If I'm Uptown on Dyckman late night, this is my go-to spot, no question. When that hunger hits…read moreafter hours, this place delivers every single time. The cheese sticks are a must when you visit. They are perfectly breaded, fried golden, crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. They come out hot, stretchy, and exactly what you want late at night. Their empanadas? Fire. The beef is juicy and packed with flavor, the chicken one is tender and well-seasoned, and that pink sauce... yeah, that sauce is elite. Creamy, tangy, with just enough kick to make you keep dipping until it's gone. I also ordered the chicken cachapa -- soft, slightly sweet corn pancake, stuffed generously and cooked just right. It's comforting, filling, and hits different when you're craving something authentic. Also on a late night on Dyckman, doesn't get better than this. The juices are fresh and refreshing, the perfect balance to everything savory. Service is quick and straight to the point, exactly what you need whether you're grabbing takeout or sliding into one of the small tables to eat in. The spot itself is small and cozy, no-frills, real neighborhood vibes all day. Overall, this is a classic Dyckman late-night Venezuelan staple. Great food, quick service, and flavors that always come through. If you know, you know.

I was scrounging around Uptown hoping to find quality late night eats. Yelp told me the place…read moreacross the street was open, so I made that my destination. Upon arrival, it was not what I thought from reviews and pictures. Las Palmas was also listed as being open late, so I crossed the street to check it out. This was more in line with what I was thinking. Unfortunately, the posted hours are incorrect. Instead of having an hour to sit and be served, I had ten minutes to order take out. The interior was cute and I can imagine people here for a date or eating with the family. I decided to go with tacos. An order of fish and one birria. There are three tacos to an order for $16. I think that may be slightly costlier than nearby establishments, but not by much. I worried about the state my tacos because I had a ways to travel. But my concern was for naught. The bag and food were so considerately packed, nothing spilled. Including the consommé in a cup for the birria. Having the first fish taco, made me instantly decide I want to try this hot and fresh! It has a heaping serving of pico and a slice of avocado on top. My one complaint is that I needed more fish. Not sure if that's an accurate grumble or just me being late night hungry/greedy. I warmed the consommé a little before dipping the tacos. The onion and cilantro taste was perfect. The meat was well seasoned and melty good. Not fatty or tough like other birria I've had. I would absolutely return to this spot and try more of the menu

We were served complimentary thin buttered bread, which was crispy and yummy. For my drink, I had to get the Soursop Shake. This was delightfully thick, creamy, light, and refreshing. I ordered Mofongo with Steak for my meal. The Steak also came with onion and peppers. This dish was plated beautifully, with a pop of color from the veggies. There was boldly flavorful, savory sauce on the side. The Mofongo was perfectly made, well seasoned, while the steak was tender and juicy with grill marks. The sauce made the Mofongo even tastier. Service was solid. Our waitress was attentive and everything came out in a timely manner. I would return to try the Snapper Fillet, Fried Pork Chops, and Mamey Shake.

It was layered with sweet and sour vinegar onions which did not take good. Perhaps for a salad but not steak. The mixed vegetables were delicious. It was cauliflower, tender asparagus, green beans, and carrots. I do not recommend ordering steak from this restaurant. Just wasn't worth the price I paid. I reminded me of cheap stingy tough chuck steak.
