I signed up for the yearly maintenance program that included a furnace in the fall and a/c unit in the spring. I had to call every year for an appointment for the service. The tech was polite and knowledgeable and had been here before so I requested him for all my service needs. He slipped up this time on the a/c unit and did not put the braker back in the braker box by the unit which causes the a/c unit to kick in once the thermostat hits the degree set but the fan motor on the furnace does start working. I was doing yard work early in the morning while he was doing his checking for spring maintenance on the a/c unit. He told me when he completed the check up and I wrote out a check for next year's maintenance because it is Cliffs policy to pay in advance. After hours of yard maintenance I went inside and heard the furnace fan running but the interior of the house was hotter than it was outside. The reading of the thermostat was 82 degrees but was set at 76 degrees. I thought it was working fine before the maintenance he must have done something wrong. I would have waited till in the morning and called Cliff's but the motor in the furnace must have been running for hours trying to cool the house and at 11:30 it so hot I could not tolerate the heat any longer. I went out to the a/c unit to see if it was running and it was not so I looked with a flash light and found that the tech did not put the breaker back in to the breaker box. I went inside and shut everything down and put the breaker into the breaker box and started everything back up. Everything worked properly but it took several hours for the house to cool down. I could not sleep because of being upset along with the heat. I called Cilffs the next morning and wanted to speak to the owner but was denied and would have to wait for the person I was talking to to relay the above to the owner. So that made me more upset so I had to pay 35 dollars at my bank to stop the check I wrote out for next 2 seasons of maintenance. I called Cliffs to let them know I stopped the check and they wanted to know why I did that. They were going to tell the owner of the situation but I don't buy that. Some details always get overlooked when the person in the middle is involved. Probably have to buy a new furnace sooner than later because of the fan motor running for so long. It had to be screaming HOT. Service date was 06/03/2024. read more

Cliff's installed our GENERAC generator 13 months ago. The unit has performed flawlessly. The gas piping developed a very small leak at one of the fixtures wich was detected by a NIPSCO routine inspection. I contacted Cliff's and the next day they had personnel on site repairing the problem at their expense. Their response time was extraordinary and the repair was done flawlessly. I called Cliff's to do a check on my heat exchanger because they are a York dealer. I want to be ready for winter. My furnace is and was working fine, but every so often on a high efficiency furnace you have to check the exchanger because of left over moisture, etc. I have years of experience in the building trades and even installing furnaces. I went there because they are a York dealer. With that said, they sent a tech over to check the exchanger. The first think he said to me was that my furnace does not work. Wrong. I asked him if he checked the exchanger and he stated that he could not check the heat exchanger without making sure the vent fan was working. He said the vent fan was not working. I'll explain later but Wrong! I explained to him that he was here to check the exchanger, not the fan. He continued to explained he could not check burners or exchanger without replacing the fan. Wrong! I asked him again to just check the burners and exchanger and he stated that he would not until he replaced the fan that was working. He said that my furnace does not run. I asked him to leave because he kept saying that my furnace does not run when it does! After he left, I turned on the furnace and fan and confirmed again that the furnace and fan (that he wanted to replace) properly worked. Works fine... with heat. I called Cliffs to explain that the tech came over and tried to rip me off and claimed that things did not work when they clearly did. And that he was here to check the burners and heat exchanger, not the vent. The lady on the phone kept telling me that my furnace does not work, when it does! I asked her to send over a qualified tech to check what was asked and she kept telling me that she could not until the fan was replaced. THE FAN WORKS! PLEASE BEWARE! THEY TRIED TO GET ME TO REPLACE VERY EXPENSIVE PARTS OF MY FURNACE THAT WORKS FINE. read more

We have used Cliffs Heating and Air for the last 16 years! They have been nothing but honest, prompt and have shown us great customer service. Our heat went out last week and they were able to come out right away to fix it. Shout out to Hunter the nice tech who was friendly and courteous. Had Cliff's come out last October (2015) to replace a 48 year old furnace and AC in the property we rent out. Of the two other places I received quotes from (Meyer's and Jack's) I went with Cliff's. The whole process went smooth. They installed a good quality, American made York forced air furnace and AC warranted for ten years parts and labor. Installation took about a day. Good install and ductwork (sheet metal) looks great transitioning into the old. Had one small issue about a week later, the wire harness was not completely plugged into the main board on the furnace properly (it needs to click in) the blower motor vibration probably caused it to wiggle out. I found that myself and snapped it back in all was good to go. Before I fixed that, I called them to come out. It was a Sunday I left a message and they called me right back and were going to send someone out right away. I am planning on using them to replace the system in my own home later this year. read more

June 2016 York HVAC system installed. I used Cliffs (Schererville on Kennedy Ave) back in 2013 for rental property and now again for my home HVAC. York units have been very dependable and made in the USA. Ron, Joe, and Cliff are great guys and pros at what they do. Almost 100 years of experience just between those three guys. Highly recommended. They take care of all the warranty registrations (10 years parts and labor on everything), and provide NIPSCO rebate forms, Manufacturer Rebate, and Tax Credit forms. My only suggestion is that the office do a courtesy call the day before to confirm appointments. You will be happy if you use them. read more

Cliffs came highly recommended by a family member but you must have to be retired or work from home to get good customer service from this place. They definitely are not accommodating to the working household. They do not schedule appointments on Saturdays or after 3:00 pm weekdays and will not bend their schedule by even 1/2 hour. Wish I could give no stars. This company is as unprofessional as they come. My furnace has been having issues every year since the first year they put it in and every time we call they give excuses. This year I called again and the office manger Lea Hurley was so rude and not helpful. After some back and forth they sent someone over named Chris. We were trying to ask questions to which he proceeded to yell and cuss at us about how he wasn't here for any of that and just wanted to leave. Overall, this experience was horrible. Cliff's installed a new York furnace, and air conditioning unit for me. The craftsman did a good job. One year later while under warranty a part on top of the furnace failed. It took two days for Cliff's to get here. They said the part had failed under warranty, they would have to order it but I was under warranty. 3 days later the part came in. They installed it everything was working fine and the craftsman told me I owed them $350. When I said "Hold on I'm under warranty." "He said that was just for the part not the labor." I told him to call the office on speakerphone the boss was very rude. and said labor was not included under the warranty. That is a lie! Warranty work always cover a fee from the manufacturer for labor. Cliff's are a bunch of rude con men, and I would never use them again, and have told everyone I know! read more

I had Cliff's install a Generac 16kw generator and couldn't be happier. I elected to use the financing package they offer that allows me to pay back the cost if installation at 0% APR for 18mos. I dealt with Joe every step of the way and he couldn't have been more professional and friendly, from the estimate process to repairing appliances that took a shock, everything worked out. Due to an unforeseen technical problem, the new unit sent a surge through my house that roasted a few items that were plugged in or connected to power. Cliff's response was immediate, and everything I replaced that was fried got reimbursed right away. Living in the region, I suffered many sleepless nights before from power loss, summer and winter, but now I sleep easy and watch TV when my neighbors' houses are dark. Buying a house generator is one if the best things I have ever done and I encourage anyone thinking about it to call Cliff's. read more

We called Cliff's so after getting many quotes and they were the most reasonable, we needed furnace, a/c, and new vents and they were very professional and all the guys busted their butt. They kept their mess to a minimum and they cleaned what they could possibly clean. Cliff's installed our heating and air conditioning, and we never failed to call them to inspect the systems to keep up with our warranty. Our warranty ended, but we kept calling Cliff's for yearly maintenance, especially since a small "pin" on the furnace causes the entire system to shut down when it collects dirt. This year, Cliff's wouldn't make a service appointment near Christmas as they were closed. (This was not for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.) Since that Christmas week was the only time my husband was off work, he called a competitor instead. After having watched Cliff's techs over the years, he was shocked to watch as this tech from the competition took apart sections of the furnace that Cliff's never even touched in the 10 years of warranty maintenance. He inspected and cleaned everything in amazing detail. Now we wonder if that pin got clogged simply because Cliff's techs never bothered to do a thorough cleaning. We'll wait and see what happens next year! We will not be calling Cliff's again. read more

I guarantee that no matter how minor your furnace problems are, this place will try charge you with a very large job and bill. My wife had forgotten our past problems with them and called them this summer when the furnace had water pouring out of it. They claimed that they cleaned the hoses yet it continued to have the problem so they said that the solution was to replace all of the ductwork in our 30-year old house because it was too small. I had never been small in the past but now, that was the problem. We called another HVAC company who cleaned the hoses and problem solved. Previously we had a different problem and again the solution was replace all of the ductwork. There are other options out there; don't waste your money. read more

Dont do it! What a terrible experience! I guess you get what you paid for. Shame on me. They beat the other quotes and now I see why. Shame on them. After way too many hours with people that I think were hired off the street with little or no training, I still did not have functioning equipment by the time they were done. On to day two and I wish they had sent somebody else out, I got the same inexperienced lost workers as we did the first day. Slobbish, foul language, horseplay, cigarette butts thrown on my property, distateful music in my basement and my yard, numerous breaks just sitting on my property on cell phones. God forbid you have to call and explain the situation to the secretary. CLUELESS. Clearly just a phone answerer. I would prefer to never have a conversation with either of the owners ever again. I definitely know that nobody I know will ever have to deal with them, because I would never refer to this company. If you're going to own a business you should be an expert in the trade. Fast forward to the call back that I had to make to hopefully get all the problems and glitches fixed, and to actually have functioning systems like I paid them to do...FINALLY a new employee, well, new to my home. Within 20 minutes he was able to point out what had been done wrong and what would need to be done to fix it. Its magic! Someone that knows what they are doing. Ron was in and out in no time with all the problems fixed and was the first professional person we had spoken to from that company. Between the two workers the two owners and the secretary, what an awful experience.. time consuming, schedule interrupting and unprofessional. Thank you Ron for your professionalism and expertise, and the fact that you actually cared about our situation and experience. Kudos to you young man. As for this future service, etc... unless I am guaranteed to get the same young man, we will go elsewhere, no matter the price. I would NEVER use these guys for any HVAC work. They came to my house for a "check up" on the coldest day of the year, and told my wife that they have to turn off the gas because the heat exchanger has a hole in it. I ended up getting a new furnace, (not from them) and found that my heat exchanger did NOT have a hole in it like the tech told me. What a rip off place! read more
