It had been a long day and we were hungry. We drove around, looking for something to eat and had almost decided to give up and just go home. Instead, we pulled up into the parking lot, thinking about going to one of the other places in the same mall. The menu for the other place didn't look as appealing, so we tried Cleopatra. We got a spanikopita plate and kabobs. We decided we had not had such good Greek food since our local place went out of business. We didn't know what to order and the hostess recommended the gyros which we ordered with a salad. Hands down, this was one of the best lamb gyros I've ever had! Since we don't live near any Greek or Mediterranean type of restaurants we usually search them out when in cities. We have had Greek food throughout Colorado, including "Jake and Tellies" which is fabulous in Manitou Springs, all the way up to Ft. Collins area. The lamb was delicious and perfectly cooked and one of the most tender lamb meat I've ever had, even better then Jake and Tellies!!!! Flavors were great. A wonderful place to grab some delicious food. A little pricey but the serving sized filled us up completely. It is not a romantic type, but like it says a cafe atmosphere. Sign clearly states they are open til 9pm. Went in and tried to place a to-go order at 8:45, but was refused service by rude counter girl. Re-iterated it was to-go and not sit down, still refused service, on a FRIDAY night. Highly unprofessional! I used to recommend this place to everyone. Why oh why couldn't I love you, Cleopatra? I had an Egyptian Felafel plate, subbed Baba for the hummus. The felafel tasted like it had been fried in old oil. It was bland and mushy. The sauce on the felafel tasted like sour cream rather than yogurt--I'm not sure what it was, but I felt like I was eating an odd fajita rather than middle eastern food. The baba was also bland--I could barely tell what it was supposed to be. The veggies in the tabbouleh tasted off--like, not fresh. Service was lightening fast. read more

I am extremely shocked by the amount of good reviews of this place. My husband and I were visiting Santa Fe for Easter weekend. All of the restaurants we wanted to try while we were in town had ridiculous wait times so we branched out for something well rated but not as busy. That brought us here to Cleopatra's. My husband ordered 2 Gyros by themselves. I ordered the Pharaoh's Plate (marinated chicken, rice, and a red stew like mixture with veggies and potatoes), and we got a side of hummus. With two drinks it was a $45 ticket. My expectations were fairly high considering the price, and because we've dined in Mediterranean restaurants in foodie cities like Austin where food is prepared authentically. My first few bites of my meal were incredibly bland. I was most disappointed by the instant rice that was on my plate. I LOVE yellow rice at Greek restaurants so this was my biggest let down. I approached the counter to get some tatziki or some sauce to flavor my food, & was expecting dill and cucumber tatziki or rich garlic sauce but received a thinner, salad dressing like white sauce. The flavor wasn't bad and was the ONLY reason my food was worth eating. I drenched it in two cups of the sauce. I did not eat my red stew. My husband enjoyed his gyros, and the hummus was good but not memorable. For the price, we were expecting MUCH more. I would have rated it one star but the service was decent, the food came out quickly and they two kids running the front were friendly. Maybe I got the wrong thing, but for $14 my plate should have been flavorful regardless. If it's not good, take it off the menu. And if nothing else, learn how to make long grain yellow rice. It's to obvious that they are using cheap instant white rice and charging a ridiculous price for half a plate of it. So so so disappointed. read more

Another Yelp find! Good Greek and Middle Eastern food in a strip mall complex on the outskirts of Santa Fe - definitely unexpected. The dolmas were outstanding, both the tabbouleh and hummus were very good. The moussaka is Egyptian style, not Greek, lots of sauce and eggplant in a bowl, quite good. Only 4-* instead of 5-* review, as the chicken (shish taouk) was somewhat bland and the pita was ordinary. Definitely a good meal, will be back if we're in the area again. read more

I ordered a Greek salad with lamb meat and a side of lamb meat to go. Of course, I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED MY BOXES BEFORE I LEFT because when I got home, I had a $3.95 plus tax side of rice instead of lamb. I don't know how valuable your time is, but for the prices and lack of complication contained in the simple menu, if they can't even get that right, I need to reconsider cooking more at home. I would save more time, gas, and frustration that way instead of taking the gamble that MAYBE they could got it right without my having to be management for the cooking staff on my day off, too. Then they have the nerve to get mad because I got mad at their mistake! Wow! Maybe they wanted me to stay home and pretend the rice was lamb? Baa! read more

We went to Cleopatra Cafe looking for a low key meal. We were pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the food and the helpfulness of the staff. We both ordered Gyros, I got the Al Marayam plate that came with tabuleh and a salad. My date had the Gyro. The meat had exceptional flavor and was extremely tender. The tabuleh and salad were quite tasty. The portions were quite large - we both took food home. I recommend this restaurant for good food at reasonable prices. If we lived in Santa Fe we would come here often and work our way through the menu. read more

I had the gyro. It was definitely a good portion, and tasted pretty good, but the tatziki sauce tasted like plain sour cream. No cucumber taste at all. Kinda disappointed about that. I may try the place again. Maybe for the baklava. read more

Pretty good, but not great Mediterranean food.. A few wines to choose from, including some Greek wines (which are not very good, but that seems to be a general characteristic of Greek wines that I have tried..) and Greek beer.. Pretty decent baklava and hummus.. The restaurant itself is fairly clean, service is good.. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. The staff are pretty friendly.. Prices are reasonable. This location is right next to a big new many-screen movie complex , it is a good place to stop before or after a film.. I love Middle Eastern/Arab/Mediteranean style food.. I ate here or at their 418 Cerrillos Road location many times during my 4 years living in Santa Fe (until Nov 2010) because Santa Fe does not really have better options in this department, at least that I know of. Albuquerque has a few significantly better places, but that is an hour away.. read more

I ate there for the first time last Thursday. I ordered the lamb gyros and they tasted average at best, the meat was not fresh, but dry. I also asked the server to bring me a bowl to share some food with a friend. There was something in the bow, which she flicked out with her unclean finger before bringing it to me. I did not use the bowl, of course. About 2 hrs. after eating there my stomach started to churn, and I was off to the races (the toilet races). I was sick all night & the next day. It was 3 days before I was eating solid food. Either the food was bad, or the dishes and/or silverware were unclean. Either way, not a save place to eat, beware. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise that I almost missed because my cell phone navigation didn't show an accurate location. The cafe shares the movie theater parking, so looking around helped. I ordered the Cleopatra plate. The food was delicious! The portion of chicken and gyro meat was more than ample. I couldn't eat it all. Soft pita and hummus made this meal a worthwhile culinary experience for me. My only regret: I'm leaving town and can't take the restaurant with me. read more

I love Cleopatra Cafe! Especially the lamb kabob. All their selections are wonderful. I eat there at least once, usually twice a week.

I am a fan of both of the Cleopatra locations. Good quality food at a great price. The portions are such that I usually have some nice leftovers to take to work. My personal favorite is the George Plate with lamb, but I have found everything on the menu that I have tried to be tasty. read more

love the lamb kabobs! The Greek salad, I've had way better even at home. I wanted to try the Moussaka but, every time I go in they are out. The atmosphere at this location is very casual. I guess considering it's the only resteraunt of its kind in Santa Fe, it's good. I will continue to eat here when I'm craving lamb. read more
