First let me say, if you are looking to have your hardwood floors REFINISHED, I DO NOT recommend Clayton Flooring for it. We had our hardwoods refinished with Clayton Flooring because I wanted to support a local business. We had no clue when we chose them (as a flooring company) they wouldn't be doing the refinishing themselves. They contracted a guy to do the refinishing on their behalf. We were never told that and didn't know that until the morning my floors were to be done. I had went to the store prior and they took notes on what color stains we liked. That never translated over to the contractor. When he got to my house, he never laid a stain palette down so we could see what colors we wanted. He had said that the store had never told him the colors we liked, so we showed him pictures of the color floor we wanted, and also pointed to our kitchen tables color, which is a dark rich brown, and he insisted that he'd lay a stain down that would be the correct color and we'd love it. So they start, and put a coat of seal on top of it, and after work we check, and its the WRONG color. I don't mean a little off, I mean WAY off. It was horrible and way too light. Then to try and "fix" the problem, they tried to talk me into just letting them mix some stain with poly and put that over the already sealed wood. I'm no professional, but it's pretty obvious the stain needs to be in the wood, not mixed into the polyurethane. David had them resand and start over, but unfortunately that made the job go from 4 days to 7 days. So at this point, I get professional advice so I can be more aware of the process and make sure no more shortcuts are being made. This time, the contractor laid a palette of 3 colors, still not the 6+ color palette I was promised I'd get to choose from. Thankfully, I stood my ground and he brought more stains for me to choose from because I wasn't happy with the 3 he put down. Then, based on the professional advice I had gotten, and knowing we want a dark stain, confirm he was going to water pop the floor, since that's necessary for a dark stain to be even. He told me no, because it was "raining outside" and "the floor would take forever to dry while it's raining outside". First off, my floors are INSIDE, not outside with the rain, and the heat is on and windows are closed. Second off, they are can mix denatured alcohol with the water to make it dry quickly, so this guy is just being lazy and making excuses. At this point, I cave and they don't water pop because I really just don't want to be dealing with them any more. Now finished, because he didn't water pop with such a dark stain, you can visibly see the staining isn't even throughout the floor and the color isn't as rich as it should have been had he water popped. So, while I'm happy with my floors, they aren't exactly what we wanted... And, aside from me calling David when my concerns, and him showing up once, we feel he was pretty uninvolved with the whole process. I definitely feel a company should be transparent with the fact they are contracting someone else to do a job you are paying THEM for, when you communicate the entire time with them and put your trust in them, to have to deal with someone else who takes tons of shortcuts. The entire thing was a super stressful nightmare.

    Obvious gap along baseboard.

The job was completed professionally and efficiently. The second time service is to replace a worn down carpet in a small room. Tom came out three times to get the best match of the color based on my request. He is very patient, professional and pays a lot of attention to details. The price is also very reasonable. I really appreciate when the business is getting the job done correctly no matter how big or how small it is!

The company was great working with us by phone, email, and coming to the house to assess things for the project! After installation and payment, though, communications were slow and things weren't addressed to correct problems. Carpet has unlevel ragged seams, gouges, puckers, and missing padding. Downstairs planks squeak, snap, and sound hollow with ridges and cracks appearing right away and getting worse. Pictures and measurements shared with the manufacturer and Molina (who talked with them) determined that the sub floor is the reason for the floor failure. Manufacturer required guidelines stated on the store contract were not followed. The solution is to pull up the planks, flatten the concrete sub floor, and install new planks. Unfortunately, Molina wouldn't do that. Our 25 year manufacturer wear warranty is voided. We're upset asbestos tiles (tested positive) and vinyl sheet flooring to remain were pulled up - putting our health at risk. After four months of asking for things to be made right, we asked for a refund. A conditional refund offered would let Molina take the defective flooring and have us promise to not speak of our experience (see the CRFA at the FTC site about this). We feel that people should know about our experience. We can't stand walking on the floor and seeing it get worse and worse. We will have to go to a different company to get replacement flooring at our expense. We would not recommend Molina.

The team was quick to give us a quote, had lots of samples in the office and overall great to work with. We got several quotes and this company was the most affordable - but we picked them because they were the only ones who were able to foresee a huge problem they would encounter while giving a quote. All other companies missed it. We did feel as though the job was very rushed, we were told 2 - 3 days and it was done in less than one day. Because of this, we felt as though there was quite a lot of nicks in our trim and they had to come back and make some other changes they forgot on the job. More communication AFTER the job would have been appreciated. We had to follow up about billing and the problems. There was no formal walk through or call from the office to see how we liked the floors. I understand the office was busy, but some acknowledgment of our communication would have put us more at ease. They did reimburse us a very small amount for the little damages.
