So after a week in New Orleans we were tired of the deep fried food and poor boys. We were desperately looking for other food options. We found Cleo's on yelp and I have to say it is a great find. The tables are nice and there is plenty of room. We tried the beef chicken combo shawarma and beef lamb chicken kabob combo. Both very tasty and fresh hot from the kitchen. These entrees come with choice of rice or salad or hummus...again all very fresh and flavorful. I tell you I don't normally order chicken but this chicken was tender and flavorful. Never mind the convenience store as it is a bit odd but it was really a buffet of drink choices for us if nothing else. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. I thought this place was average, especially for the price and atmosphere. I live in FL and we have several excellent Mediterranean and Turkish places. The food was good, and I liked the gyro meat but like some of the reviews, I didn't like the spicy hummus topping. I spent close to $20 for a gyro platter and a drink (it was organic which was lovely). I can get twice the food for that price in FL and better overall. Walking in the door here I didn't have high expectations. The front of the business is a convenience store, with tables to the back. The whole place lit with bright neons. The menu is classic greek fair at decent prices. I opted for the falafel plate. The Falafel was mediocre at best, not very flavorful but it came to the table piping hot. We were trying to find something different to eat near the French Quarter and passed by this cute place. It is next door to the convenience store, not inside of it. Plenty of tables, nice ambiance and music. We ordered the eggplant and moussaka appetizers and both were AMAZING!!! Just wow. We also ordered the steak and the lamb schwarma with the hummus and salad. The meat was tender and well seasoned and the dressing for the salad was so tasty! Cleo's has the best Mediterranean food in the French quarter. They are open 24 hours and "T " is such a great server and host. Please don't be fooled by the bodega (yes I'm from New York) in the front of the restaurant. I recommend the chicken teeko from the entree menu with a side lamb chops. I've never had better falafel! Beautifully fried on the outside, and moist on the inside--a real departure from the super dry falafel that restaurants often serve. The flavor was fantastic, too. I had the Falafel Platter with Greek salad and hummus with pita as sides--every bite was excellent.my dining buddy had the lamb wrap and raved about it. The atmosphere is very casual, and connected to a little mini mart. You sit where you like, a waiter takes your order, then you pay at the counter when you're done. Drinks are help-yourself style, with a big refrigerated wall of bottles and cans to choose from. The efficiency of it all was great. The food presentation was unexpectedly pretty and on nicer china. Tried this place for the first time pre-symphony last Thursday and was more than pleasantly surprised. It's also a grocery store, and even has that feel, but the service was great and the cuisine was even better. Three days later and I'm still thinking about the perfectly seasoned and marinated ground chicken on skewers, fresh hummus, and baklava. Not open 24 hours and the reviews about the "very friendly staff" failed on both expectations. I walked in at 3am, expecting the most amazing, best of the 33 new, yada, yada, I was disappointed. Walk in and 2 men who may work there say, "We closed the kitchen" in less than consolatory tones or mannerisms. If you've read the previous reviews you wouldn't expect this from a 24/7 operation. This was the one chance to make a first impression, failed. You do not get to be a 24/7 restaurant only to have someone show up, walk in and be told, you closed the kitchen. I wish this had been the amazing experience others have reviewed. You failed in major ways to make an even good first impression, much less provide the amazing experience others have so graciously bestowed upon your business. To be sure, 2 other gentleman were approaching the door hoping to dine with your establishment, I took the opportunity to spread the word they "closed the kitchen." I would have never guessed that would be my word of mouth review for Cleo's. This was a major disappointment and waste of time. read more

This chicken is so freaking well seasoned like no joke. I have high blood pressure but this was so worth it. It's good AS F guys seriously this is the best Mediterranean food I've ever had in New Orleans and it's surprising because it looks like it's in a corner store (idk I ordered on ubereats) it's literally amazing!!!! To get food this good at any hour in NOLA is amazing. The eggplant is 10/10, spicy and perfectly cooked. The red lentil soup is so good(I had it 4 times in a 12 day stay). French fries are great, Hummus is solid, Falafel is good. Be patient as they get busy at times but definitely a must visit! read more

Been coming here as a regular for probably a year. I usually order their hummus appetizer. First they changed the order to be less hummus, fine it was too much to begin with. Now they are giving one small sized piece of pita bread for their $10 appetizer. I went back less than 5 minutes after ordering to pay for a couple more pieces of bread, was told I didn't meet the credit card limit. Food portions have always been horrible, but now they are despicable. And since one of their regular guys has taken less hours, service is subpar at best. Looking for a restaurant that would cater to my vegetarian diet and husband's desire for seafood (and make sure it didn't touch my food due to allergy issues!) we stumbled across Cleo's on Canal. Y'all. This food is *so* good. Even the sides are enough to fill you up and healthy enough that you can get right back to walking miles antique hunting or hand grenade drinking, you know. Whichever. He even read my order correctly, but lamb shank is NOT Lamb Shwarma. The delivery service got it right and delivered the package, but someone at Cleo's messed this costly meal up tremendously. I was pleasantly surprised by Cleo's. I had a craving for some tabbouleh and Cleo's was around the corner from my hotel. The lamb wrap was very good as was the tabouli. 24/7 YASS! The food deserved way more stars, but our experience says otherwise. It's a inside convenient store/market. We walked in around 4am, not very busy. We ordered 3 gyro plates and a lamb shank plate. The hummus was super velvety and the meat was flavorful! We really couldn't ask for better for at 4am. Here's what went wrong. We were charged for a $15 gratuity (20% tip) when there was only 4 of us. They didn't even tell us about the charge when we paid at the register. Plus, we had tip an extra $10 not knowing about the charge. So there was a total of $25 tip on a $65 ticket. Next time, We'll take the food to-go. Let's hope they don't charge extra for that. read more
