Fabulous bits of total freshness across the board no matter what you select on their menu. Servers were super knowledgeable about the menu, very quick to grab the order and put it in to be crafted. Personally ordered the Shrimp Ravioli, which came out in a lovely ribbon design, making it super easy to slice the desired fork full size. Desserts were tasty fun bites without being overwhelmed. Farra's cuisine is best described as postmodern - the raspberry mousse is evocative yet formless, and it had an excellent juxtaposition of temperatures. We enjoyed the burrata and bread basket, which features a nice variety of crisps, garlic bread, and a so-called "everything profiterole," functionally the same as a bagel bite. I had dinner at Farra last Friday, when I was in New York for the weekend. My reservation was very early (because I had a play at 7:30), so the restaurant was all but empty (although it started to fill up as I was leaving). This worked in my favor, because it meant I got to talk to the staff throughout the meal - about the food, the restaurant, wine, where they are from. It made a solo dinner extra special. The restaurant is associated with Altera just down the street (the other blue awning), and the staff and the kitchens are shared. Farra is tiny, but that means you can see dishes being prepared from pretty much every seat in the restaurant. I sat at the bar, a perfect seat for watching the food prepared and chatting with their wonderful, friendly servers and chefs. The experience alone was five stars, but the food and wine were also spectacular. I started with an off-menu special: Yellowfin Tuna Tartare with Avocado, Chili Aioli, and Citrus Ponzu, which was delicious. Then - Hamachi Crudo, Cantaloupe, Strawberry, Almond - delicious. Then - Rice, Scallop, Egg Yolk, Trout Roe - delicious. Seeing a pattern? Everything I ate was delicious. I wish I'd room for a dessert, but they did bring me a chocolate truffle with the bill, which was a great ending to the meal. I trusted the server at the bar to help me pick two different white wines that went well with the dishes I ordered, and I loved both. I loved every second of this dinner. Intimate space with great food! I went on a date to Farra and I did not do my research before hand, and I loved it! It is a very small place but the music, lighting, everything was great. The staff was really nice recommending must order dishes and guiding through the extensive wine offers. I had the pleasure of trying the burrata, hamachi, ravioli and Branzino and I it was incredible. The only dish that did not do it for me was the burrata, something about the beats was not right. I loved, loved, loved the ravioli which had flavors unlike anything I have tried before with more of an asian inspired broth which was surprising, would definitely order again. This place really exceeded my expectations - great quality of food and service from this cute little wine bar! My husband and I called an audible and wanted to do an early dinner (530pm) and the staff here were super accommodating and allowed us to walk in without issue. We really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered; even the bread basket + butter were great! My favorites were the burrata salad hamachi crudo, and miso chocolate bon bons. The shrimp ravioli was also good, but we were stuffed by the time that came out so couldn't fully enjoy it. The foie gras mousse (not pictured) was also good, but we felt there was too much of it in one serving and for the amount of brioche we were provided. Farra is a small wine bar in Tribeca and although we didn't get anything alcohol related, I thought the service and food was excellent albeit expensive. Plates are on the smaller size but everything was delicious. I would come back again but because NYC has so much dining options, I wouldn't be running back. The bread (yes not free) was actually really good. It comes out fresh and warm with this butter sour cream type spread and if I could, I would eat bread alone all night. Hamachi Crudo - you can definitely taste the freshness and quality of the fish here. I enjoyed it along with the strawberries and cucumbers. It was refreshing. Burrata - this one was pineapple I believe. this was a combination I haven't had before so it was definitely interesting and delicious although nothing super exciting. Intimate space, great food. The Comte with truffle, apple butter, and rye was a great way to start the meal -- each of the flavors shone through without overpowering the others. Shrimp ravioli came with a very good broth. The highlight was the scallop rice; the rice was just the right amount of crispy, the scallops were rich, and the brothy sauce was delicious. Knowing that the portion was going to be relatively small, I ordered 6 items. The burrata and hamachi were the only items worth mentioning. Visited Farra with my husband on a summer evening and had such a wonderful experience. We loved the burrata with strawberries, shrimp ravioli (agnolotti?- pictured), the zucchini and the raspberry mousse dessert. We throughly enjoyed the tuna, Comte, miso chocolate truffles and our wine (Sancerre and rose). We both left full, but not stuffed. For dinner I would recommend 3-4 from the top half of the menu and 2 from the bottom half. It's a small restaurant, and you have a full view of the (tiny) kitchen. While intimate, the space does feel airy and not cramped. Service was casual but attentive. Would highly recommend for a nice weeknight meal or for a glass of wine and a snack with a friend. Overall, Farra was a lovely spot. the service at this place + their sister spot next door, Atera, was excellent. I walked into Atera and 3 different people immediately greeted me. I didn't have a reservation, and while they had one spot left for their tasting menu, their team was super helpful in pointing me next door to their sister spot Farra as a better option given i don't eat red meat and wasn't really hungry enough for their 12 course tasting menu, but I definitely plan to give that a shot down the road. While more casual, the service at Farra was just as excellent. I had the rose, which was crisp and balanced, to accompany the light seafood meal. I started with the salmon tartare which was delicious and the potato chips added a nice crunch - and you get to control the salmon quantities with a 'build your own' nori approach to the dish. I followed it up with the scallop and roe dish which was delicious. While the rice itself was a little bland, the roe and egg yolk added a nice burst of flavor to every bite and the scallops were phenomenal. I finished the meal with a small dessert, the umami truffles, which were well balanced and a light close out to the meal. The entire experience was quick - but not rushed - and enjoyable. The outdoor dining hut is the smallest I've dined at during pandemic and it's almost uncomfortable. - Salmon Tartar : put in my mouth and quite bland..... - Fois Gras Mousse : at $28 it feels like it's an overly diluted foie (7%) with 93% butter, I don't know there's not much flavor within besides fat. - Lobster Ravioli : dough was little stiff, feel like it's from premade frozen dough. Lobster chunks within was without seasoning. And the sauce was outside kinda as dipping. It was okay I dont think the pasta + lobster + sauce blends together, kinda play their own part. As I felt quite disappointed from our first 3 dishes, thank god ended with one we love--- - Braised Duck Leg : slight heavier on the sauce but I think overall execute very well. Oysters were good and easy to eat the way it's presented (on spoons) but I felt the ravioli and crispy rice were more unique! Th food overall is excellent but they have made some changes so we missed the lobster ravioli gone from the menu. Hamachi crudo was especially fresh and delicious, a must get. The shrimp ravioli was okay, because it was kind of messy to eat and it's not obvious if there were any clean lines to cut so the fillings wouldn't leak out. My SO and I have been twice now, and both times we were wowed by basically everything (but especially by the lobster ravioli, oysters, and rice with scallop!) The first time we went Atera was closed, so I believe the food was a joint effort with the Atera kitchen (or they were somehow linked?) I'm not sure what the case is now, but the quality was unchanged from my first to second visit. Last I went there were individual booths with heating. Celebrated Chinese Valentines Day this year with COVID-19 outdoor dining. Very proud of my hubby for choosing Farra x Atera. Amazing food and service. Everything was thoughtfully presented and well balanced. In the middle of our dinner it started raining and the server quickly moved the table under the ledge without fuss. They seems to be very well verse in this type of situation which was comforting. The rain also did not interrupt the pace of the dishes as we moved into our entrees. Huge let down! The food was mediocre at best, service was nice but they can't handle trickier situations. Price is too high for subpar experience. Food: We ordered the burrata, beef tartare, and scallops. The burrata was nothing special. The beef tartare was really salty and there were small white balls of inedible cartilage inside. The restaurant has perfect individual outdoor structures, each with its own door and heater, which was very romantic, safe and warm on a cold winter night.
