INCOMPETENT, RUDE AND DISHONEST. I was having trouble with my pool heater. Hired them to come…read moretroubleshoot the problem. The technician arrived and, after some time talking on the phone and going back and forth to his truck, said that a control board was bad and needed to be replaced. OK. He stated the office would send me an invoice for the repair and schedule it. No word for over a week. The next week, they called and said they would be there the next day to replace the board. OK, I asked them what it would cost. It was like they had never been asked this before. They said someone else would have to get back to me. But still asked to schedule the repair WITHOUT TELLING ME THE COST. They sent me a bill FOR FOUR HOURS OF WORK and 975 DOLLARS for a part that retails at $625. When I questioned this, they became offended and told me I was wrong about the part cost and that they had already spent more than an hour diagnosing the problem, saying it was impossible for me to know the part's retail cost. I told them this was from JANDY (the part maker) AND THE INTERNET. They told me I never spoke to JANDY and that I wasn't allowed to, and that they would check the call records with JANDY. Recapping so far. The tech was incompetent and could not figure out the problem. The office was incompetent. They wanted to charge me a 150% markup on the part and FOUR HOURS of labor to replace a board. When I questioned this, they became offended and called me a liar. I called another company; He took a look, told me a wire had come loose, AND IT WAS FIXED! No extra cost, just the service call fee. CRYSTAL CLEAR then sent me an invoice for TWO HOURS' WORK. I replied that there was no chance I would pay that and told them the other company simply reset the wire. They replied that they spent more than one hour diagnosing the problem, and JANDY told them that was what was wrong. They wanted me to pay for the two hours it took to diagnose a NON-EXISTENT PROBLEM because some guy on the phone who was not there told them that was the issue! My reply was NO. They then issued me a new invoice for 1 hour of work. I paid this reluctantly because I had agreed to one hour for a diagnosis before learning how crooked and incompetent they are. Oh yes, they sent me the first invoice marked as overdue!! They emailed it to me on 31 JULY and marked it as overdue on 30 JULY. So it was overdue BEFORE I RECEIVED IT! This was the first and ONLY invoice I had received to date. Prior to this, all I had was an estimate for the COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY WORK!. The second invoice for a lesser amount was emailed on 21 AUGUST and marked overdue on 30 JULY. A good and honest company would simply have waived the fee and apologized for WASTING MY TIME. NOT CRYSTAL CLEAR. CROOKED AND INCOMPETENT: A GREAT COMBINATION. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
