The food is always fresh with large portions. The customer service is efficient and accurate. Don't confuse the lack of a loud cheerful greetings with an unfriendly staff. The staff is usually busy and working hard. If you engage them in conversation they will reply with smiles and laughter. The owner John is usually there working in the back. Incredible lobster roll, but the customer service was abysmal. I met up with a group of girlfriends for lunch during a girl's weekend in MV - we were chatting and catching up while we waited to be helped. Instead of greeting us, the owner told us to quiet down and that we were "distracting" her as she made sandwiches. Mind you, no one had greeted us or taken our order at this point. I assume the owner was mad because one of us cracked a joke about Trump (amongst our small group), which clearly rubbed her the wrong way. Her reaction was jarring. First trip to Martha's Vineyard and first meal taking in fish and chips. What a delicious meal, took it back to our hotel and ate out on our balcony. Fish was lightly battered and wonderful. Most amazing fish sandwich I've ever had. I'm from the big island of Hawai'i and have grown up eating fresh fish mostly caught myself or by my family. I've never had a fish sandwich like the Grilled swordfish sandwich. They have a sauce they call Citrus and it's absolute heaven! The fish and chips won 2nd best, 1st being ono from a local place on the Big Island. I will say the fish and chips/fries could not have been cooked better. The ice cream is also amazingly creamy and thick. The prices are not bad for a fresh meal. So glad we found this local Gem. We will be back! read more

I don't think I'm going to make this review very long. I don't have to, in fact. All I'm going to say is Sandy has the BEST lobster roll my mouth has ever tasted. This lobster roll is thicc as the youngins say. I really wish I lived on Martha's Vineyard, but then again I'd be in trouble because I'd eat at Sandy's everyday. Ordered the clam cakes/balls. They were pretty darn good. I will say that two of the four were under cooked and I tossed them, but the rest were great. My wife ordered the fish and chips. Tour guide mentioned that this place had the best fish and ships on the island. Located away from the hustle and bustle of tourist heavy areas, he suggested this was where the locals ate. Service was quick, friendly. Ordered over $200 worth of food for a group of 10. It wasn't the best fish and chips we had on the island but it was certainly tasty. So far, Sandy has the best Fish and Chips we've had on the island yet. Their fish and chips is a bit different than most in that it was smaller pieces of fish instead of single fillets. That made no difference when it comes to taste and crunch. The portion was so big, we'll plan on splitting an order the next time we go. Since eating at Sandy's, I've been ordering F&C elsewhere and no one else's compares. Their fish is fresh, hot, and crispy. While their fries are not exceptional, they are good and we ate them all. Sandy's is an order-at-the-counter style restaurant with eating outside on picnic tables - some of which are nicely located under the trees at the far side of the parking lot. Typically a busy place since they also have a fresh seafood market. Sally's also has soft serve ice cream which brings all sorts of folks out to cool off in the warm island summers. read more

My mom and I went here for dinner one night on the Vineyard before heading to Lambert's Cove for the sunset. We both ordered the grilled swordfish sandwiches and they were good. I thought the fish tasted fresh but the sauce on the sandwich or grease while the sandwich was cooking made the whole thing very soggy within 10 minutes. I personally prefer the simple fish sandwiches in Menemsha, but for the sake of convenience, this was a good option which is why I am giving it 4 stars. I ordered take out from this place today and let me tell you!!!! IT WAS DELICIOUS!! Swordfish sandwich with everything L/T/O plus the wasabi Mayo! I also ordered a side of whole belly clams. My mom and I got the seafood platter and we split it between the two of us. A very generous portion of staple seafood (cod, shrimp, scallops, calimari, etc) and fries. Everything was hot and obviously fresh catch. The price was reasonable considering the tourist location, and is obviously geared more towards locals. The food was just as good if not better than anything you'd get in downtown Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs. Will definitely return. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Vineyard Haven!! I had the swordfish sandwich which was hands down one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, fresh and melted in my mouth. Also had the clam chowder which was amazing. I'd highly recommend making a stop here if you're craving fresh seafood. Only a 10-15min walk from the center of town where the ferry drops you off. Amazing!!! My wife and I stopped by here today for dinner and we were not disappointed. I got the fish and chips and clam chowder, and she had the grilled swordfish sandwich....and we both loved what we had. The fish was lightly breaded and super tasty, and the clam chowder was some of the best I have ever had in all of New England. My wife was pleased to learn that they had gluten free buns for her sandwich, and she said it was excellent. We sat outside at a picnic table and really enjoyed the whole experience. Everything here is so good! The fish and chips are awesome but so is everything else. I've had the swordfish burger, egg rolls and just today had the special of crispy bass with spinach and rice. This is the best of the Vineyard. Fresh cooked to order foods, no Premade lobster roll here fresh tasty and huge. . Brioche rolls are to die for. Fish and chips, fried clams, shrimp plates are amazing Any type of seafood cooked to order, fried grilled or nice specialty meal from Chef Oh is always awesome. Oh, and the sides are amazing, best potato salad, Cole slaw and Asian noodles are our favorite. Delectable clam, lingucia clam cakes are to die for. And of-course chowder, creamy and delicious.
