Great lobster roll. Convenient spot for pickup up island. Cool shops and great view from the top of cliffs.

Chickens free roaming on the patio, beautiful view of menemshas famous light house gay head. At sunset everyone leaves their tables including wait staff and takes photos! We'd come back again, especially for a fine dining experience in the vineyard. My dad and I loved our chicken we orders and the gnocchi we shared. The Chicken was broiled so lightly crispy, they call it crispy on the menu but definitely not like fried chicken way healthier. The gnocchi wasn't traditionally made but was really good! It was filled with ricotta cheese so bigger than usual gnocchis and more pillowy than most, which I love lighter gnocchis. My mom thought her dish was sub par, not her favorite on the island but good for what she had. Fair review as she had been eating sea food all week and this was the only time she hadn't eaten sea food on the island. My only cons of this restaurant were the wait staff was super off. I don't comment often on wait staff, for the price you pay here they should train better. They were super slow, never even got water refills we asked for. Slow on all food entrees too it was like a two and a half hour dinner. When we first got there when it wasn't crowded they were attentive when they got crowded they got bad. My second negative comment is that there aren't sides that come with the entrees and our portions were pretty small. You'd leave hungry if you don't order an appetizer.

Good setting but notoriously bad food and weird service. Not on the level of State Road or Chilmark…read moreTavern.

This is a cute causal setting. Upon arrival they informed of 10-20 minute wait if I opted for counter dining. I agreed and was pleasantly surprised with a table that opened up within 10 minutes. We ordered the peach pancake special, chicken and waffles, and the Cowboy Up frittata. Presentation of the food is A+ Yet... My husband took one of bite of his chicken and made a strange face. He said it tasted "off". By the time I received my frittata and pancakes and bit into them, nothing had any flavor. Pancakes taste like they flipped bland flour and eggs, frittata as though not one lick of seasoning hit the batch of eggs. I started surveying the person next me because I was truly surprised. She said she's been going there for 10 years and the food is usually good. She recommended I say something, so I asked our server if I could speak with manager. I explained why to her and she returned stating that they have discounted the food. Soon after the ?chef came over. Rapidly asked what's wrong with the food. As I tried to explain, she kept cutting me off with a rebuttal. She eventually walked away interrupting the conversation. She then walks back, not sure if conviction hit her. She apologized saying sorry if it felt like i wasnt listening. I said that's exactly what it felt it. I said I didn't understand why she would come ask me for feedback if you weren't going to listen. She said she had several orders to take care of, and, yet again, prematurely ended the conversation. I'm not sure what purpose she was trying to serve, but there's nothing like having a terrible dining experience to then top it off with disrespectful staff.

The food was terrific, my husband had oysters and clam chowder and I had lobster cobb salad. Very fresh seafood. Service was friendly and attentive, prices were realistic, and the bathroom was clean. Will definitely go back!

The fried clams were $31 with no sides, and the plate contained only 3-4 actual clams. The rest was just pieces of fried batter. I've attached a photo because I couldn't believe this was considered a full order. I asked the employee at the counter if this was the normal portion size. She shrugged and said she didn't know, so I asked if there was a manager I could speak with. The manager came out, offered a refund, took the plate back, and then slammed the door behind her. I later asked another employee whether I would actually be getting the refund, and she also shrugged and said she didn't know, adding that the manager would come find me. She never did. I ended up ordering a chicken wrap instead, which was fine, but the overall experience was disappointing. I understand Martha's Vineyard is expensive, but charging $31 for what amounted to a few fried clams and a pile of batter is ridiculous.

A surprisingly disappointing experience at an upscale restaurant:…read moreI almost never leave negative reviews, especially for upscale restaurants, but my experience tonight was so far below expectations that I feel I need to share it. The Hen of the Woods appetizer was dry, brittle, and nearly flavorless -- more like straw than a thoughtfully prepared dish. Without the green peppercorns and Dijon mustard I happened to have with me, it would have been inedible. The Duck Confit was similarly disappointing: overcooked, dry, and again nearly impossible to enjoy without the condiments I brought. Service issues added to the frustration. The red Burgundy wine I ordered didn't arrive until nearly dessert, even after I asked another server to remind my server to bring it. Dessert came with only half a cup of decaf coffee and no cream, despite my request. Overall, I felt ignored rather than cared for. What should have been a highlight of my vacation became one of its lowest points. I truly hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because the experience did not match the level of quality or hospitality one should expect at this price point.
