After several days of yummy SW New Mexican cuisine, our group of 9 book club sisters were ready for a change. We opted for Italian. They sat us in an off the beaten path room which was great for us and everyone else in the establishment - we have a tendency to get a little loud. With a group that large, we had a lot of different dishes and they were all pretty darn tasty. At least 3 of us had a really lovely linguine with sauce, shrimp, basil and Parmesan cheese. The pasta was perfectly done, and the sauce rich, garlicky and delicious. Someone had a pork picante with polenta that looked incredible. There was a Bolognese sauce, and a different linguine with peas, cream sauce, parmesan, and prosciutto, just to name a few. The portions were really generous, we could have easily spilt some. They delivered some pretty incredible thick sliced chewy and crunchy bread with really nice olive oil before the meal that was a big hit as well. There were lots of different cocktails and wines to pick from. Our server was very sweet and attentive. Overall we had a lovely time and would recommend it for a nice change of pace. read more

We stopped here on a Friday afternoon having skipped lunch and we were nearby. We are so pleased that we re-discovered this favorite place. This time we had the bruchetta appetizer with a couple of drinks. Then we decided to have pizzas, one for my wife who is gluten free and another for me. [Of course we couldn't eat that much in one sitting,] Both were memorable. Thin crust, toasted cheese on that, with the toppings. We're happy to have some left-overs as I write this. Food was tasty. We were there during Restaurant Week. An item on the fixed price menu was replaced the day we were there and we were disappointed since we all wanted to order it. However, the waitress assured us she was able to serve us that dish. That's what I call "good service" The restaurant was busy too but our service was up to par nonetheless. The burrata and pear was also good just wish they would do less olive oil on the plate. Made it super "watery" per se. The gamberoni was really freakin good. My neighbor suggested we go here for HH since she had gone several times and found the food good. All was fine EXCEPT FOR THE $6 KITCHEN FEE we were not expecting. Neither of us intend to ever go there again. Because of this fee we diminished the waiter's tip to 10% which is an act of rebellion rather than for poor service. Shame on Pranzo read more

Soooo Pranzo.. we just arrived in Santa Fe, we had to ease our daughter into a culturally different area so we chose Italian. This place is very popular but honestly I wan not impressed. Food/wine.. my wife and daughter split a pizza (minus basil .. more on this at the end). It looked good, my wife enjoyed it..daughter was non-committal (her normal mode). I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli. They were drowned in a cream sauce. I like the ravioli, but I had to drain each bite.. the sauce was fine but I didn't want to be a lifeguard to save each bite from the sauce. We also got some bread...it's was very good. Service..I don't think they have enough staff... our server was nice but we felt inattentive. We had to flag her down or another server a couple of times for pop and water refills. Last the check..I flagged our server down for the check... when I got it there were two issues for me. First as I mentioned earlier, my wife and daughter had a pizza and asked for no Basil. On the ticket it said no Basil and a three dollar charge...? Huh? No basil costs an extra $3? I brought that to her attention and she did get it taken off...but what the heck? Last there was a $6 kitchen tip added to the bill. This was not mentioned on the menu..or anywhere else.. tips are for service...not the kitchen imho. So I was running a 3 stars before seeing the check...2 after what I just explained. I know m a tough critic, but I believe fair. Our next time down here if looking for Italian (yes I know Italian in New Mexico. It doesn't make sense but you gotta make your daughter happy) we will choose another place read more

Friday, August 8th. We arrived for our 7 pm reservation booked through OpenTable. The manager was the first person I spoke with--she told me our table wasn't ready and couldn't say when it would be. She blamed OpenTable for letting the app book every 15 minutes. I waited at the host stand, hoping to get at least a time estimate from someone else. The owner came over and said, "It's only 7:04 pm, we're doing our best," and that the manager "didn't deserve to be treated that way." I had been polite the entire time and had simply asked for an approximate wait. By then, several tables were leaving. I pointed to a few that just needed cleaning, but the manager said they were being held for a party of 13. At that point, we left and found a wonderful restaurant right across the street--no attitude, just a warm welcome and a great dinner. Santa Fe has too many excellent dining options for this kind of snooty, arrogant service where apparently, the customer is always wrong. read more

We reserved a table for a party of seven family members, three of whom were celebrating birthdays on or around the date, and they put us in the private room away from the main dining spaces. It was great having our own space to dine, though it's still quite a loud restaurant. I think that's due to having hard-plastered walls with no fabric hangings to deaden the bounce. That said, it was a fantastic dining experience, start to finish. Our server, Gabrielle, was absolutely top-notch in every way, even though she was busy waiting on other tables as well. Between us, we sampled a big portion of the menu. For appetizers, we ordered the warm olives and the pear with cheese, which we shared around the table along with the provided bread and olive oil. One of us had the pizza, one the fish special, one ravioli, and one cioppino. All reported they were even better than expected. The linquines (clam, salsiccia) were excellent, and the order of garlic toast was a perfect accompaniment for all the entrees. We finished up with all three dessert offerings. The creme brulee was reliably delicious and the lemon sorbet came served inside hollowed-out lemon halves, with chunky lemon zest on top - very pungent, but a great balance between the creamy sorbet and the flavor-packed zest. The folks who had the tirimasu ate all of it before I could have a bite, so it must have been good. Libations are plentiful and varied. Its cool to get a good prosecco by the glass, and at a reasonable price. Local draft beers and a big selection of canned or bottled beer complemented the extensive wine list. Be aware: this quality comes at a price, but I think it was well worth the expense for the great meal and the great time we had sharing it. read more

The ambiance was good, and enhanced on this Friday evening by an enthusiastic crowd of diners. The bar was especially alive. The vibe felt authentically Italian, as our waiter at least was of that nationality. Bread came to accompany the olive oil that was a standard part of the table setup. Further evidence of authenticity was the absence of herbs added to the oil, which is more an American affectation. We ordered garlic bread also, which was exceptional. The Norteño Pie Pizza was a bit too picante for most tastes, but I liked the thin crust. One of our party had tiny clams and linguini which was excellent, and another reported that the crispy chicken was very good. All considered, a solid four stars. read more

OK, so this is our go to Italian Restaurant whenever we are in Santa Fe. The food is amazing, but what is even more amazing are the olives. They are so unique and outstanding that it is difficult to describe really how good they are. We had pizza, we had pasta, and we had seafood. My wife and I decided to have a night out in downtown Santa Fe for a wedding anniversary, visited Pranzo's for a happy hour drinks and salad with some linguini .., We sat down ordered 2 beers given a hot summer day ,, to start., waitress was very confused as to offering option of type of beer.. waited 25 mins to get us an ipa and la cumbre ., She came and only brought a single beer .,, we asked why.,,? She was nervous ., at this point we were very irritated,, we asked for the check to leave and go somewhere else to celebrate our day .,but my post is not about the staff ,, my post is about the business practice, she brings the check for a 5dll beer with a total of 11.57 plus demanding a 20% tip .. the check shows 5 DLLs for a beer plus 6 dlls kitchen staff Tip .,, and still expected 20% tip on top of that .., why should any customer pay 6 dlls for kitchen staff when it took a man 3 seconds to serve a beer ,,, I immediately had them remove the kitchen gratuity plus given the bad service I chose not to give the sever a tip .., for a beer .,,, Santa Fe ., wake up .,, there are many places in Santa Fe that offer amazing service without requiring a tip ., The ranch house off cerrillos ., great amazing service ,,, Let's patronize businesses that deserve to be tipped read more

Great service and food. I would give it 4.5 out of 5! (Just always hesitant to give a perfect review, unless it actually is perfect). Beef Carpaccio and the Calamari appetizers truly were five stars. We ate at Pranzo Italian Grill on a Wednesday afternoon after visiting the nearby Georgia O'Keefe museum. The restaurant had a large open seating area and seating at the bar. Our waitress, Kim was friendly and suggested the fried zucchini for starters. It was a generous serving and had a light crispy coating and was delicious. The Pig and Pear pizza had a thin crust, Roasted Garlic Puree, Mozzarella, Prosciutto, Caramelized Onion & and thin slices of pear. The combination of flavors was amazing. I would like to return to try the pasta and other menu items. A couple of other reviewers mentioned a "kitchen gratuity" that was added to their bill, but there was nothing like that on my bill. read more

We came to Pranzo for our anniversary dinner. as a kid I had visited the old location, and I was curious to see how the new one was. We really enjoyed our visit. This is one of the few places that I can find carpaccio. It is very tasty. we also ordered one of the specials, it was a salmon dish, also very tasty. I myself ordered the muscles, and soaked up all the good juices with extra bread. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. this is near downtown Santa Fe, so parking can be tough, but it is part of the experience of Santa Fe. There are also lots of little shops and galleries to look at around the area. read more

In town to see O'Keefe stuff. Looked for a restaurant and this popped up. Reviews were OK. But I ordered a pasta bolgnaise and couldn't find any meat. When I asked where the meat was, they told me 'in the sauce". It didn't even taste beefy. I just walked! Do not recommend that dish at that restaurant. read more

I enjoy Pranzo. I have been here three times and my taste buds are always happy + satisfied. Last night we ordered the Zuchinni Fritti to start. The beet and cesar salad. The Linguini con Salsiccia and crispy chicken thighs and finished with the piñon creme brûlée. We were extremely full and rolled right outta there. In the past I have always ordered pasta and been nice and full and satisfied. Tonight I had the crispy chicken thighs- yum! Crispy- yes! Juicy- yes! Many flavors and textures and complimentary components- yes! Loved the polenta, white beans and the stew everything was in. Hearty and warming! I honestly preferred it over any pasta dish I have eaten there. I also was so pleasantly surprised by the fried zuchinni- get these!!! Delicious, crispy outside, and yummy lemon aioli like sauce to dip- could not get enough. Both salads were decent- honestly could have done without. The linguini is solid, I have had it before however last night Mom said the noodle to sauce ratio was incorrect- not enough noodles and way too much sauce and she felt the noodles were weird and broken up. The creme brûlée was a 5-star situation! Holy Yum! Dense, thick, bursting with flavor and appropriate sweetness for my tastebuds! Atmosphere is pleasing and service has always been prompt. You can ask for bread and there is oil at the table but you must also ask for salt and pepper. Drinks look good but I have never had them. Overall, for me Pranzo is consistently a solid bet of some yumminess and a full stomach. read more

The chicken which is usually a nice chicken breast was literally 1/8 inch thick inside the batter. Couldn't have been more than 2 or 3 ounces of meat. For $30,00 I expect a better dish. Overpriced only for appetizers, forgot to put the grapefruit in the grapefruit margarita, brought the pizza like 40 minutes after we ordered it, and forgot the Cabernet so they brought it like almost an hour later, and the margarita pizza was just cheese pizza with like five little slivers of dried and gross basil, and last but not least the olive oil was 4 months expired. read more

Of all the times we have been to Santa Fe - originally from Albuquerque - We had the best lunch/dinner along with drinks from the bar tender & beautiful hospitality from our wonderful server, Kat who had everything tied together for a beautiful lunch/dinner. It's was truly the greatest place we could've have ended up for our last meal before returning home. We cannot wait to return for a larger celebration or even a dinner date. June 7, 2023 - Pranzo Italian Restaurant (Sante Fe, NM) This was a totally unplanned visit. We had spent the last three hours checking out beautiful works of art at Canyon Road gallery row (over 100 mostly small galleries along a half mile street). What an amazing place that was. Time got away from us on that adventure and before we knew it, it was 1 pm. Our plan was to have authentic New Mexico Mexican food later in the evening, so we wanted something other than Mexican for lunch. Pranzo was less than a mile away. After navigating downtown Santa Fe's twisty narrow streets like a confused tourist for the next mile or so (including a few wrong turns), we managed to find the parking lot behind Pranzo's. There aren't a lot of spaces to park there and there is no parking on the narrow street in front. We got the last space. Taking an Uber or Taxi might be the best bet, or park somewhere else (??) and walk. If you come in from the back entrance like we did, the first thing you'll see is the kitchen on the right and bathrooms on the left. The hostess/server is at the front part of the restaurant by the bar and dining area. When we walked in, we weren't even sure they were open, but one of the cooks pointed us in the right direction. When we got to the front, the server (Kim) told us to sit anywhere we wanted. We chose a high top table near the bar. Other than one other patron sitting at the bar, we were the only ones in that area. Kim gave us food and drink menus and water and told us about a couple specials, one of which was a watermelon feta cheese arugula salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. She let us have a few minutes to decide what we wanted. My wife decided right away she wanted to split the watermelon salad and she landed on the Spinach Ricotta Ravioli pasta for her main course. That pretty much dictated that she was going to order a Chardonnay. But they had two and she didn't know which one to chose. When Kim returned, we asked if my wife could sample the two Chardonnays. Kim was very accommodating and brought a couple samples back. My wife was happy with the St. Michelle. Wine choice resolved! By that time, I had finally made up my mind that I wanted the Linguine con Salcissia. Unsure of what red wine I should chose to go with it, Kim suggested the 2021 Spinelli Montepulciano. She poured me a small sample, and I agreed! Our salad came out quickly and Kim brought over a very tasty couple of thick pieces of sour dough bread with salt, pepper, and olive oil. The salad was light and refreshing. We soaked up the last bit of vinaigrette with our bread. The entrees came out shortly after that. The spinach ricotta ravioli included 8 large raviolis in a creamy sage lemon sauce with fresh parmigiana grated over the top. It was very creamy and flavorful. I thought my linguini was out of this world delicious. It was a meaty bolognese-type tomato sauce with hot ground sausage, roasted peppers, grana padano (granulated bits of cheese like parmigiana) and basil sprinkled on top. I couldn't resist the temptation to add more parmigiana on top. Not sure if it need it or not, but the final result was Squisito! Again, another delicious meal in New Mexico! A final note: they also have covered seating outdoors by the back parking lot. read more

What an amazing feast last night at Pranzo Italian Grill in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Chef Stephen Lemon is one of Santa Fe's long standing chefs. Pranzo was one of my first jobs. I was still in high school bussing tables and snacking was fine by me. I learned early what good food was! They are at their new location 321 Johnson Street. Their menu is fantastic and there is something there for everyone. Mandy, their bartender, runs the bar like a boss. It's always nice to see professional people working while still maintaining their composure even though it's busy! I saved some leftovers for today and what a delight. I cannot wait to take my mother there for Mom's day. I highly recommend this Santa Fe staple. read more

Tried this place for the first time recently. Good to have another tasty Italian restaurant in town. My husband and I thought we weren't very hungry so we split the Caesar salad and the pork schnitzel which was the dinner special. Then we started with the fried zucchini. All was excellent and portions were very generous. Needless to say we brought half the schnitzel home..looking forward to having it for lunch. Our fiend ordered the lemon sorbet and luckily he was willing to share. Service was efficient and attentive. We enjoyed our meal and our evening. Will definitely return! read more

This location is a little tricky to find, we found ourselves entering at the side door. Thankfully it was open and we were directed to the correct host stand. But not before a very rude party that entered behind us raced ahead of us after they also heard we entered in the wrong door. I think maybe a sign outside the door would help. It is also a very dark street and we were walking which seemed to make it worse. I really wanted to love the food, and it is ok, but let me face it, are we in Santa Fe for Italian? The pear appetizer looks very beautiful and obviously takes a lot of work to make, but it doesn't taste like pear at all. My companion loved the linguine vongole (with clam sauce). The marinated olives were surprisingly delicious and even meaty! Not your average dish of olives. I did not care for the shrimp in the linguine Valentino, in the future I would order a dish without seafood. read more

Went here with a group of 12 with a reservation. Seated right away in a back, private room. It took a few minutes for someone to come wait on us but they seemed busy. They have GF pasta and pizza crust available! We started with the truffle fries which our little girl loved. We split a Caesar salad and a GF margarita pizza... ended with a crème brûlée... Could've been better: There was no changing table in the women's bathroom. Service was not as quick as expected for a 5 star... What was great: most of the dishes folks got they really liked. Someone who got steak said it was fatty. There was an appetizer with pears that was very subtle and could have passed for a dessert... the pizzas were delish, the salad was so good and the fries were good... if I went back again, I would get the pizza and salad and that's it because it was plenty of food. My brother recommended the restaurant so that we could take my mother out for her 86th Birthday. My brother also knows Chef Elias. He asked for him and we met a very charming man. To our surprise, the sent a calamari plate to the table for mom's birthday. The Good: Food was absolutely spot on. We had a pasta with sausage, braised lamb, and my brother and I got the ribeye's. Perfectly cooked. The Bad: The drinks are severely over priced for the quantity. Two of the drinks were lemon drops. Very tasty, but the glass was 3/4 for a tiny martini glass. I had a Josh Pino by the glass. It was barely an inch from the bottom of the glass. When I ordered a second, the waitress brought it out in a glass refill vessel, poured it in my glass. New Years Eve dinner to go, I was expecting better quality. The steak was burnt to a crisp, the cheap to go containers leaked al over my car before I even made it a few minutes back to the hotel.
