I had a great experience with Clever Electric. I was looking to install a Tesla Powerwall 2 battery backup to complement by existing solar panels. I went to the Tesla site and found out that Clever Electric is a certified Tesla Installer. I connected with Clever (My Ngo) and a few other Tesla certified installers. I received a really good quote immediately from My. He also offered that if I took care of the permits, I could get a further reduction. Since his quote was already a couple of thousand less that the Tesla installation cost even with the permit, I decided to go ahead with him. I also realized that I could get a further $500 Tesla rebate if I could get the installation done in two and half weeks. I immediately connected with My on Sunday when I realized this and he picked up my call and assured me that he would help me as much as he can to get the installation done on time. I then proceeded to order the Tesla Powerwall 2. My came by my house and took a look at the installation. He then realized that he needed to do a lot more work than anticipated. He was very apologetic. I decided to do the permits myself. Within a week, I got the Powerwall 2. I filled in the paperwork for the permits - My helped me quite a bit there. And I was able to get the permit by mid next week. I connected with My for installation. He was very surprised that this got done so quickly. He was able to free up time for me right away. He and his helper spent 3.5 days installing it. The additional work was really substantial because he had to move a large number of circuits from one side of the house to another - going through the sub-floor, attic etc. He did an absolutely amazing job - he was very meticulous. He used absolutely high quality materials. The inspector came and unfortunately because of my misunderstanding, the battery needed to be moved about 12 inches. Note the battery is very heavy and difficult to move. My was very supportive. He came again the following Saturday with two helpers because of the weight of the battery. And they moved it by a foot. This took the better part of the morning. Finally he was there for the final inspection and made sure that the inspection went well. My was extremely supportive throughout this whole experience. His work has been of very high quality and is very conscientious. He did an excellent job with Tesla Powerwall 2 installation. He did not cut any corners even though the job was much much more than anticipated - I realized that based on the amount of time that My and his helpers spent on the job. He never once complained about the unexpected extra work. I would highly recommend My, he is very decent, dedicated person. read more

What I needed done: My son's room has a stupid fluorescent lighting ballast hanging on the ceiling for lighting and I hate it. The cord runs down the wall and INTO the socket where I can't get to it (as it's electrical and will kill me). I also need that outlet to be always on instead of switched and the lighting to run directly from the switch. Called Clever Electric last Thursday. We set up a date for Tuesday. He arrived at around 8:10 a.m., looked at the room and went to work. He and another electrician had the job done in LESS THAN AN HOUR. The good news? They didn't even have to turn off the electricity in the house to do it! Good work. Great price. They put plastic sheets down over all of my son's stuff before working, cleaned up after themselves and generally left the house nicer than it had been before they got there. Great Electrician! After getting few bids, I decided to try this company after I saw a review for a Eichler panel upgrade. Pricing was fair than most of the other bids I got. Job schedule was flexible and they were able to upgrade my Eichler panel to 200amp at the same location where the old panel was with minimum downtime. (No overnight without power). I hired Clever Electric to do the electrical work for my entire house that I'm remodeling. It's a huge project and since my house is about 100 years old, you can imagine how dated the electrical was. First of all, I chose Clever Electric because My submitted the most thorough and detailed estimate. Each item was very specific with its cost individually. They spent over 2 weeks at my house cutting through drywall and putting in new wiring. They always cleaned up their mess and hauled their garbage away. I called Clever Electric yesterday to inquire about some electrical work needed. The first thing he said was "it will cost you $129 for me to come out and look" in a not so nice manner. He probably was on the job or in a bad mood but if you can't answer the phone in a nice way then don't answer. Clever Electric removed old florescent tubing, closed up the ceiling indentation and installed 7 LED recessed lighting fixtures. You can barely see the difference between the old ceiling, paint and texture and the replaced ceiling, paint and texture. I had Clever Electric ground my entire house (small 3 bed 2 bath), replace the electrical panel, and install recessed lighting in the living room. They sent a 3 man crew up to El Cerrito (1 hour drive), arrived at 8:00am on Saturday morning, and finished at 6:00pm the same day. Clever Electric is licensed and insured, and would have done the work with a permit for a few hundred dollars if I had chosen that. What was most impressive and very much appreciated was that My worked closely with us to confirm along the way adjustments and options for where outlets and switches could be placed to meet the code yet minimize the need to open up the walls. He re-assembled the removed fluorescent fixture and put this at the side. And tidied up the new ceiling light box and offered to sweep the floor when the job was done. The work performed is professional and he cleans up before leaving. I am very impressed. I had them add a 240 in the kitchen and also added a 20amp 240 plug for my electric car.
