I accidentally wrote a review for this place that was intended for the Middle Eastern spot on Cordova and I feel so bad. I am not a fan of that place, but I DO enjoy the food at this spot. The gyro is a ton of food and the meat is very well-seasoned. I'm not crazy about the pita bread here, but mostly only because it's more filling and heavy than I like. The Lebanese falafel here is also very tasty, although I'd say nine times out of ten I'd prefer the lamb gyro. The prices are very fair, particularly for Santa Fe, and the food comes pretty quickly. The service is basic and not always friendly, but I feel for anyone who has to put up with Santa Feans regularly, so I excuse these folks. read more

Cleopatra's is a take out joint in a shopping center, so don't come here expecting a restaurant, as we did, or you will be disappointed. And don't expect any unique or cozy ambience either. That aside, the food is pretty good. It tasted fresh and had a good consistency - soup, hummus, falafel. However, the chicken was very well done and therefore tough. And everything was bland - no spices or seasonings! The upside is that nothing was greasy, as take-out middle eastern often is. And this place is not strictly Mediterranean; despite the Greek vestiges, it definitely has a middle eastern flare. If I lived locally, I might come here for take out. But if you are visiting Santa Fe, skip Cleopatra's and opt for something more charming! read more

A friend and I had lunch here, had it not been for Yelp we would have NEVER ventured into this center/plaza/mall on our trip to New Mexico. It's actually a pretty cool property but dead as the proverbial doornail on this Sat. afternoon. We got the hummus, a gyro sandwich and a sheesh tewook (?sp) and everything was pretty good, although certainly not anything like the Chicago style gyros or even any Greek food that I've ever had. My guess is the proprietors are from Egypt and hence a little family twist on typical Mediterreanean recipes. It all worked out well and the staff was just great! read more

A great food-court like Egyptian restaurant. The meals are inexpensively priced, average sized portions. The people behind the counter are pretty nice and food is delivered to your table. I love the [tomato] mussel soup the most. Their chicken dishes are surpurb, very delicious. I should probably give 3 stars, but I really enjoyed my gyro! (Expensive) but large portioned and delicious! My wife, on the other hand (whom is more experienced in this kind of cuisine) was very unhappy!! And as we all know,..."NO ONE IS HAPPY IF MAMA-BEAR AINT HAPPY"! She ordered the Babaganush and Falafel both of which were overpriced . Falafel were not crunchy at all, and the pita were soggy. The reviews brought me to this small order at the counter restaurant inside the Santa Fe Design Center. I was immediately happy to see Avgolemono Soup highlighted on a sign at my eye level. I ordered that along with sweet potato fries, and my husband got a small Egyptian salad and a Mexican beer. The service from Gabriel was excellent and enthusiastic without going overboard. The prices were very reasonable for Santa Fe. My husband's salad was large in both size and flavor. He liked the addition of garbanzo beans especially. The sweet potato fries were also done just right. I've saved the best for last - I love good Avgolemono Soup, and many times it tastes like water with too much lemon. Cleopatra's soup was perfection. The chicken soup was evident with just the right amount of lemon, the rice was done just right and the temperature was warm enough to last through a slow savored lunch. The pita bread that came with it was fought over by the two of us. It was soft and a little sweet - just right for the meal. We almost came back for dinner. read more

I must admit, it's off the beaten path. When you first come up on it, you wouldn't really expect greatness. But greatness is what you get. The atmosphere to eat in is rather lacking, but if the food is this amazing, either take it to go, or enjoy the silence a la Depeche Mode. I absolutely enjoyed every part of my meal. Even the salad was fresh with nice ripe tomatoes (and really, how many restaurants serve terrible, wilted salads? too many...). The gyro meat was succulent, I adore their hummus and tsatziki, and their falafels are also a treat. It's not expensive, and well worth what you do pay. I'm from the Chicago area originally, and up til I found this place was lamenting the lack of good Greek food outside of Greektown in Chicago...this is now in my top 3, including the ones I love out there. read more

I was rather disturbed to see that the only member of their kitchen staff was preparing food without a face mask. He then had his hands in the trash bin out front, and returned to work in the kitchen without washing his hands. 'A middle-eastern place in a mall? Pheh, I will pass!' you think, if you are me and therefore a snob. And the first time I came here I was really unimpressed with the falefal. But either they or I were having a really off day, because Cleopatra's is really pretty good and you can get a filling meal for under ten bucks. Everything is super-garlicky, which is a major plus in my book, and I highly recommend the King Tut platter, which won me over with the hummus. Avoid the tabuli though. read more

Overpriced and not worth it by any means. We ordered a falafel plate, Lebanese salad, and mousakka. The falafel was alright but bland and a measly portion for $12 and the mousakka was cold and undercooked. The salad was the best because it's hard to mess up, though the pita chips mixed in the salad weren't even toasted as with an actual Lebanese salad. My mother complained about the mousakka not being fresh and was told that it was indeed fresh but the cashier kindly offered to give her something else. We got a small plate of baba gannoush upon request, and it tasted canned. Nothing here tasted fresh apart from the salad greens. Seating area is eerily underpopulated. read more

Their dolma is really good also and their babaganoush. They have Pepsi also which is a huge plus for me. Great food, the portion sizes are big enough to share. Local beer is available as well as non-alcoholic beverages. It's the kind of place where you have to pay before you eat which gives it an unfortunate fast food like feel. I had the gyro and my chic had the variety plate. The food is average at best. Its the only greek place I know of in Santa Fe, so this is as good as it gets. The tzatziki sauce tastes more like tahini sauce. Its probably the worst tzatziki ive ever had. Its not the best or the worst Mediterranean Ive had. The falafals are decent and the hummus is decent too. Ill go back because this is the only place to go here. PLus its cheap! read more

I love Cleopatra Cafe. For the price, it can't be beat. The food is yummy, fresh and satisfying and the servers always friendly and helpful. I have been eating at Cleopatra Cafe for many years. Great food to enjoy in person, pick up as carry out, or grab for a potluck event. If you want a cheap trip to the Fertile Crescent, visit Cleopatra Cafe. I've been going to this place for years! It's my favorite gyro sandwich in the country. However last night I showed up at 750 and the girl at the counter said try were closed. She said we close at 8. I looked at the hours posted and it says they close at 9! I was so disappointed not to mention starving!! Ate lunch here. Had lentil soup, falafel sandwich. My husband had hummus. The soup was watery and tasted canned. The falafel was left in the basket after one bite. The hummus was okay, as was the lettuce and tomatoes used as garnish. Life is too short to eat ho hum food. read more
