I come here pretty much weekly to impulse purchase San Marzano canned tomatoes and a fancy pasta for my Sunday gravy. This is a Pasta EMPORIUM! The shelves are lined with every type imaginable, from your classic spaghetti to gorgeous nests of tagliatelle all'uva to the fattest rigatoni you've ever seen. The packaging is just begging to be gifted (in fact, I came here yesterday to complete my Christmas shopping for the whole family). Claudio's also has a nice selection of olive oils, vinegars, jams, and tomato pastes, ranging from the inexpensive to the pricy. The place is small, though, which can become very difficult to navigate (especially in the holiday crowds). I've personally never bought anything fresh from the glass case, but hoards of traveling families convene in this area and shout out their orders, so it can get chaotic when trying to check out as a single, local customer. Is this how native Romans feel when tourists flock to their favorite gelato place? Marinated octopus! Pepperoncini! Mozzarella! A wheel of parmesan! The list goes on. It's an antipasto lover's wet dream. The staff is helpful but also a tad intimidating. Sometimes I think they're judging me for only buying pasta. Yesterday, the guy said, "Really? That's everything?" I think he meant it to mean, "You sure you don't want these gorgeous roasted red peppers?" Either way, it's the Italian Market. Get in, get your shit, get going. Maybe more places should be like this.

The service is lackluster but the products are amazing.

The service is lackluster but the products (just about every cheese you can imagine, olives , pasta, olive oils etc .... ) are amazing.

When visiting Little Italy in Philadelphia you definitely want to make a stop here if you are looking for Italian delicacies. They had various types of pasta types and flavors. You could also pick up any Italian cold cut you may want along with any other items you may need or want. They have so many choices, it can be overwhelming.

I love some cheese nerdiness, for sure, but I find the cheese nerds at DiBruno's to be pretentious and annoying at times.

The four of us found the Dutch on Yelp, and headed there from our hotel in Philly. It reminded my wife and I of some of the neighborhood spots. We enjoyed so much in our own town of Baltimore. The waitress, JENN, was fantastic. I think she had every table, but every employee were doing their part. The chef must handpick the ingredients, because everything was fresh and delicious. My wife and I each had a special pressed fruit drink to start, and it was a perfect appetizer if you will. Very refreshing and energizing. The food was amazing. I had the mushroom omelette. The mushrooms were very fresh and not overcooked. The omelette was thick, but not foamy. All of the ingredients were handled with care on the inside. The taste of truffles was a nice addition. My wife had the salmon omelette, and it was out of this world. Possibly the best omelette I've ever tasted. She agreed. Delicate, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. One of our boys had a huge waffle covered in fresh berries, and just the right amount of whipped cream. He said it was the best waffle he ever had, and I have to agree. Light and fluffy and sweet, he didn't even add syrup. Perfect. Our other son had the double cheeseburger. Again, cooked perfectly, and the avocado was very fresh and an excellent addition. When we are in Philly again, this will be our breakfast spot. An absolute pleasure dining here. I highly recommend.

I ended up getting the Playoff Party flavor, which I believe is only offered when one of the Philly teams is in the playoffs, and it was basically an Oreo ice cream lover's dream. The Earl Grey Honeycomb was also SO good. You could actually taste the Earl Grey tea flavor clearly, and the honeycomb balanced it perfectly without overpowering it. One thing I really liked about their ice cream in general was the texture because it had that perfect consistency where it's firm and dense but still soft. It's definitely on the pricier side though. Our total came out to around $15-16 for two single scoops, with one being in a waffle cone. I also wanted a waffle cone on the side, so they gave my single scoop in a larger bowl instead which I thought was really considerate. However, the waffle cone is on the thicker side so it's not as crispy. That said, for the price you are getting noticeably larger scoops, so honestly I still think it's very worth it. Would definitely come back to try more flavors.

The flavor combos - tahini fudge swirl, pistachio, lemon curd with blueberry basil swirl - sounded great. Unfortunately, the excitement for me was in name only. The tahini fudge was very toasty, but the fudge didn't hold up; pistachio had crunch but lacked the nut's flavor; the lemon curd wasn't tart enough for me, nor did I get much flavor from the blueberries. If you like a less creamy ice cream you'll like the texture. I'll try a vegan option the next time.

She gave us attitude for trying to clean up the previously used table, as well as "loitering" on the sidewalk. By the way, half the bar is outdoors on the public sidewalk. Also, we had brought drinks from a previous bar, which made us receive even more attitude from this waitress due to "not being able to bring alcohol from other places". This would be a totally understandable and easy thing to rectify if handled kindly. No where on the premise are there signs on the PUBLIC sidewalk that we can't bring drinks from a previous bar, nor did she communicate to us in a kind manor that we could not have drinks on the sidewalk. It is legal in Philly to have open containers while walking around, so the attitude and disrespect to multiple members of my party was unacceptable. During the majority of our time, this waitress was chit-chatting with her friends instead of doing her job, and bringing them multiple drinks. It is unfortunate because this bar is super cool, but our waitress was so mean that my review has to be so low. Pics for proof we were here!
