Everything is great...until it's not. I don't know if it's under new management, but I have previously been there several times and had no issues. Recently I bought two pieces, one for myself and one I was going to donate to be auctioned off for a fund to help people negatively affected by COVID. I paid over $80 each for the two pieces (I researched how much greenware items cost, and although I could find the exact piece, I will give a very generous estimate that they didn't pay over $20 for the piece). I understand that with the paint and the firing it is expensive. When I dropped it off to get it fired, I gave explicit details on what I wanted written on it (as having detail work added was always included in the price and I think for $80+ that's reasonable). When I went to pick it up, not only was it not done as I asked, a very basic, but important word was misspelled, and in order to fix that, it was going to take another two weeks (it had already been two weeks). The piece was already put "on the auction block" with the details I asked them to add to it. I took mine, even though the detail work makes no sense (I asked for three quotes to be written on each, they put one quote on each, and the one on mine was an obscure quote that didn't make sense without the other two). I left the one to be auctioned to fix the spelling mistake. I called later to talk to the owner (the woman I have dealt with over the years, I think her name was Aimee) and got the same woman who was there when I dropped the piece off (who now I am suspecting is the new owner). I was given the run around; she tried to tell me that they did exactly what I asked them to do, then she said that they couldn't do what I asked because it would have been an additional fee (???) So, instead, they just make up how it should be done, not bothering to call me, and explaining it would cost extra? (which I would have paid, because the description was already given to the auction). She offered to give me a piece to repaint and add the quotes myself (because it's allegedly so hard to do... when I brought my grandchildren a couple years ago, Aimee did detail work right in front of us; I'm not an idiot, it is not hard, if you have that kind of talent, which I don't, and is why I'm okay with paying $80 for something that cost them less than $20). I said "Thank you" and hung up when I realized I wasn't getting anywhere (and she didn't even bother to try to reach back out and see if there was anything she could do to make it right!!!) The auction will must likely be over by the time they fix the spelling mistake (and if I had to repaint, do the detail work myself and then get it re-fired it would definitely be over). I will never go there again. If you can't make something right for a customer when YOU screw up, then you don't deserve my business. I use them to buy and make pieces for donation for good causes. A business that can't help a foundation for our essential workers at this time, definitely does not deserve my money. read more

My recent visit to the pottery painting place left me with mixed feelings, ultimately overshadowed by a series of disappointing experiences. While the concept of the studio is charming, the execution of certain aspects fell short of expectations. Firstly, upon picking up my piece, I was disheartened to discover an unexpected black mark glazed onto my bowl. This imperfection wasn't present when I completed my masterpiece, indicating that something went awry in the process before glazing. This oversight is disappointing and raises questions about the quality control procedures in place. It's disappointing to see a finished product marred by an issue that occurred post-creation. -.- Communication proved to be a significant hurdle during my engagement with the studio. Despite being assured that I would receive a text notification when my pieces were ready for pickup, I never received any such communication after two weeks. This lack of follow-through compelled me to make an inquiry, only to discover that my pieces had been ready for some time. This inconsistency in communication reflects poorly on the overall customer experience. Service-related issues further marred my visit. Initially informed that my friend and I could return the next day to complete our pieces due to a birthday party, we were met with frustration when we found out, on our return, that the studio was closing early again for another celebration. This inconsistency, coupled with the fact that they accept walk-ins, made what should have been a leisurely painting session unnecessarily stressful and time-constrained. Additionally, on the first day, the lack of a warm welcome and failure to explain the pottery painting process left us feeling unwelcome. For those unfamiliar with pottery painting, clear instructions and a friendly introduction to the studio's rules would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and it felt like a missed opportunity to enhance the overall experience for newcomers. read more

Well, when I went I to this studio I was greeted by the lovely owner. She was busy helping a table of children, after greeting me and advising she'd be with me momentarily, then suggested I look around. I settled into a table, and looked around. I was then approached by Amy, the owner, she was extremely informative, friendly and very helpful. I enjoyed the selection and found many projects I liked. Upon deciding my project, I noticed other artful fun classes available in Friday evenings. Amy, was very thorough and helpful. Then a couple of college students arrived, makes and females, they had been before, you could tell they enjoyed themselves alot, as did the table of little ones. I found the pricing to be in line with other clay studios. I'm shocked about the other reviews, as I'm very fussy and a stickler for professionalism! A wonderful place for folks of all ages. I highly recommend The Clayground for an enjoyable respite to explore your artistic abilities. I am looking forward to my next project, and the Friday evening class. My coworkers and I had a great experience at Clayground on Friday, November 21, 2014. I've never taken the opportunity to go to a ceramics painting place before but was really looking forward to it. Amy, the owner, is extremely nice and helpful and showed us all how to go about our individual projects. Every one of us had such a great time socializing as we painted and decorated our pieces. The hardest part is waiting to see how they came out after being fired in the kiln. That takes some time and we are all anxiously awaiting to see how our pieces look fired and glazed shiny. What a fun experience. I think I've found a new creative outlet. Thanks, Aimee, for your kindness to all of us. The atmosphere in the studio was really great and I loved the background music you were playing too. I'll be sure to post pictures later when our pieces are ready to show before and after. My husband and I recently went to The Clayground on our Adventure Monday. I made a beautiful plate to be displayed on my wall and my husband made an adorable chubby penguin ornament for our tree. We thought the shop was clean, bright, well-stocked and organized. The owner was very friendly, professional, and offered assistance every step of the way, from paint selection to painting instruction. We plan to go back again several times as there are so many things we want to make, both pottery pieces and Zentangles (Zentangle classes are offered there as well.....so fun!). We thought the prices were fair, especially for the quality of the items offered, and the amount of time we were able to spend chatting and being creative. You should go! read more

I am a Type 1 person who is always looking for a way to relieve the stress in my life. I heard about ZenTangle through many sources but was too shy to take the class as my artistic abilities are awful. I love to doodle though to relieve stress. I heard about Amy from a friend and decided to take the plunge. Amy was wonderful. She is professional and a great teacher. She assured me that I would do fine. She guided me through every step and I felt confident enough to try my best. I will definitely take more classes in the future. I never painted pottery before and didn't know what to expect, but I had a great time at Clayground! I went with 2 friends on November 24 and painted a cute penguin ornament for my Christmas tree. The owner Aimee was very friendly and helped me through the entire process. She was also quite informative, and I learned more about pottery making (using a kiln, color selection, etc). Brought my 6 year old granddaughter to Clayground for a fun and crafty afternoon. That is exactly what we experienced! We selected beautiful items to paint from a large selection of items available. The shop is very clean and orderly. The owner was helpful at all stages of our work, she was there whenever we needed assistance. I visited Clayground with my 13 year old daughter as well as my 4 year old niece. The prices were fantastic. The owner was so wonderful to work with, so patient with my niece who was certainly making quite a mess! My 13 year old daughter had a blast as well(wasn't sure if she would enjoy it, you know how teenagers are!). It was a great time and we will definitely be back. This is a great place to paint your own pottery. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. They have a variety of pottery to paint and a huge selection of colors that look really nice after being fired. If you are looking to make a homemade gift for a mom, father, grandparents, etc I would highly recommend taking your kids here to make a unique project. read more
