I'm a mega fan of the Scotch Donut with cream filling yet the lemon filling is equally delicious. The maple bars are exceptional yet I only wished more maple cause it's so delish. Always a very polite staff assisting with your pleasures and questions about baked goods. You're wondering if they have coffee to wash your pastry down with and the answer is YES. We had some doughnuts smeared with yummy maple sugar, some cookies & fruit bars for the road. Sometimes I have no game plan and just hit the road. Ended up on I-90 on a particularly warm and windy summer day (7/11/21), never been to Cle Elum, so detoured to get gas and explored the main drag. Saw Cle Elum Bakery and did a U turn to check it out. Wow - well laid out with practically equal parts variety of baked goods and branded merch to select from! Although those fruit pies and some danishes looked enticing, I did see a cool baseball style Cle Elum Bakery Tshirt instead. Decent quality and soft. I tend to wear local sports and culinary destination Tshirts, so I was sold. The friendly young woman behind the counter rang up my purchase and kindly provided a much needed ice water to quench that thirst. I had been stuck in a backup due to construction and distant wildfires at the time. Note to self with a future detour, I'll try not to stop in shortly before closing. This bakery was calling my hubby's name! Once through the doors ... oh MY! The smell of freshly baked breads was incredible! By 1pm, many delectable baked goods were gone, but hubs snagged a DEEEELiscious maple bar.... And there was a small assortment of yeast breads and cookies. Came at about 2:00 in the afternoon and their case had a few things in it, mostly cookies. I came for the cinnamon rolls per my mothers request. Grabbed a bag so we could split it. A bag is 8.50 and you get 6 of them. The ones out only had raisins so I am not sure if they all do or not. They are harder and require them to be placed in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds. Although I'm not a super fan of raisins, these were pretty tasty. I had seen this bakery on tv so I was expecting more. My wife and I stopped into Cle Elum Bakery on our way to Spokane. Free street parking can be found. Credit cards are accepted. There is a surcharge for credit purchases under $5. Cle Elum Bakery doesn't offer indoor restrooms; however, there are two outhouse's located outside. There are a few bistro tables outdoors to sit at on warm days. Indoors also has a couple tables. Cle Elum Bakery offers goods such as salsa, pickled vegetables, queso, honey, dry mixes etc. Clothing paraphernalia is also available for purchase. Cle Elum Bakery serves more sweet than savory. There wasn't much of bread/rolls to purchase. One can order an espresso to go with their sweet of choice. My wife ordered a chocolate glazed donut and I ordered a coconut covered donut. Each donut was $1.60. Our donut's weren't as fresh as they ought to be from a stand-alone bakery. Staff members were friendly enough. Overall, I'm glad that we stopped into Cle Elum Bakery; however, I don't think we will stop in again when passing through Cle Elum. read more

This is the second time I stopped at this bakery in a matter of months. I thought I had done an initial review but apparently not. Unfortunately if I had it would have been the same as today. I got a butter roll and a raspberry filled. The dough part of the raspberry filled seemed rather dry and heavy. Not something soft and pillowy that I would expect to bite into. The butter roll to my surprise I do believe had a touch of cinnamon in it which I have never experienced, wasn't expecting and didn't care for. That was very dry as well. I don't know whether they have too much flour in the dough, I can't imagine that the pastry sat out because I was there at 10 in the morning. Definitely not a fan! I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with many of the others who have driven the star rating down on this place. This is become one of her new favorite spots to hit up when we are traveling over the mountains. Sitting across the way from Owens meats, this carb friendly haven provides a wonderful respite for those who are less interested in meat, or those who love meat but also wish for baked goods. We came in after visiting the meat palace and we're very excited to find that there were plenty of options. The donut selection was plentiful, the cookies lovely, and the espresso surprisingly good! We've become big fans of the cinnamon crunch donut - it's basically a cake donut that tastes like cinnamon toast crunch. The maple bars are legit as are the Seahawks themes pastries, because everything tastes better when your team is good! The cookies are solid with a special shout out to the gingerbread family cookies! Excellent prices, friendly staff and Santa visits in December! Well played Cle Elum bakery! My husband lived in Cle Elum for a couple of years back in the day and we love this place. We actually make sure to stop by every time we are traveling in the area, usually on our way to Leavenworth. The bakery has been around since 1906 and has been family owned and operated for three generations. They still bake their French Bread in the original brick oven which has never cooled in over 100 years! How cool is that? Everything is always delicious, from cookies to donuts, from bread to the cinnamon crisp, which is my favorite. One thing that we always appreciate is how everything is reasonably priced without sacrificing flavor and quality which is a rarity these days, especially for a bakery. Super recommend!! read more

I was appalled by how the older lady who works at this place treated my 7yo daughter. She picked up a t shirt to check it out and did her best to fold it back and put it back where it was. This woman scolded her. I hope people see this review and consider taking your money elsewhere. They are in a small town and need the money from people coming from the city to survive. I just rec'd a gift box that included a 15 oz bag of Wild Huckleberry Pancake Mix from Cle Elum Bakery. No where on this fancy package is a Use By/Sell By date shown. The recipe shows 1 & 1/3 cups of water to be mixed with it which shows no amount how much of the mix is to be used. And, they don't even have their own web site. Nice interior, more of a classic-bakery feel instead of the modern coffeehouse feel more places are going for these days, which I liked. The staff were helpful and friendly. Cookies were around a buck and donuts were $1.50 or so. I would recommend Cle Elum Bakery as a place to go. I'd heard about Cle Elum Bakery's maple bars and had been wanting to try them for the longest time. On our trip to Canada via Washington, we veered off our route to try these donuts. Unfortunately, we didn't get there until after noon and it was slim pickens on what was left. There were a few donuts and some cookies left. I had a chocolate bar, and the donut was pretty good. Yeast donut, not a cake donut, and it had literally a smear of chocolate on top. Then it had some cinnamon sugar on top of it which I found odd and completely unnecessary. The cinnamon rolls looked delicious. I also had a "divinity cookie" which was really just a flat Mexican wedding cookie. It was buttery, soft, and delicious. The counter staff wasn't super friendly. Little neighborhood bakery with donuts, cookies, pies, beverages and merch. I've always heard this place was a destination but I find it to be not much better than most other bakeries of its kind. I got a bag of random donuts and looked through the case closer to closing time so it wasn't full which is understandable.
