This is a very popular place so if want to make sure to get a seat be up at midnight to book your reservation two weeks before. By time I made mine which took a minute i checked back and only 930 spots remained. They do have some walk in seats available. Whether worth the hype I am not sure but it is very good and will return and could give them 5 stars as almost gave after 1st visit. I liked all 4 dishes. The liver agnolotti was the best. The marinated mackerel was done in a ceviche style though description does not make that clear. The mushroom Mille-feuille was flaky. Wish more mushroom and less flake. Pistachio Bundt cake was good but not breaking new ground. The devil food cake for 2 is supposedly the star dessert and did look good and meant for 2 as person I saw eat by self only ate half. Service was very good as bartender was very friendly. Food came out fairly quickly though supposedly entree take longer to prepare so ask you to order all your food at once. For a wine bar they have a large list. There are options costing in the hundreds but also some around 80 a bottle. They have reading material in the bathroom though not sure they plan on people reading it as the British cook book seems like odd read when on toilet. Had my birthday dinner here and it was a great place to celebrate. The ambiance is quite nice, not too quiet but not too loud with mood lighting. The bread was really good, and also really enjoyed the chicken liver agnolotti and foie gras. The half chicken and pork chops were pretty good but definitely ordered too much food. Finally got the chance to come and try this spot with a friend. It was very good and overall I was very pleased with this meal. Here is what we ordered: - Pea Fritters with Pecorino (a must get, fried pockets covered in cheese) - Kampachi with Kumquat and Yuzu (very light and fresh, this was good but not a standout dish to me, the kumquat and yuzu was used so sparingly it was a bit lost for me) - Cucumbers with spring onion and Calabrian chili (the only pass for me, it was light and refreshing for summer but detected no calabrian chili at all, was nothing special) - Spring Mille- Feuille with ricotta and morels (the most interesting dish we tried and a dish I will absolutely dream about. This dish made the meal and is an absolute must order. Flakey, buttery and creamy but is still airy enough that doesn't make this dish feel heavy.) - Glazed carrots (recommended by the server and I'm glad we got this. These were a nice balance to our meal. these are quite candied and hard to stop eating) - Dover sole with Sherry and Lemon for two (cooked perfectly, a great portion for two, felt so light and fresh. delicious, be mindful that this is a whole fish and you may find a bone or two, I found one) - Devil's food cake (another must get, sweet but not tooth-ache sweet. definitely split with another person as this thing is HUGE!, all of the things you want from a cake, buttery, moist, just rich enough.) - (Complimentary) Coffee Ice cream (paired perfectly with the cake as this was a bit sweeter and nutty. If this becomes a menu item, you should definitely incorporate this into your meal.) Anytime a restaurant says they are "European," I'm not really sure what to expect. But at Claud I was able to see the team's take on European influence and style in both the setup and emnu. Claud is relatively new to the NYC food scene but it has for sure made a name for itself! The items on the menu come in a relatively small portion, but enough to be shareable, which I highly recommend so you can try as much as you can from the menu. Enjoyed dinner at Claud on Saturday night. The food was truly wonderful as was the service, however don't be surprised to be surrounded by rude and unpleasant guests. Quality: Tough to really put a label on the type of food served at Claud, as the unique spin on each item defies standard food convention. The Escargot Croquettes are very good, adding an incredible richness to the item. The Foie Gras Terrine is worth ordering as well. The Mushroom Mille-Feuille is an interesting savory pastry item, but would not be something I ordered again. The Chicken Liver Agnolotti is special, best bites of the meal. We loved every part of our Claud experience - the food, drink, ambiance and service were all fantastic. Morale was low when we showed up for our 10pm dinner as we were all hangry but determined to make it to our late reservation with as much stomach space as possible. Things quickly turned around when we started getting our food. Everything was amazing but our favorites were the mille-feuille, onion bread, red shrimp, and swordfish. Dessert was great and the side of rice was interesting as well. As a pescatarian, I appreciated the fish heavy menu and had lots of options. Sadly, we did not dine at Claud because the hostess was extremely rude. On the phone, she told us there was currently no wait. So, we took a cab and arrived 15 minutes later. Once there, she haughtily looked us up and down and told us there would be an hour and a half wait, and after that, we could only sit at the front bar. She honestly seemed like she evaluated us as not worthy to eat there. We were dressed casually but respectably. There was nothing about us that should have made her treat us that way. Claud lives up to its tiktok hype each dish was unique and the flavors were well balanced. Charred mackerel - better than most sushi restaurants imo. The mackerel is salt cured and charred on the outside but still raw and soft inside. The lemony olive oil dressing on top adds so much flavor! Tomato Mille-fuelle - basically a fancy pizza. Brie, tomato, and pastry, you can't go wrong but nothing unique Pork chop - this was our favorite dish! I never knew pork could be so so tender and juicy, yet crispy on the outside. The onion sauce was so good I was eating it off the table Swordfish - this was good as well but not as memorable Ice cream (strawberry white chocolate) - I am an ice cream fiend and this was so unique. So savory and buttermilky! And not too sweet Pistachio Bundt - our favorite of the two desserts. The ricotta topping adds sourness to complete the sweet cake. A wine bar with food that rivals and honestly outshines the wines, a concept. @ko_ep alumni @joshuaj88 and @chasesinzer recently opened @claud_nyc on 10th Street in the East Village. Tucked away beneath a commercial strip, this wine bar offers more than just good wine--their wine cellar boasts 1,000+ bottles of which they have ~200 on rotation at a time depending on what's on the dinner menu that evening. So come for the wine, but stay for the food because Claud's thoughtfully-curated menu of European-leaning dishes was, from top-to-bottom, pretty phenomenal. At first glance, the menu here is a little daunting because it definitely has items I usually wouldn't reach for initially. The team here has sorcery on their side though apparently because there were really no misses with what we ordered. Here are a few highlights: You have to get the escargot croquettes and the charred mackerel. I know a lot of people will struggle to get over the psychological impediment of, "Why the hell would I voluntarily eat snails," but I'm telling you (1) you won't even notice that they are there, truly, and (2) it achieves the trifecta of a perfect fried potato ball, i.e., it's creamy, salty, and crunchy, what's not to love? The charred mackerel was divine, such a nice fatty fish with a great tart citrus vinaigrette that cuts through the richness of the fish. The pork chop was fire; I generally am disappointed by pork chop dishes because they often are overly dry and heavy. This was not that, and it reminded me of my family's version of the same dish with the smoked onion jus that accompanied the meat. And obviously, for everyone who has seen blurbs already of this spot, you MUST order the Devil's Food Cake dessert for two. Yes, it's obviously giving very much the chocolate cake from Roald Dahl's "Matilda" both in decadence and bountifulness, so you will be taking half of it home with you. Asparagus tender and crisp at the same time.i had the liver agnolotti, which was savory and creamy with the perfect toothsomeness to the pasta. She got her manager and he told us he would charge us a fee for not sitting at the table at the given reservation time. What a JOKE. I've had a range of experiences at Claud, most of them great. The tomato mille feuille we had over the summer was outrageously delicious -- like a tomato soup and grilled cheese all wrapped into one acidic, sweet, buttery, and cheesy bite. So delicious. The mushroom version I had recently, though, fell flat. One of the dishes will always be good, like the Benton's ham special with crispy sunchokes and coffee mayo. That was like a diner breakfast, but different. It felt like a classic Momofuku dish. One or two will likely just be ok. It's hard to make a dish made of heavy ingredients to feel refreshing at the same time, and Claud did it! The beet was so hearty and flavorful that you barely notice it's a veggie dish! I really had some great dining experiences during this trip to New York. Claud was among the best. The service is excellent. Servers were attentive and explained the menu clearly. Great sense of humor among the staff. Staff functions as a team. We had the squash fritters and the kampachi with kumquat and yuzu. Both were delicious and I'd recommend them! We had a bread with truffle and cheese which I don't think I would order again. We shared the Dover Sole for dinner. The level of service seems to depend on your racial background. The positive: While the portions were small, the food tasted great. The server had a solid understanding of wines that they would recommend. The negative: All this however falls short when it is glaringly obvious how attentive the accommodation and service is depending on the patrons' race. A nearby table was also celebrating and they were received warmly and two glasses of champagne to celebrate. We are not expecting anything but at least a simple acknowledgment of happy birthday would have been sufficient. Why ask in the reservation if it's a birthday if your team won't even bother to acknowledge it? Additionally other tables were cleaned without prompt. We had to ask if they can tidy up the table. They forgot to provide us bread and butter and I had to ask in which they only provided us bread. When I asked if they knew this was a celebration, one of the server looked annoyed and looked insulted we would even mention that.
