly other causes I can support. read more

Quite honestly I would give this place NO STARS if I could. They did NOT have a clear indication of where the donations were being accepted and I was in a large Ford truck which was not easy to turn around in. Then when I finally get to the place for donations I was NOT greeted in a manner that was respectful at all. The gentlemen didn't even talk to me before going to the back of my truck to look at the couch I was trying to donate, I got out and he bluntly and rudely told me that he won't accept it because they didn't have enough room (fair enough, I can understand that) but he would also not take it because a section was missing, but I was keeping that part. I WAS DONATING A GOOD CONDITIONED RECLINING COUCH- kind of hard to be picky when it's being given for FREE. I left feeling terrible as I was really hoping this could go to Advocates and so I called to speak to a manager Trish explaining that I was very upset and she didn't even really care. I purchased an infested baby crib and mattress and the store has a no refund policy. They did offer a credit. I was real leary about buying anything after that ordeal. I drove around to have the employee load it in my car and most of the employees were in the back having a "smokefest". This turned me off. I agree with the post about the kids section. The toys were dirty and broken and scattered all about. They have no public restroom so I had to make a dash out of there and didn't get to browse. Guess it was a good thing. I was in there in December for the first, and probably the last, time. It's too expensive for a thrift store. All the good stuff was in the boutique section and it was quite expensive. I understand the items in the boutique section were nice, but it's a thrift store. I don't care how expensive the items were brand new. They aren't new anymore and people expect cheap prices. I saw several clothing items on the racks in the regular part of the store that were damaged. read more

I was just in Classy Seconds yesterday, and bought two wonderful vintage luncheon plate sets. They were in the original boxes and had every piece with out chips. I found that the items were priced low compared to other thrift stores. The store was clean and did not have the thrift store smell. I was impressed with the book and boutique areas.
