This is always a place that we stop when heading over the pass. It is also very easy to drive by and not give it a second look. When you first walk in it looks like an old fashioned butcher shop with display cases from end to end. But the meat that comes from here is spectacular. Some of the highlights are the beef Jerky, pepperoni sticks, smoked sausage and a mix they call the "good stuff". The good stuff is a mixture of their smoked meats and a couple of different cheese cubes. They have a large wall of sauces and seasoning for those who like to smoke meats or plan to grill up a top shelf steak. The service is always friendly and efficient.

As real as you can get! Every time I'm in the area stopping to get some sausage, bacon and meats for the grill. Service is wonderful and places just smell good food. Try their yards beef link and bacon, no better bacon on the planet than this.

meat vending machine outside. Store is about 1 mile from I-90 exit 84.

Go about 1 mile from I-90 exit 84 to this candy store for carnivores, a 130 year old 5th generation family business. Huge assortment of meats & related groceries inside and a meat vending machine outside. Helpful staff. Bring cash if don't want to pay the 4% credit card fee. Easily found street parking. Asked for recommendations and was guided by the friendly staff (with cooking tips!) through the big assortment of hickory smoked jerky, seasoned/marinated/smoked/cured meats and choice meats. Related groceries of ingredients, sauces and dried goods along a long wall. Bought Beef Bacon got 6 slices (1.8lbs) @$8.97/lb =$16.15 pretty good substitute for pork bacon. Crisps up well (then chopped to sauté with Brussel sprouts and some for fried rice.) Smoked Pork Chops got 2 thick pieces (1.35lb) @ $6.98/lb = $9.42 Seasoned Flat Iron got 1 (1.92lb) @ $18.39/lb = $35.31 Marinated Skirt Steak got 2 pkg with each about 3.5 lbs @ $21.98/lb = $75.17 The Good Stuff got 2 pkg with each about 1.5lbs @ $14.99/lb = $27.41 Has a mixture of jerky and cheese pieces. (not too salty so ended up having 1/2 a pkg as a quick substantial snack) History 1887 Owens Meats open in Roslyn to feed coal miners. 1889 WA becomes a state 1937 moved to current location in Clé Elum Service Luke was great, friendly & informative! This place was a must visit in Cle Elum. They had really good smoked pork chops. Cook for 3 mins on each side to brown. The most tender meat ever. And you have to grab a bag of there cut up cheese and meats. It offered a big variety for its price. The only thing i wish it had was pre marinated meats but they had a whole wall of marinades to buy.

Ok, I know I'm in the minority when I say I haven't had the Owen's Meats Beef Jerky. But I have had on numerous occasions their smoked pork chops! My buddy introduced me to Owen's smoked pork chops at his BBQ's. When he would make a trip out to Eastern WA he would always make a stop at Owen's Meats. Now I've inherited that bug. Located in the quaint town of Cle Elum, it's a great stopping point between Seattle/Bellevue and Eastern WA. For us, it's about over an hour's drive, so it's close enough to get my fix. We've also picked up their rib eye, and honestly, the marbling on it is perfect, tons of flavor and it stands on its own, you only need to salt and pepper it, throw it on the grill and just enjoy the meat party in your mouth! A warning, on the weekends during summer months you will more than likely find a wait, but be patient, the staff are super friendly and are willing to offer suggestions on meat prep. Owen's will always be a stop for us on the way back from wine country, besides, what better way to pair the tons of wine we picked up than with a scrumptious steak from Owen's!

Visconti runs a little bit of a mini-empire in the greater Leavenworth-Wenatchee area (and…read morebeyond?). In addition to running the best Italian restaurant in the county, they also operate Fire and Ice (a pizza & charcuterie gastropub, and an ice cream & gelato parlor, respectively) at the Pybus Public Market in Wenatchee, they also have set up shop with a delicatessen in the ground level of their flagship restaurant in Leavenworth, near the western end of Front Street, where they carve and sling some of the most delectable meats, cheeses, and things in jars that you can find anywhere in Leavenworth! Having dined at Fire a few nights previous, my wife and I fell in love with the Hungarian sausage served there, and knew that we had to stop in and purchasing some, before embarking on our long drive home. Between that, some jerky for the kids, pepperoni sticks of various temperaments, mustards, pickled goods and the like, we spent a pretty penny making sure that our Christmas charcuterie board(s), when paired with cheeses previously purchased from the Cheesemonger's Shop just down the street, would be legendary. And they were! Few people, in the history of mankind, have enjoyed such a fabulous feast of cheese and crackers...and meat and pickled things, of course! No matter if you're suffering from the Christmas blues, seasonal depression due to our saturated and sunless winter weather, or just a plain ol' empty stomach seeking carnivorous and/or curdled culinary comfort, Visconti's has the "Cured" for what ails you. There are few maladies or conditions that can't be solved by a shaving of meat, a wedge of cheese, a dab of mustard, and a slice of preserved, pickled perfection. Prove me wrong!

We had stopped by the Leavenworth Sausage Garden for lunch, enjoyed their sausages there for lunch, and decided to stop by their retail store before heading back. It's small, with a deli counter and a refrigerated case containing some of the sausages, coming in packs of 4. We picked up a pack of the polish kielbasa, and bacon bratwurst. They have an award winning beef stick (landjaeger) that we wanted to try, and need to be gotten directly from the deli counter. All of it was decent, higher prices because of its location, with simple service. It wasn't too busy, with service being efficient: they want you in and out.

When you walk in, you may question if this place is real,.. or a front for something else... actually it's a front.. for a business that could take your freshly kill game, and break it down into all the necessary bits. Yup, they have a butchery service. If that isn't why you are here, it's because of the Jerky, preserved sausage, or the polish sausages. The Jerky is seasoned and tastes of perfection. It's salty, savory, chewy, tender, and all things sexy. They have plenty normally, but I have been told by a local, that they do run out, so if you see something that looks empty, just ask. You wonder why you haven't come here before... well, it might be because it's off the main drag, so you are not going to just drive by it.
