Picture this: I'm in my living room, eagerly unboxing my new lamp, carefully peeling away layers of crumbling styrofoam as hundreds of tiny white flakes scatter like confetti around the house. After assembling several pieces, I discover the wires in one section have completely snapped. I call the store, expecting a smooth resolution. Instead, I'm cheerfully asked if I happen to live nearby and can bring it back so they can ship me a new one. Interesting. They make the mistake, and I get to spend my time fixing it? I ask if FedEx can pick it up instead. At first, that's a no, but after some back and forth, they agree to send a shipping label. Still, you'd think they might offer *something* for the hassle--after all, repacking a heavy, broken lamp (with its puzzle-like pieces), cleaning up the styrofoam explosion, and waiting for a replacement just to redo this whole ordeal isn't exactly my idea of a good time. But no, apparently because the lamp was already on sale, I should feel grateful to have already paid several hundred dollars for this experience. The rep wrapped things up with, "Let us know next time!" but based on this first impression, I'm not so sure there will be a next time. read more

Salesperson Jennifer was knowledgeable and helpful . We walked in to see some of the lights we picked out on Lamps Plus website. Makes a big different in person to see the actual light. Jennifer gave me lots of helpful information about the chandelier we like: type of bulbs , cable length (we specifically needed 9ft cable which is not easy to find on the modern style we like. If it weren't for all the relevant information Jennifer provided, we would have thought the lamp didn't meet our needs. Hope the chandelier looks as good in our house as it does in the store. I was like a kid lost in a candy factory again this weekend when I visited the Stevens Creek branch of Lamps Plus because I know I will get great quality and amazing value again with my purchase. I have been to this store several times in the past and I loved all the home decors I got. All the selections I purchased looked elegant again as usual but this time I browsed their online catalog first before I came to the store and believe it or not, unlike the past purchases, all these stuff I bought were all from open boxes. Looking at them you wouldn't even think that they were open boxes because they looked new and expensive. I got them all for a very good price and I was a very happy camper. The service was excellent as usual with Christopher remaining poised and professional and immaculate in his polished look as always. The rest of the guys were also there. Maria, Carlos and Benny. All very accommodating and friendly. Chris greeted me as soon as I came in and he said he could recognize me from my bubbly voice from a mile away. Lol. Coming here was like meeting your old friends after a long time. And I havent been here in a bit. They told me last time I was there was 7 months ago. It felt longer. As you can see from the pictures I took, I am one very happy customer since I got all "bougie" and expensive looking pieces like they jumped out from the centerfold of an Architectural Digest catalog. And for the price I got them for. Oh my!! Price was significantly slashed because all of my interesting selections were classified under open boxes. My condo looking so swank, updated and cozy. Zero star if I can. No returns for ceiling fan once installed. How do I know if I like the fan or not before I install it? Manager was arrogant and did not honor the company's return policy. Company's return policy says clearly $50 fee with cut wire. Manager said no return with cut wire. Updated after got contacted with the regional manager, who allowed us to return the fan to the san jose store with a $50 restock fee. 4 star for Lampsplus.com as a whole company. I moved into a new house a couple years ago and while we like the light fixtures, left by the previous homeowners, the bulbs are not your run of the mill standard types. I knew of this store from a friend and knew they sold all kinds of lighting and bulbs. When I went I was greeted by a very nice and helpful salesman. I showed Nathaniel G. the bulbs I had that needed replacing. He was very efficient and helped me find the exact replacements as well as their LED equivalents. Of course I always opt for the LEDs. I was also hesitant buying it in October at the original price because holiday season is coming. However the staff assured me that they would adjust the price if it's on sale within 60 days. (fan expert) greeted me and helped me navigate my way to purchasing 2 ceiling fans for our newly remodeled home. He patiently took time to educate me on the different manufacturers, motor types, and styles while staying within a tight budget. I've also had the pleasure to work with Maria B. who assisted me with purchasing bathroom vanity lights and mirrors. Making decisions can be so tough when considering style, function, and budget for our home. Maria was super patient and kind helping while I debated on the perfect vanity/light combo. Purchased a $299 bathroom lighting fixture from this store. It stopped working after about 18 months. As it was out of warranty, the store suggested that I order a replacement driver which was about $30. Replacing the driver did not fix the problem. I called the store and they suggested that I should bring it in. After verifying that the new driver was not working, the store manager agreed to replace the whole fixture at no cost even though it was out of warranty. They refunded the cost of the driver. Overall, I was happy and satisfied with this resolution. read more

I won't bore you with all of the issues I countered with the person representing Lamps Plus other than this store is and always has been very difficult to deal with. They are "rule" and "policy" driven which is their right. If retaining customers is important to you then this store is probably not the place for you to frequent. As mentioned, the employees are too rigid and by the book - guess you cannot blame them as they are apparently implementing their roles as directed by their management - I'm displeased with them, so as a consumer, I choose not to deal with them any longer. The sad thing is that I could go on for pages (which I won't do to YOU) however I''m sure nothing would change - so why bother. Some of the negative Yelp reviews are addressed by LP as essentially, "sorry to hear that . . . " I'll leave it there. In closing, suspect LP feels no need to "always improve" as most good businesses do because this lamp store is virtually the only one left in town. Probably not for much longer . . . . . read more
