Mike came ASAP when I had an issue with bees flying out of my chimney into the house. Even with the flue closed they were flying into the room. I was worried that they were building a hive in the chimney or the cap. Mike went above and beyond. In addition to cleaning the fireplace and chimney, and repairing the inside of the fireplace. He made sure the cap was solid w no gaps , and even sprayed some flying insect deterrent around it. I have a lot of bee-friendly plants and love bees, just not in my chimney! He ended up using some plastic that I had to cover the front of the fireplace, we taped around the edges and openings. Mike is awesome. Really reasonable pricing, honest guy. He got me to get my dryer vent cleaned and now my dryer actually works - how funny! He also gave us some tips on what we need to do to make our fireplace safer and bring things up to code. I also didn't realize that we should choose between having either a wood burning OR gas fireplace, so we ripped out the gas and now get to have real fires :) We will probably be reaching out to have some additional work done, including something for the top of the chimney (something to do with rain maybe?) Mike @ Clean-rite Chimney Sweep did an excellent job today at our home. He showed up on time "even called and left a message earlier in they saying he could come sooner" explained what he was going to do and DID IT! LOL and these days that is reason to celebrate! The time he took to set up for cleaning was impressive, he covered the opening of the FP and set up his vacuum "industrial unit" he explained that it would be noisy for a few minutes and that I would smell a little soot however there would be no dust, he was absolutely right. He informed me of the condition that our chimney was in and suggested a few minor fixes "NO UPSELL AT ALL" but he was truly concerned that he tell me the issues so that I could get them addressed for safety of our home and family. I called four different chimney sweep businesses and Clean-Rite was the only one that could perform the work within the next 60 days. All the chimney sweeps I spoke with were price equally. The owner Mike arranged the time with me and was great at working with my schedule. He arrived 5 minutes early and began work immediately. There was a lot of ashes in the fireplace, but he told me he would clean everything. After the work was done Mike reviewed with me a couple of problems that he told me I could fix myself, and suggested where I could buy supplies. There was not a pushy bone in this guy's body. Mike came by and evaluated our chimneys to find out the one in the family room was really dirty and discovered a part missing on the damper. Mike left and said he would let me know when he could squeeze me in. It was great to be able to communicate through text messaging and get my appointment scheduled. He said he would show up between noon and 1:00. He sent me a text message to let me know he was on his way. He showed up right at noon. He was able to set up quickly and was very careful to make sure everything was covered so there would be no mess inside or outside of the house. He said the vacuum would be loud so if he needed me he would text me. The vacuum was not that loud at all. What more can you ask for, he was on time, he thoroughly cleaned my chimney, he left my house as clean as it was when he got there, he charged me what he said he would charge, he was done in the time frame he said it would take, he did a great job repositioning out logs, and he was very nice. Clean-Rite did a great job on our very old Chimney. As we had just purchased our house, I had no idea what needed to be done with the Chimney other than the inspector said it needed to be cleaned. Over the phone, Mike was already helpful and wanted to see pictures of the fireplace so he could make sure to bring the right parts for the job. He was able to come out on a Saturday (2 weeks before any other company I called!), rates were the same as the other places as well. Not only did he clean the Chimney, but he put in a new Spark Arrestor, and fixed another part he had found (can't remember what it was now... water sealant?) He explained everything and reviewed prices with us to make sure we wanted to go ahead with the additional fixes. My 1992 vintage fire place firebox was coming a part. There was a hole in the rear fire brick panel and the floor was nearing the end of its life. Mike is friendly, knowledgeable, & efficient. This was the first winter to use my new wood stove. As a Senior Citizen on a fixed income it is the only heat source I can afford.
