We are going with 3 stars for this review due to some disappointment with the finished product and overall business dealings. We obtained 4 bids for our backyard project but we selected CLC based on work we personally saw that was completed within the last 2-5 years on homes that were on the same street we live on. CLC was not the lowest bid, but we went forward based on reviews. First the good stuff... Demolition of existing material and forming of the pending concrete work was done fairly quickly. Clint took time to work with us and presented options from Brickform and showed us some pictures of work he previously completed. After spending some time discussing options, we decided on the color scheme, pattern, etc, and the pour was finally scheduled. We were crossing our fingers as it's our first time dealing with stamped concrete. On to the concerns... It was forecasted to be a hot day (90's by noon), on the day of the pour. Thus the CLC crew started very early in the morning to do final preparation work which they did not complete, but soon enough the concrete truck and pump arrived. After the pour was completed, Clint and his crew proceeded on with the stamping, coloring and applying hand joints to the concrete. We were told not to step on the concrete for several days to allow it to cure so we could not see any results of the initial work. After over a week of allowing the concrete to cure, we finally were given the "okay" to be able to step on the concrete. We immediately identified few areas of concern. We found to be visible borders of the stencil used to stamp the concrete, an area that seemed to have been double stamped, and an area that was not stamped. We immediately called Clint and he scheduled to come by within a few days to analyze the situation. As soon as he arrived, he was very honest and recognized where we had pointed out the areas of concern. He had indicated that he would do his best to work on some of the areas and to hopefully make it right before he would seal the concrete. Hence we trusted the process. After he finally sealed the concrete we were told not to step on it and let the seal dry for another 24-48 hours. However we were conservative and did not step on it for 96 hours. After finally stepping out to see the finished work, we did find that Clint was able to fade out the borders of the stencil on most areas we pointed out. However other areas just presented dark spots and rough areas which I believe could not be repaired unless Clint broke out the sections and reworked it. I have provided pictures of the areas of concern for your viewing. Finally, they poured around one of our AC unit's hoses, rather than adjusting properly for it. As comparison, please look at pictures # 24 and 28 posted on Jan 12, 2017 on this yelp review, which is what we expected the "finished" work somewhat come close to. Lastly, the cleanup process and finishing touches were not done as you would expect. For example.... 1) Stones they needed to move to complete the form were not dumped but rather left in the side of my yard. 2) They seemed to have lost the cap to one of the cleanouts which they had to form around, but rather took one from the side of the house and left that one open. 3) They cut a PVC conduit that had electrical wiring which powered a structure they demo'd to eliminate any electrical hazard but did not clean up the pipe. 4) Demo of our yard resulted in rocks that CLC should have dumped along with debris from the demo. Instead, they left a few rocks and pushed it aside towards my fence. CLC will say "we are not an excavating company" but a contractor should clean up debris or mess as a result of their work. 5.) Finally, a portion of our fence they had to break down to allow for the hose from the concrete truck/pump to reach our back yard was not put back together well. I had to nail and secure the boards that they left loose. To be fair, I would say that 90% of the work appears to be done well. However, it's the 10% that is an eye sore and unfortunately very visible. Please feel free to look at pictures we posted or feel free to message me for more details. read more

I understand why people that actually got their work done may rate CLC the way they did and here's my reason. I'm a general contractor and Clint was referred to me by another contractor due to location of job. When I originally contacted Clint, he seemed to be very nice and responsive and knew exactly what he needs to do as he wrote it in contents of a text. Now we have the plans and he responded after a week, he raised his price, then within minutes raised it again so when I questioned why he keeps raising the price from one text to another, he said "I'm sorry but I just don't have the time". This is the second time that we have worked with CLC. The first time was 10 years ago and the work was beautiful. Fast forward 10 years and we decided to extend our concrete patio. We wanted the same color/design and we were so concerned about a proper match. Clint from CLC is unbelievably talented, responsible, honest, and all around a great guy. I have called, listened to the message about them being busy and to send a text. So I sent a text, no response. I emailed from their contact page on the website, no response. Hey if your business is doing so well that you can't return a call, text or email I guess more power to you. One would think in this day and age of highly competitive small businesses, that each opportunity would be viewed with a higher regard. Keep searching. Updated review! Since my review, we received a call back from Clint and he promptly scheduled a time to meet with us. This was our third meeting with concrete contractors. Clint was helpful and certainly more knowledgeable than the other two companies we met with. He provided a proposal within 24 hours, which was great as we had to wait several days from the other companies. After reviewing the proposals and Yelp, we decided to give CLC our business. To our surprise within a couple days, Clint had an opening for demo. Once the demo was completed the new concrete pour was schedule for a few days later. Great thing about Clint was that he took the time to explain the process to us. For the most part things went according to plan. Like with any construction project, you will have hiccups or issues. The key is how those issues are addressed and how fast they are resolved. We did have a few issues and Clint was quick to provide a resolution. There were some moments during the coloring process where we got a bit nervous as the color didn't appear to be what we selected. Clint kept reminding to trust him and the process. We did and our driveway came out absolutely amazing 10 out of 10. Couldn't be happier. Given the size of our porch and the elevation code, we had to use a different material. Which again, made us a bit nervous. Clint did a great jon of matching the color and texture. There were a few questionable spots, but it's important to remember that we are working with concrete and stone. Nothing will ever be perfect. Porch grade is a 8 out of 10. Given Clint's effort, attention to detail and his desire to ensure his clients are happy, he definitely earned this 5 star review. This review is long over due since I had my yard done in the summer of 2017--but confirms I still love CLC (and have recommended them to many neighbors) I had been contemplating a total yard make over ever since the drought turned my yard into a wasteland. I seriously scoured Yelp, the Internet and every contact I knew to find someone to transform my house into an oasis of outdoor living space that I could enjoy with my kids. I had a rough idea of what I wanted done, but had no idea of where to find it until I found Clint's website and saw what he could do with concrete. I LOVED the colors and stamping he created and wanted that look as the focal point for my house. Once I met with Clint, I went for the whole redo. I wanted to convert the dead front yard into a courtyard with 3 colored stamped concrete with a new sidewalk entrance. However, I also needed a new driveway and I was thrilled with the stamped bordered one Clint designed that matches the front patio concrete. CLC is great! Clint was fantastic to work with and their prices are great! CLC poured the concrete for our back patio which was a fairly small job for most concrete contractors. We got several quotes and CLC blew the competition out of the water with much lower prices with more included (stamping and color). Most contractors wouldn't even consider taking us on as clients because our patio wasn't a large enough job. Not CLC. They quoted us one week and were ready to pour by the next. We even gave them a very tight window to work in because we were having a birthday party for my 2 year old daughter and they finished the pouring, stamping and sealing with more than a week to spare. Within a week of my initial phone call with him, he came out to see my existing patio and talk about what I was looking for. He showed me photos and samples of options and made some recommendations. He gave me a quote right then and there. I was impressed by his knowledge and could tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. His quote was very competitive. I ended up choosing him over a slightly lower quote from another company because I got a good vibe from him and was impressed by his work. I am very pleased with my choice to work with him. Clint was able to begin work on my patio right away. The work was completed on schedule and on budget. He was very responsive via text message, even on evenings and weekends. Clint answered all my questions and was always very kind and professional. His workers were also very nice. Spring rains delayed things by a few days in the middle of the project but Clint kept me up to date on when his team would be at my house. I was overall extremely pleased by his communication, which was primarily via text message and a few phone calls. Concrete is messy work, so expect some dust to get on bordering plants and landscaping during the project. But when the work was all finished, Clint's team power sprayed the house and all areas that got messy. I was worried about lasting mess on the house, but it all looks great. I'm very pleased. The patio is so nice! We went with a gray tone and an Italian slate texture. There was a few weeks curing period before the final seal goes on, and man does it look nice after that sealer goes on. His quote was very competitive and there were no surprises. The project consisted of approximately 1800 square feet of concrete. This included removing the old concrete (circa 1951), setting the forms, meticulous grading, pouring new concrete (adding rock and rebar), running rainwater run off lines and installing a post for a gate. More than half of them exceeded my budget. I finally selected CLC to work with for my project and I'm so happy that I did. Clint is casual and pleasant to work with. He answered all my questions with patience. His estimate is not the lowest but very reasonable and competitive. He has very unique sense of design and coloring that blend well with my house and backyard settings. He shortlisted a couple of options that are just about right for me to make the decision but still keeping minor change requests open in the course of the project. I really wanted to give CLC a good review but I can't. We had a new front entryway and back patio put in. I am somewhere in between happy and displeased with the work. The estimate amount was agreeable and there was a walkway he was going to 'throw in'. He came to deliver a color sample and mentioned to my husband if we did the front walkway a different way than we had discussed, it would look better. When he came to start the demo we said we'd like to follow his suggestion and he mentioned it would cost more. Fine, we were doing a big change. Then while in my daughter's room, I heard him outside the window complaining about how much work this job was for not enough money. Granted it was a significant change in front, but he said he'd 'throw in' that one section and we PAID him for the change. Totally unprofessional. Messy, messy, messy. I just had my house painted and he did tell me that concrete pouring is a messy process and I should do it after. Ok, my bad, but there's a messy process and there's total disregard for the care of my house. I'm ok doing touch up, having painted the entire interior of my house, but I'm touching up exterior walls, where they didn't even pour, because of how careless they were. They did absolutely NO prep work to protect my walls. Little things like, they spray painted hot pink through a planter the outline of the new path: fine, but then they swept the bark over to an existing, and staying planter, so now I have hot pink bark mixed in with good bark. Couldn't they have just taken the extra two minutes to throw that stuff away? Or marking the conduit to run sprinklers to the new planters, so I didn't have to dig over twenty feet along the path to find it. I never did find it and I had to call him to come show it to me. I had to ask that he come clean up the mess that was left over: concrete pebbles everywhere, wood from the demo and new forms, debris all over my lawn, buckets, tools. Instead of bringing their own hoses they used mine and broke 2 of them. Ours were old and I realize the nozzle just rusted off. He tried to use that hose after I had seen that it was broken and didn't mention it. There's finishing details that they could have done that they didn't. Where it meets existing concrete, for e.g. they could have smoothed it. Or where it meets existing pavers, they had to remove a section but didn't leave enough width for those to be put back. Now we are going to have to cut those down or have an 11 inch section of dirt between the two sections. There's a low point in the walkway to our garage door where we're going to have a huge puddle of water that collects any time it rains because he didn't of slope the walkway into the planter. And most disappointing of all, with the above things I put up with and more, was the crack that developed on the front walkway two weeks after the pour. I know concrete cracks because it shrinks as it dries, however, there are measures to limit this from occurring. I feel that they rushed to get it poured because of a looming storm (in may) and could have prevented it if they'd taken more time. All that being said, what it comes down to is would I; a. hire him again?; or b. recommend him to friends?, and unfortunately the answer to both is, no. read more

I called almost every concrete company in the South Bay area and CLCs prices were competitive while Clint was also the most professional and knowledgeable person we dealt with. His work truly reflects his passion and experience. Competitors quoted us up to 3k above what CLC did and they were kind of short with the questions we asked (color blending, stamp patterns, leveling, crushed rock usage, sand usage, fracture lines, concrete provider, etc). CLC them just finish working on our backyard patio and we couldn't be more happier with the result. We removed a pool and there was many challenges involved with doing a new concrete due to grading and very details preparation work and Clint (the owner) was amazing about it. The dirt was compact in different ways and and contain a lot of rocks that needed to be removed. Clint and his team gave us a quote that was un beatable and timeline was great. Simply put, Clint did an amazing job on our driveway. Through the whole process he worked with me on doing almost exactly what I wanted. We had to make some changes along the way to get the proper slope and drainage but all in all, things turned out perfect. Starting with planning and excavation, base rock and compacting, re-bar and doing all the prep work etc ... he kept things right on schedule and on budget. Then came picking colors and stamp patterns. This is where Clint really helped me out to get it just right. He has a very good sense of what will look good and how to mix and match colors and patterns. You can give him general and vague ideas and he can really nail it just right. Concrete pour day was probably the most fun. His crew is very fun to hang out with and they all work great as a team. They got the job done very professionally. They all knew exactly what they had to do and when it came time to stamp, they almost made it look way too easy. At the same time Clint was going around and putting his artistic touches with the 5 layers of colors we had picked. We had some rains come through right after the pour but things weren't affected and Clint managed things just right. A month later and he came back to pressure wash and seal and WOW ... the drive way just popped. Everyone who has seen it can't believe how good it looks. Basic hints about dealing with Clint: He runs a small business so you have to be aware of it. He always called me and let me know if he was going to be late or if something had come up. He is very responsible this way. But on the other hand, he is able to give you personal attention and really listen to what you want done. If there are problems he takes care of it personally. I felt comfortable enough to give him the access code to my garage so he could store his tools or do whatever. You just get a very good vibe and feeling about him from the first hand shake :) I would definitely recommend Clint and Cool Looking Concrete and I most definitely plan to have him do more work around our house (as soon as I save up for new projects!) read more

Save yourself a lot of time and trouble - just hire Clint now. I would give him six stars if I could. If you want the details, read on. I spent a lot of time looking for someone to put in a concrete pad for a new spa. That job was too small to get anyone's attention around here, and our backyard patio was in terrible shape, so I expanded the job to include replacing it. I got a number of quotes. Some contractors estimated over the phone based on my estimates of the square footage and description. Clint came out right away. I liked his professional approach, great design ideas, and quick responses to my many texts and calls for details. Clint's quote wasn't the lowest, but it was lower than most. I chose him mainly because he is easy to work with, very creative, and has a great instinct for design and color. He gave us a start date a couple week out, and started as promised. The job went smoothly. Clint's crew is excellent. Carlos is great and really knows his stuff. As usual (for me), we changed the design as we progressed. This means it got bigger. Clint was cheerful and accommodating and helpful through all this. I also made the unusual request to remove the stucco below the concrete line at the back of the house so that the concrete would be up against the foundation and minimize the cracks for termites to come up through the ground. Clint probably thought I was nuts, but agreed and did it well. With all that, he ended up poring a lot more concrete than originally planned, but his upcharge was quite reasonable. They cleaned up nicely after the job was done, too. Much better than I expected. Clint has a great eye for color. We went with stamped, colored concrete with a smooth 12" border. You should see his artistry. Friends, relatives, and neighbors have all marveled at how great it looks. We paid for a 3-color mix, but Clint used five or more, and did the coloring himself. You could see his passion and perfectionism as he worked. For this alone I would hire Clint. It rained immediately after the concrete was in, but not yet sealed. This was the first rain of the season, and a lot of rust and dirt washed down onto the border and stained it a little. When Clint came to seal the concrete (4 weeks later, and as promised) he was not happy with the stains and promised to fix it. I held back a small amount from the final payment for that. It took about a month, due to rains in January, to get that done and I paid the last small amount. The next day we noticed that the recoloring of the border had bled a little onto the stamped concrete. The net result of that was worse that the original stains on the border. I called Clint and sent him some pics. He was very responsive and stood by his work. He came out and personally removed the edge color from the stamped concrete and resealed where needed. Due to several unforeseen issues (not because of Clint or the concrete), our project had to be dragged out for months, but Clint was able to work with us and accomodate our schedule. Clint is a straight forward guy, which I love for a contractor as I don't like sugar coating issues. He's very busy, so somtimes he'll rushing out and won't chat much. don't get offended. In my experience, if there is any concerns, he'll do his best to address it. Thank you Yelpers for a great recommendation. We used CLC for over 600 sq of concrete ft for our back patio. Clint came over and gave us some helpful ideas based on his experience and what we wanted. In the end we love the patio, it looks great and Clint's ideas made it even better than we had imagined. Basically found CLC (Clint) on Yelp read the all the customer reviews and gave Clint a call for an estimate, he was able to furnished reference contacts from his past cement jobs, all his references I personally visited were positive, and the stamp cement work was to my satisfaction. The full demolition and stamped cement job for a residential was quite large (4 x 9yds, ~2600sqft). The job consisted of a pattered border with banding custom driveway plus extensions on both sides of the driveway, walkway to backyard patio, up dated stamped patio and front porch landings, a newly laid out stamped patio, with side extension wings off my retaining wall, basically reinforcing the common side fence, CLC laid out a drain system tying all the down spouts form the roofs gutters, into a common drained running it to the front of the house exiting out of a pop up drain system, CLC pre-plumbed sprinkler and conduit pipes under concrete for future use. Basically this whole job was completed in 2 weeks, the full demolition took only 1 day, Clint's input on the side extension wings was a great idea. The stamp cement consisted of 3 colors, with a different color for the border and banding, a lacquer seal was applied to the cement after power washing and drying. The work access area was through the front fence on the side of the house, which CLC removed and replaced with a studier bolt on post system. Over all no regrets using CLC and would highly recommend Clint and his crew, Cane, Ernesto, and Juan.
