I had my first professional tattooing experience here and I couldn't have been happier! I was so nervous when I walked in but the owner and artist, Vinny, that did my tattoo immediately made me feel at ease. He was reassuring and very friendly and made me laugh. I told him my ideas and we discussed about different options and he understood exactly what I wanted and listened to me and respected my vision. He helped me complete an idea I had and then took it above and beyond my expectations. The drawing was incredible! I wanted a commemorative tattoo about my cat that died this year of twenty years, so it had to be just right. I was wary of a portrait of my cat because I didn't want her looking cartoony. The drawing Vinny drew up was UNBELIEVABLE! It was the exact replica of her likeness with tiger lillies bordering around her. The background was gentle and serene and I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful. The moment he began tattooing the image on my arm, I instantly felt comfortable. (Well as comfortable as it can be having a needle repeatedly drawn across your flesh.) The point is I trusted him wholeheartedly. He absolutely knew what he was doing and the outcome was amazing. As I got my tattoo done, other people off the street walked in and were greeted very friendly by the other two guys working there, Eric and Joe. The work they did on the other people was awesome too. Everyone at Claw and Talon are extremely capable and competent and astounding artists to say the least. I was speechless with my results and am a customer for life. I noticed that there was a negative review of this business and had to write a review myself... Claw and talon is a great tattoo shop; I was recently tattooed by Vincent (Vinnie) and I could not be happier with the work. Not only did he totally undercharge me and work on me for hours, the piece is far more a work of art than I had anticipated. In addition, he took a genuine interest in the work and insisted on retouching it a couple weeks later, for free. Perhaps even more importantly I now have a relationship with a great artist, and will definitely return as soon as I have money to get more work done. Had a great experience being tattooed by Vinny. It's been a while since I had the tattoo done, and I'm still as impressed with the quality of the work as I was the day I got it. I brought in what I thought might be a difficult concept, but Vinny executed it beautifully, and brought to life what was in my head. Vinny took the time to make sure that sizing and placement were perfect, was very professional, very clean and was insistent on offering touch ups, which have not been necessary. Got my first tattoo here and have been back 3 times since. Claw and talons works are original and skillful and the environment is very enjoyable. While some would say it's hard to sit for long periods of time and not move in pain, I found it hard not to laugh. Vinny, Eric, and Joe are incredibly down to earth. The price is really good for most places in boulder and the work is professional. I had no scabbing after two 4 hr sessions. The bad reviews are about a guy who doesn't work there anymore because he was fucking up. Definitely worth a look. read more

I would give them no stars as well if I could. I have never met such a rude prick in all my life. Went in to get some initials and he gave me the third degree about who's initials they were how long have known this person refused to put the tattoo where I wanted it placed. Who the hell do you think you are buddy last time I checked this was my body and I will put whatever the hell I want on it. I am very impressed with the work I just got done by Justin. He did a tree for me on my calf, with my friends' initials in the roots, and it looks amazing. I vaguely told him what I wanted, and what he drew out for me made me even more excited to get it. He is extremely talented, and obviously experienced as well. It was my first tattoo, but his knowledge made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process and he was kind and professional. I am getting more work done by Justin in the near future, and highly recommend him as an artist. read more

I would highly recommend this tattoo shop to anyone. Vinny has been working on my sleeve for the past year or so and I can say from many hours in the chair with him that he knows what he's doing and he's a great guy to get tattooed by. This place is a great establishment. The staff is professional to the point where you know everything is perfectly clean and your tat will be done perfectly, but they are awesomely friendly and familiar. By the time you leave you will have made great friends and have an awesome tat. She was very clean and diligent in making sure I was getting exactly the tattoo that I wanted. I'm really particular about who I let tattoo my body. I was going to get a tattoo while I was in Vegas but didn't like the guy's work. Ended up here and absolutely loved the place.
