Apps were def the stars, the escarole salad and squash mille feuille were my favs. Striped bass entree was inoffensive but a lil boring, idk! Imo and mom saw the three crab fish sauce and got the msg ick LOL..... Tis a wine bar but why did i try three whites and they were both so just okayyyy ? I sound like a hater lol i had a rlly nice experience overall tho, service and ambiance is great but idk if im dying to come back - enjoyed the small plates but i feel like the wines need to be yummier to match up to snuff and feed into that omnipresent small plate wine bar type beat yk.... Or maybe theyre being subversive on purpose by having mid wine.LOL We ofc got the famous choc cake (ngl was like 80% the reason why i suggested we go) and it was greatttt i honestly probably filled up more on cake than anything else lol

So our flight got delayed by several hours and when we finally made it to NY and through the trains to our hotel, it was already our reservation time. Luckily we were meeting a friend who got there on time and explained the situation; they graciously let us keep the table within our reservation slot. It was originally for 6:15, we got there as soon as we could at 7:20! Our friend had ordered for us as well and got the allergy guide. So super thankful they were kind and accommodating. The spot itself is exactly what you'd imagine a high end farm to table spot in NY would be. Dark, romantic, vibey. Wonderful service. Cozy. We had some great wine, my friends shared a bottle but I opted for the equinoxe glass and it was delicious. The food options for a gluten and dairy allergy were a bit limited for my liking but they were very knowledgeable and I felt safe eating there. I ended up getting the lamb shoulder. I will say lamb is not my go to and it was a bit fattier than I'd like, but the flavor was good. It just felt a bit of a bummer to pay so much for something that wasn't super satisfying. I still would recommend the spot, it was a wonderful experience and ambiance, especially to those without any dietary restrictions. And I would for sure love to come back to enjoy a glass!

Read up on this place in the Michelin Guide and my husband saw their six layered devil's food cake on IG so it was a perfect surprise to end my birthday weekend. Reservations are tough but a must if you want to experience this downtown bistro--it really is a simple-yet-deliciously comforting little menu. The place opens at 5pm and you can (attempt) reservations 2 weeks in advance. We got sat in a cozy nook not too far from the open kitchen and with plenty appetite. First of all...Is the chocolate cake mind-blowing? I'd say no, but you'll have to try it for yourself! ;) The foie gras terrine with walnuts and honey vinegar was my favorite...perfectly paired with a glass of bubbles. We also had the striped bass with clams and Swiss chard and the pork chop with smoked onion jus. All that with a side of lettuce and Parmesan to share and we were happily stuffed. Thank you to the team at Claud for making it a cute experience and adding a little candle to my enormous cake slice. I'd love to come back and try everything on the menu!

my daughter recommended me to try this place. Had a delicious wine, chicory salad, monkfish, and delicious bread.

Great service, food and ambience! I had great Wine, Bread with salty butter, Chicory salad, bitter leafy greens, and Monkfish with rice, peas and ramps

Claud is wildly overhyped. I came in with high expectations and left genuinely confused about the hype. The pork chop was so fatty and so charred that it was borderline inedible. It was the kind of dish you keep trying to "work around" and eventually give up on. The pear salad with hazelnuts was okay, but nothing special and definitely not memorable. On the plus side, the service was good and the staff was attentive. Overall, it feels like an influencer driven hot spot more than a place delivering consistently great food. I would not go out of my way to come back.

Had a lovely anniversary dinner with my husband at Claud. It was a dark and stormy night unfortunately, so when we walked in soaked from the rain, this cozy and intimate restaurant was our refuge. The hostess took our jackets at the door and we were seated immediately for our reservation time (which I booked as soon as they were released to snag a reasonable dinner time!). Our server was very friendly and congratulated us on our anniversary. We started with the red shrimp and scallop skewer. Both were delicious and fresh! Then we had the chicken liver agnolotti--my husband was skeptical at first, but we both enjoyed it. Personally I really loved it! For mains we ordered the pork chop and monkfish. I'm not big on pork chops, but this one was so tender and tasty. The monkfish had a nice meaty bite, I had never tried monkfish before so it was a positive experience. My only slight critique was that when I had the peas, corn and ramps... I sort of got 'bag of frozen vegetable medley' which unfortunately stood out among the other extremely flavorful items. But that was a blip in an otherwise really great meal. The chocolate cake lives up to the hype, I'd absolutely get it again. Our server also gave us a free green tea ice cream with freeze dried raspberry. It was a nice and refreshing tasty treat! Overall it was a wonderful anniversary experience and I would love to go back again soon.

This dinner blew me away. A friend got the reservation and invited me along, I had no expectations. The whole experience was so warm and inviting. The dining room is surprisingly spacious and so home-y. Our server helped guide us to a nice bottle of red that we enjoyed with our dinner. I also had a daiquiri that was delightful, though I will note I believe it's made with sake, not rum, because of some sort of liquor license situation. For the four of us, we ordered 7 dishes and 2 desserts which was just the right amount of food. Every dish felt special and exciting. I'm not usually inclined to try cuts like beef tongue or sweetbreads but the way they do them here is approachable and delicious. The pork chop is worth a visit alone. We were fighting to have every drop of the onion jus with pieces of their bread. My favorite dessert was the coffee ice cream. The cake was nice, not heavy or too sweet like I was expecting.

Wow, I did not expect this place to be this good (which is my mistake, because their sister restaurant, Penny, is awesome). Claud a great wine bar that serves exceptional food. Service is great, and the servers explain the dishes well. The food runs French, but don't expect your typical bistro fare. The dishes are inventive, rich and delicious. Shoutout to the pork chop with smoked onion jus and the chicken liver agnolotti. Those are must orders here. This is one of the best restaurants in the city. Worth your time if you're into this kind of food.

We loved every dish. The shrimp in olive oil and garlic was amazing--we were sopping up as much of the olive oil with the bread as possible. I also really enjoyed the pork chop--we were recommended to get the rice to eat with the sauce, which was definitely the right move. And I loved the chicken liver agnolotti too. The ham was good, but not a must-have. The devil's food cake is decadent and large, but I thought maybe a bit overhyped. We had great service at the bar. I also like that their smaller menu means you can order a decent portion of their stuff even with just two people. I thought the food was way more satisfying than Penny.

Didn't have a reservation but was able to walk in and sit at the bar as soon as they opened. Service was great even though we only ordered an appetizer and dessert. Get the devil's food cake. You won't regret it.

Grabbed a bar reservation a few days ahead and had an amazing meal here. I'd been upstairs to their sister restaurant Penny a few times, but this was my first time at Claud. My boyfriend and I shared: + Tuna with melon and hazelnut oil - excellent + Chicken liver agnolotti - perfect, one of their most famous dishes for a reason + Cabbage with vadouvan - the best thing I ate + striped bass with razor clams - good + Devil's food cake - excellent (took half home) + Ice cream - perfect - the cherries! Would highly recommend getting ice cream with the cake; it's essential for cutting the richness. Can't wait to return!

After coming across a video on EATER, showcasing their 7 layer Devil's Food Cake, I made a mental bookmark about when to come here. My wife's birthday fit that occasion. Getting a reservation was hard, but managed to snag a 6:30 on a Sunday. The space is a bit cramped, loud, with an open kitchen and quite charming. Small menu, but full of unique selections. Seeing striped bass as an entree was a pleasant surprise. As a boy, I used to catch them in Long Island Sound. Never did I think I'd see them om a menu in the East Village in 2026. That, along with the Pork Chop, Arugula Salad w/Parmesan and the Foie Gras Terrine to start , made for a perfect order. The warm bread, was a great vessel for the butter like Terrine. Swiss Chard and Clams went well with the Bass. Arugula balanced out the rich, non-gamey Pork Chop. Perfect portions all around, and left room tor the initial reason we came. The CAKE !!! A huge piece, along with a lit candle (no singing Thank God) arrived right on time. I expected a rich, heavy, dense, overpowering chocolate uppercut. What we got was a flavorful, light, moist, perfect sized piece of cake. Had I known, we may have ordered a second dessert; like the table next to us did. Our waitress was great. She referred to us as her "lovelies"...So cute. We will definitely be back, and hope to snag the table beside the kitchen.

This French wine bar is a great option for a date night or dinner with friends. I went in a group of 4 and so we were able to try a variety of dishes, which I loved. The interior of the restaurant is intimate, romantic, and nice but casual (if that makes sense). Service is stellar. We got two bottles of wine--both of which were amazing. I would definitely recommend trying out their wines! For appetizers, we ordered the foie gras, the shishito peppers with duck sausage, tomato mille-fueille, shrimp, and chicken liver agnolotti. Everything was delicious. While they are most known for their chicken liver agnolotti and shrimp (which I do agree at must-trys), the other appetizers we had did not fall short and everyone in our group had their own favorites. For mains, we got the pork chop, wagyu buvette, and chicken. The pork chop and chicken were the favorites of the night and I would say that you could skip the wagyu buvette (it just didn't stand out in my opinion and was a bit too salty). Wish we had room for dessert, but everything was phenomenal. (Maybe next time!)

First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!
