Claudy's had a weird moldy scent that hits you upon entering . It is however very visibly clean and well kept , including the "out of order" restroom. Service was prompt by who I suspect was the manager or owner and the food came out quickly. The rotisserie chicken was incredibly tender and juicy and the green sauce was also really well made and complimented the chicken and the veggie chaufa I ordered . A large side is easily 3 adult servings so the chaufa needless to say was not finished . Even though it was a veggie chaufa , the veggies were more scarce than I would've liked but the flavor was certainly top notch with it being light and pillowy and savory. I recommend anyone to order the roasted zucchini side as that was one of the standouts and it paired well with just about everything . I washed down everything with their traditional purple corn drink and that to me was unfortunately a tad too sweet and I couldn't finish it but it still tasted fine I can acknowledge . This was a solid Peruvian restaurant that I'm glad to have visited but for me , it's maybe slightly overrated .

Found this place when I was researching the best local empanadas that wasn't empanada mama (still love, just needed more). Never realized how close this place was to me so I stopped by and glad I did!! Ps: they serve "happy juice" aka sangria. ;) The ambience is no frills, casual and homey. The staff is warm and welcoming. 10/10

Still a staple in the neighborhood. Stopped by to get me some chicken and shrimp chaufa and I forget the name of the purple drink that they make, but it's one of the best homemade drinks I had in my life. Everything is still deliciously made to order and really good. I also ordered an Lomo Saltado empanada, I prefer the actual dish they you can also purchase here, but I decided to get a quicker version, also tasty. Im always happy to see a small business owner with great food, service and vibes, become a neighborhood gem. So if you haven't been please make a visit and enjoy some great food and service. I'm a big foody and love contributing to local family businesses that actually put love in their food. Being so close to home this place was an absolute treat. Their food here is simply for better words delicious. The Pescado Cevichi is to die for even the juice from it is so tasty very authentic. The Chupe de Pescado with Camerones was so flavorful I was just missing an avocado to add to my bowl. Only suggestion is can you please place the Cevichi on the Uber eats menu so unfair it's not lol. Ambiance can be busy at times so if you're picking up order before hand.

Note to restaurateurs: Don't DM people with passive aggressive comments. As an owner be prepared for feedback without having to get defensive. Message included below. Original Review: 3 stars. Ordered takeout, specifically the Lomo saltado and an empanada, and as much as I really wanted to love it, it was just okay. It's pretty expensive considering the portion size. Empanadas are tiny and for the lomo specifically, it was a ton of rice and fries and a handful of pieces of beef/vegetables. Flavor was good but I likely won't order again.

Special of the day- Aji De Gallina. Stick with what they're know for as this was subpar at best.

Rating has also been pushed up as while I don't agree fully with one comment especially, I honestly do agree that my experience likely doesn't reflect the restaurant as a whole. You know when you go to a restaurant and you think you ordered the wrong dish as everyone had gotten their food already and you were still waiting? I had that experience here several months ago when I was here as everyone else with me got their food and liked it and my food was subpar. I've heard great things about this spot and from the specials board, they listed one of my favorite Peruvian dishes known as Aji de Gallina. Aji de gallina is basically a chicken stew made with aji amarillo (a type of yellow pepper,) as well as a bit of nuts and some spices. While the price wasn't listed, I know the prices otherwise are pretty reasonable here and sat down and waited for maybe a good 25 minutes compared to the rest of the folks with me who waited at most 10-15 minutes. The staff in front were fine and they were moderately crowded with a lot of people coming in to get takeout. After waiting that long, I finally got my meal which consisted of arroz blanco/white rice and said dish with a single olive as well as half a boiled egg which the latter is a usual accompaniment. I would have been fine with it if the flavor was good but it wasn't. It was too sweet, definitely not spicy enough, and just lacked depth in general. The chicken was fine and there was plenty of it but it's hard to go wrong with shredded chicken that's been cooked for that long. The extra kick in the dirt was the price tag. I presumed based on other dishes that it would have been $15 bucks at the most but the price tag was $19 or $20 which was surprising. The price tag should have been up there or I should have paid at the start as likely I wouldn't have ordered it and just stuck with some of their more famous empanadas or their roasted chicken/pollo a la brasa (someone gave me a piece while I was waiting and it was pretty tasty.) The price point combined with the flavor which was by far the worst version of this dish I've had and I've had this dish a large number of times leaves me with a bad experience but I think I just ordered the wrong dish. I presume I would have liked the empanadas and definitely liked the roasted chicken but I guess skip the aji de gallina (as long as it's not stuffed within an empanada which is a fun/novel touch.) 2 for the chicken I tried primarily as my main dish wasn't that good.

Was able to a get a table as soon as we sat. Wasnt too hungry but was pleasantly pleased with the Chica Morada and Ceviche ! Definitely worth coming back for the flans!!! OMG such amazing flan!

This Peruvian restaurant is a MUST ! My boyfriend has been wanting us to visit for some time now and we finally made it! So worth it. Such a cute little restaurant located in van cortland in the Bronx. I'd rate it a 10/10. The food was amazing. We ordered a whole chicken with white rice and some chicken empanadas. Chicken was cooked to perfection. The green hot salsa spread on top of the chicken was the cherry on top! Everything was so delicious ! The chicken empanadas were so tasty and juicy too. Claudys Kitchen did not disappoint ! We also had the sangria which we loved as well! We will definitely be returning to try out more from the menu.

Seeing as I came to Claudy's Kitchen for a quick bite, I'll keep this review short, sweet, and to the point. I had ordered 3 empanadas: the Aji, Lomo Saltado, and Chicharron. I also got a chicha morada (purple corn) drink. My colleague had ordered the Rotisserie chicken and the fried rice. The empanadas were fried perfectly, but I thought that the taste was just okay. Nothing spectacular but not bad at all. My colleague shared her fried rice and chicken with me, which was absolutely AMAZING! The chicken was super moist and had so much flavor, and the rice was flavorful as well. The green sauce they gave us on the side was delicious and only elevated all the food items. The chicha morada was delicious and refreshing. It reminded me of Jamaica but not as sweet. It paired perfectly with the food. Customer service was excellent. The staff behind the counter was very friendly and helped us to choose what items to order. Preparation of the food was pretty quick too, especially considering that everything is made to order. The interior of the restaurant was also very clean and well kept, and the menu was easy enough to read Overall, I think this place is a great spot for a quick bite. I didn't give it 5 stars because I was a little underwhelmed with the empanadas, but everything else was wonderful. I'm definitely going to return to try their other offerings

At Claudy's Kitchen -- Peruvian Empanadas This Michelin Bib Gourmand in the Bronx has the best empanadas! My favorite empanada filling is the chicharon, a crunchy and savory pork pieces kept within a pocket of deliciously crafted dough. I also got a serving of the traditional chicha morada, a Peruvian purple corn drink with ripe pineapple and select spices that I love making at home. So today we tried the chicken and it is DELICIOUS! I also went back for more chicha morada drink and just because we also tried their baked empanadas. I would continue to highly recommend you give Claudy's Kitchen a try. They are on Broadway, right off 242nd street. This is a family owned and run restaurant and their food is made with love. The food here is incredible. I just ate some empanadas, yucca fries, and passion fruit flan, and it was easily one of the best meals I've had since moving to NY. They're doing takeout and delivery during COVID, and have done a great job with their safety precautions. Highly recommended. read more

The service was above and beyond at Claudy's kitchen and the food was absolutely delicious. We were a party of 6 that came later in the evening. Some of our meal choices were sold out. Claudy's husband was so kind and offered to make us a home style meals with assorted pastas and meats. We also ordered empanadas and loved the ground beef ones. Cloudy cooked us a great family style meal and even came out to say hello and thanks us. Will definitely make it a point to return when we are back in town. read more

We've ordered a couple times from Claudy's and will definitely keep ordering! We've tried the roast chicken -- moist and flavorful even if you're only eating the meat and leaving out the skin! We get a large chaufa every time we order. It's a little heavy on the grease, but then again -- it's fried and has pork in it! Love their yucca fries! And we've had three of the empanadas -- all delish! And don't forget the FLAN. The passion fruit is so good, we haven't bothered to try the other flavors. But if you prefer vanilla or chocolate, I'm sure they will be great too. read more

Read so many great reviews of this new spot and was very excited they started delivery service. Needless to say, they did not disappoint! I had the chicken, so moist, with perfectly crisp skin. I am not a white meat eater, but even the white meat was moist. I had the house salad with avocado and all the veggies were fresh. Also tried two of the empanada's. This will definitely be my new go to for delivery! read more

Great addition to the neighborhood~! Having lived in Queens for many years and eating some of the best empanadas in NYC, Claudy's shows up and hits the spot for when we're not willing to drive out to Queens (which is most days). The Lomo Saltado was also really tender - especially considering it was take out. We Highly recommend and will add this place to our rotation. Claudy's Kitchen is a "hidden gem" in Riverdale - Bronx. Very easily located (next to the 242nd station line 1), this place through it's owners - Claudia and Richard - offers us flavourful traditional Peruvian food, homemade delicious chicha morada, and friendly smiles. Last time we went there, my husband and I had shrimp chaufa (fried rice with generous amount of shrimps) and causa rellena (deliciously seasoned mashed potatoes with chicken). As always, I had to close my eyes to enjoy every single bite. As dessert, I had the seasonal pumpkin flan. So creamy, delicate and delicious! I couldn't resist and took home their alfajor (sweetness perfectly balanced) and a coffee flan. My husband and I added a refreshingly cold Peruvian beer for him and an amazing chicha morada (that always transports me immediately to Aguas Calientes next to Machu Picchu). Last and very important, the bathroom is simple but spotless clean. One more time my husband and I left the place all smiles! I can't wait to go back there! read more

Went to Claudy's after a very long day at Van Cortlandt park and had a great experience. The service was very welcoming and accommodating and the food was delicious. We ordered a family combo of pollo which included two sides and a salad. We also ordered salchipapa and Lomo Saltado. Both the pollo and lomo were juicy and everything else was very tasty! I ordered their large chaufa and it was tasteless. On UberEats they have it described as " Peruvian style fried rice with scallions, cilantro, and peppers seasoned with garlic, ginger, and soy sauce." I do not taste, nor see any of the alleged ingredients or seasonings. It is just bland fried rice and steak. read more

I am so glad I came across this place. Tried the lomo saltado, empanadas. The lomo was excellent- fresh, and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. It was really enough for 2. We also shared a chicken empanada which was out of this world, and a very tasty ají de gallina gallina empanada. The green sauce is also delicious, I would like it to be a little spicier, but that's just my personal preference. Highly recommend this place! read more

We just tried this place, as it is fairly new to the neighborhood. We had been reluctant, because it's location is right under the 242 st train, not a spot known for restaurants. We are very pleasantly surprised. This place is great. A real family run joint. They had already earned a good reputation for sending excellent Flan all over the city, but the Empanadas, Fried Rice, and Chicken were all excellent. Don't overlook this place. We have to keep businesses like this alive in Riverdale. read more

I love empanadas and since my cooking is terrible and I can never make them properly, I ordered them from Claudy's. I tried the chorizo, beef and chicken empanadas. Two of each! THEY WERE ALL AWESOME! So fresh and good. Delivery was prompt and they were well presented and packed. They remind me of the ones my mom used to make. I definitely will order from them again! Had the pleasure of meeting the owner yesterday when i stopped by for some dinner. Very welcoming, kind and informative on the menu and traditional peruvian dishes. Got dinner from Claudy's Kitchen. Loved it. The chicken was moist and flavorful. EVERYTHING was great.. the rice, Peruvian rice, yucca fries, lomo saltado and empanadas. The green hot sauce was perfect (I wish I knew the actual name of it.. please educate me, if you do). The kids dug right in. Our friend loves flan and so I got him a couple to try and he was super impressed. Delivery was fast! Very happy to support a local family who are making some amazing food. read more

When I entered the location it smelled really good. Too bad I only came for empanadas that day. The service was friendly and I enjoyed what I ordered. Amazing food and amazing people! We are so glad that Claudy's Kitchen opened in 2020 because they are a very much welcomed addition to the neighborhood. I highly recommend their empanadas which are baked and wonderfully light and flakey. My favorites are the Verde (spinach, mozzarella and caramelized onions), Chicharon (fried pork belly and pickled red onions) and Lomo Saltado (steak, onions and tomato). Their Pollo alla Brasa (Roast Chicken) is off the charts delicious! When I say it's finger licking good, I'm not exaggerating. I learned that Chaufa is Peruvian Fried Rice and it's wonderful. Not at all greasy, just loaded with flavor. One of the things that I really appreciate about Claudy's is the freshness of their ingredients. Everything from their salads to their roasted vegetables are all on point and along with their Chaufa, make a great vegetarian meal. If you haven't stuffed yourself silly, treat yourself to one of Claudy's delicious flans, you won't be disappointed! The best thing I can say about Claudy's is that you can tell that everything that comes out of her kitchen is made with love. read more
