Hayday Bakery is absolutely *phenomenal*. I cannot recommend them enough. You think you're getting a plain old M&M cookie? Wrong! It's actually a shortbread -- perfectly cooked: not over or underbaked-- with M&M's: perfect, incredible. If you've ever made shortbread you understand how impressive this is. The crust on the quiche and lemon glazed handpies (!) are perfectly flaky, buttery, and absolutely delicious. I've been known to be annoyingly elitist regarding my baked goods: Hayday not only passed the bar, they've raised it. I will never visit another bakery again without comparing it to Hayday. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! First off, when I walked in, we were all greeted by a very friendly lady who was obviously happy to be serving customers and appreciated our business. She answered several questions about the tons of DELICIOUS looking treats in the case. It was SOOOOO hard to decide. We settled on a maple pumpkin bar and chocolate cookie sandwich. YUMMMMMY. Both were very fresh and delicious and reasonably priced. They serve Olympia Coffee Roasting coffee which is some of the best coffee in the state. The atmosphere is very sweet and there is an upstairs seating area which was nice and warm after coming in from a cold and brisk Ellensburg day. Everything was clean and nicely kept. They also had a memorial plaque for a fallen local law enforcement officer, which in of itself is enough to keep me coming back sans the food and coffee. Called around looking for a pie for our day early Thanksgiving dinner. I found this gem of a place! I picked up a FRESH apple pie, ready to be baked, in the oven. I baked & it was PERFECT! ABSOLUTELY delicious!! When I was there I also grabbed a cold brew & looked around. It's a cute coffee shop with an upstairs to sit, enjoy your coffee, with a yummy pastry. Amazing vibe. Fun baked goods. Good coffee. Quiche and breakfast casserole are you only choices with eggs. The quiche was tasty with a flaky crust and creamy cheese. The sweet onion and goat cheese one is obviously sweeter than the feta cheese and spinach one but both are excellent choices. They were out of bacon and cheese so get here early if you want one of those. The front patio is where I always see people and it's dog friendly and they got beautiful plants. But the back patio is super sneaky with a stream running behind it and cool music piped in with some ambiance lights and plenty of seating and water noises. What's not to love! read more

Good food. Ambience down stairs is middle of the road coffee shop. May be under new management, because service and coffee was bad... Visited twice in one day. Manager yelled at woman leaving shop because she did not bus her dishes. Said signs were up all around shop. I had a hard time finding them, and could not find bin. Was back in the hallway. I came back for a slice of apple pie. I am not a big eater, so asked if they could box half of the slice in a to go. Manager said to put it all in a to go box. I objected, and co-worker put on plate for me. I ordered a Macchiato. The first on in the morning had no foam and was tipid. I assumed it sat on the counter before they brought my order. In the afternoon the co-worker made my Macchiato and then started pouring cold creme in it. I said I do not want cold creme. My drink was tipid in the morning. The manager said that is the way we make it. Very few people drink Macchiatos. I have drunk them for years. In a top coffee shop they often come with a shot of soda on the side so that the customer can savor the flavor of the coffee. A Macchiato should not be tipid! I use to like coming here. The employees are very kind, and the food is great at a really reasonable price. They even have vegan/vegetarian options! However, the owner was absolutely rude. I have been there two times and both I have been chewed out by the owner for really ridiculous reasons. it's such a shame because I want to keep going there, but the experience is overall not charming and extremely unwelcoming. I don't usually write reviews, but I am just pretty disappointed. I get that customers can be really stupid at times, but there is no reason to yell at your customers. overall business would be astronomically improved if the owner put effort into being tolerable. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE A STUDENT!!!!! I came to study on a slow Sunday afternoon, and the manager came and tracked my friend and I down to come buy food so we can sit. There were PLENTY of seats, but he said there was "limited seating". There was also a $5 minimum for card purchases, so he essentially made us pay $10 to sit and drink mediocre coffee.
