I absolutely love the ambience here. Not only is the area lovely, but also the cafe is decorated so beautifully. It's my go to place when us girls want to spend some time together. Food and coffee was okay First time visiting there was not bad but second time we had bad service. First of all when we asked what kind of bagels or muffin they have he said I don't know. As others said same thing it was taking more than 30mints to get simple breakfast. We were okay to wait because they already explained to us but we did not get even water and coffee for long and server gave us only muffin without any plate and drinks. looks like just grabbed the muffin with plastic wrapped and gave it to us. my husband asked extra egg when he ordered but server said already comes with 2 eggs so we said then it's okay. Eventually food came super late Actually it usually comes with only one egg. so we had to add the order extra egg again. And server forgot to place the order so we never got it. We already finished to eat and tired to ask so many things so just gave up. I don't think it's worth to wait for 30mints for seated and extra 30 mints for the food and bad service. read more

Wow.... I saw the great reviews here and thought I should try it. The service was amazing. The girl who served us was very sweet, kind, and helped us decide what we wanted. I got the "road kill" crepe with roast beef, cheddar, and tomato and it was very filling and delicious! For a drink I got the creme brûlée latte which was very good as well. My last time eating at Clifton Cafe was on a crowded Saturday at around noon with the same friend I always go with. We got our usual Evan's Exotic and blueberry-rhubarb crepes, but this time we were disappointed and not in love like we usually are. Maybe we've just eaten here too many times, but the cafe has lost its charm for us and we don't plan on going back anytime soon. We realized that the ingredients in the crepes didn't seem very high-quality, especially the chicken, which was somewhat rubbery. The crepes just didn't taste as good as they did before to us, and as another reviewer said, it's pretty basic. If you really want crepes and Clifton Cafe is convenient for you, maybe give it a try. But be warned that it's nothing phenomenal and you can probably find a better place to spend your money. read more

If you just wanna eat good food without any service this place is for you. I went there for my birthday brunch with my friend, she got there first and they told her it would take 10 minutes to be seated, 45 minutes later we were finally seated and it took another 15 minutes for anyone to take our drink order. We were seated outside in the sun and no one bothered to bring us any water. We had 2 small kids with us because the website said it was kid friendly but when I asked for a high chair they said they only have 1 and it was being used. What kind of place only has 1 high chair?! The food was actually pretty good we shared the spicy chicken avocado crepe which was delicious and the Nutella berry crepe which was really good. The problem is that the service was really slow and the hostesses were super rude, like we were bothering them. I can honestly say that I would not return and it is a shame because the creeps were good! read more

Heard rave reviews for this place and frankly it didn't live up to the hype. The ambiance is nice (but a little dark). The service was strange and not great. I ordered "Silvia's savory crepe" which had "roasted chicken" cheddar cheese guacamole and mango salsa. The chicken was all dark meat and didn't taste great (not fresh) and this was a huge disappointment. There was so little meat also. The cheese tasted cheap and that was the heaviest ingredient. For $14+ I expected a lot more. It was just kind of a hot mess. We also ordered the hummus and "lavash" crackers, which tasted like something you got at Costco. Nothing homemade or special about this at all. The only things I enjoyed were the side salad and my husband had a Cuban sandwich which was decently good. We won't be returning. read more

Wonderful little find! Warm, contemporary cafe interior with friendly service. They have an all day brunch menu. Today we had a couple of breakfast crepes that were wonderful, I had the hungry Canadian, not sure what my husband ordered as I was too busy enjoying every bite! My little boy had a pb and j that came shaped as a heart. This is the second time I have eaten at Clifton Café and still there are no bad things to say about it. I can only speak to their crepes but both times I have gone (Evan's Exotic Equation and Matt's Meatless Mistake) have been very good! I have been looking for a restaurant that specializes in crepes for 2 years and I have officially stopped looking. A word to the wise though, the seating inside is limited and can get noisy because of the sheer volume of people. They do have outdoor seating though, which I can't wait for. If you're looking for that perfect hole in the wall that has great food and is a little off the beaten path, look no further. read more

For starters this place is very noisy. It is small and seems to attract loud talkers. They have a nice patio but it is getting too cold for the patio. I ordered the crepe Suzette but a crepe Suzette is made with oranges not lemons. Their crepe Suzette was a feeble imitation. Then as I was not full I ordered the roasted red pepper roast beef sandwich which was very good. Very good waitress though a little slow. She made up for her slowness in her personality. The restaurant is sort of in back of a store, up about 6 stairs. Very close to the train tracks. In fact a train went by blowing the whistle and I had to look up to see if it was coming through the cafe. This was one of the most quaint cafe's that I have been to. As holidays are approaching, they have decorated it very well with welcoming Christmas lights. It was a warm feeling once we entered the cafe in the cold evening to a nice cup of tea! I had a orange ginger mint tea and me and the chocoberry crêpe. The crêpes were the most scrumptious I have tasted so far. The service is in time and our server was very helpful. All in all a wonderful experience on a cold evening. We had the ham and cheese crepe and the goat cheese, chicken and artichoke crepe -- both were outstanding and flavorful. We LOVE this cute little cafe with a HUGE menu. They were super busy this afternoon but managed to seat us quickly. I chose a sweet crepe while my husband chose a savory crepe. Both were delicious! I got the strawberry cheesecake crepe with a side of Nutella and my husband got the chipotle pork crepe. We each had lattes las well, hazelnut turtle and walk in Bermuda, very delicious. Fantastic crepes, cooked to perfection. Slightly chewy and the batter itself is very tasty and full of flavor. I had 'Donna's Decadence' and was extremely pleased. The boyfriend got a mango smoothie (tasty with no ice chunks blocking the straw) and a nutella and berry crepe which was very good, as well. We were the only two in there on a Monday night, the young people working the place were extremely nice and thorough when it came to preparing and presenting our food. I love this cafe. Even if the servers don't know you, they treat you like a friend. They are courteous and, in every way that matters to a customer, they are accommodating. In addition to the chairs and tables outside, the cafe itself will seat many people. I've never had to wait, even when the cafe is crowded. I was looking forward to going to Clifton Cafe based on all the great reviews but I have to be honest - it was a very disappointing experience. Location-wise it's ideal, right off the main drag in downtown Clifton where you can sit outside and bring your dog. The service is what spoiled the trip. Our party of four were seated outside and we waited 10 minutes (meanwhile two servers and the hostess passed by) before we gave up and went back up to the line to request a set of menus. All our coffee orders took nearly 20 minutes to arrive and we waited for our food for over an hour. On top of that, we were informed that one of the crepes had something added that wasn't supposed to be so they needed to re-make it. That was another 15 minutes. As a side note: out of the crepes that came out first, one arrived cold and another was missing an ingredient. You may think we should have sent those orders back but frankly, we didn't have anymore time to waste. Despite the long wait, the lattes and cappuccino drinks were very good and I would come back just to order those again but the crepes were nothing noteworthy. Great little cafe. I go with friends to enjoy the eclectic atmosphere. The food has always been good. This little hidden gem is tucked away from the typical DC metro atmosphere, and I do appreciate the quiet, small-town feel of the area and a chance to "get away" for a few hours. For an extended afternoon of fun, we go across the street afterwards for wine tasting. Minor drawbacks: Parking can be a little rough, and outdoor seating is awkwardly placed very near the driveway. The kitchen is visible from the cash register, and it looks like it could use a deep cleaning, but nothing glaringly wrong. Crepes are large and served on large plates (wish the plates were smaller!) so we literally couldn't fit our 2 sandwiches + 1 crepe to share on the table for two people. read more

My girlfriend and I had a wondeful late lunch here along with our dog. The staff was extremly friendly and helpful! They even filled his water bowl for us! The food was astounding! We both struggled to pick from the massive menu with each dish sounding tasty. I settled for the Chesapeak Crab BLT Crape. The crab was well seasoned and tasted great. What amazed me is how much the sauce and vegies added to the flavor without over powering the crab. Speaking of the vegies both of us noted how fresh they were. The tasted as if the picked the tomatos right off the vine. I believe they source local produce so they just might have! This place really earned their 5 stars. I brought my mom here for high tea a few weeks ago. Everything was fabulous, however they didn't serve the typical tea sandwiches. They served a turkey sandwich, roast beef sandwich and date with goat cheese sandwich. My fave was the date with goat cheese. The others were good too, the breads were awesome! Taste was ok, nothing spectacular but does look good in pictures. Also ordered hazelnut turtle mocha - nothing impressive either; didn't taste the hazelnut at all. We read about this place in NOVA magazine and love crepes so me and the bf hopped in the car and off we went. Boy am I glad we did!The food is fantastic! I always get the Evan's Exotic, (chicken, feta, spinach, tomatoes and a yummy pesto sauce) and the boyfriend usually gets the Ally's stuffed french toast. I don't know how they do it but it really tastes like french toast! We have tried spicy chicken,Silvia's with mango salsa, Hanna's Denver and some nutella and berry versions as well and have begun rotating a third crepe so that we get our favorites but try something new! Three may seem a bit excessive but I'm telling you they are that good......ALL of them. If God himself eats crepes he comes here for them! Aside from the delicious food the place is adorable. Been here several times. Great food, nice coffees, love the menu and atmosphere. Our disappointment is with the indifference of the head staff. One a few occasions, our appearance for a table has been met with rolling eyes, indifference, avoidance, and comments that they are closing soon! Most recently, were told another story basically acknowledging that they did not want us to stay for a meal. This confuses us as the entire Clifton village is so warm and welcoming. This last time, though we love the food at the Cafe, we dislike the avoidance attitude, and went to the Main Street Pub for friendliness and warmth. read more

I am a regular diner at this establishment, with that being said. It's not a perfect experience every time. I usually get the crepe with Nutella, berries, and nanners. Usually on point! I've been getting the stuff on their specials menu and their savory vegetarian crepe with Mediterranean things was delicious! The lattes however always seem to lack a couple pumps of flavor and their latte art has been getting worse. I always find myself waiting an extended amount of time getting paid out too. I'll come again because I love the ambiance and variety of options but wish I had prettier lattes to photograph like when I use to come a couple years ago lol. read more

Yes please! We went here last Sunday for brunch. Delicious! Any place with a mimosa bucket has to get your vote. We had a party of 7, and all of us but one had crepes. We all loved them. My husband and mom had some jalapeno creation with ham. If my husband said, "Why haven't I been here before?" once, he said it 10 times! I had a crepe with with chicken, spinach, and goat cheese (Melissa's goat and dates). I don't know if I could order anything else when we come back (and we will be back!), it was that good. My father had a breakfast style crepe with ham and enjoyed it. My son had a chicken crepe with beans, avocado, etc and said it was delicious. We all split 2 dessert crepes, one fruity with blueberries and rhubarb, and one with chocolate and grand marnier. I think I liked the fruity the best, it was perfect. My only critique would be the fancy lattes, etc come in fairly small mugs for the price. And while they are pretty good, they are not fabulous. I had just a plain latte, it was OK. The girls had a caramel latte, very small cup and some other fancy latte that was OK. My son had straight espresso, he said it was OK. I think next time I would just order regular coffee. Several of us had that, and it was good. The bloody Mary bar was a hit too. Nice place, we will be back. Service was friendly and prompt. Be warned though, it is VERY small. Was looking for a good coffee place around Manassas, Clifton Cafe came up so I ventured over. Very cute place with good decor and great music :) I ordered the aging Ying Yang mocha (im assuming it's a dark chocolate n white mocha), it was very good. Though they didn't need to put the extra chocolate drizzle on top, made it a tad too sweet. I ordered the stuffed French toast crepe-- fantastic! It has their homemade sweet cheese mixture with strawberries and cinnamon and whipped cream. I hate every bite. The service from the gaggle of teenagers could have been a little more friendly, but on the whole they did a good job. read more

Disclaimer: While I've checked in once, I've been to this establishment about 5 times. The food is always fresh here. The only menu item I don't like is the crab blt crepe. However, when it comes to seafood I'm extra particular. On my last visit my gf had Dan's Barbarian Beef and I had the Bitterton (goat cheese, spinach, chicken). We shared a strawberry-rhubarb and lemon sweet crepe. All of it was great. If I had to make a complaint it would be for more aioli atop the Bitterton. We also had beverages. I ordered an Italian Macchiato, while my Love ordered a chai tea latte. I'll be honest, the quality of coffee is above average at best. Still, they make the most of their ingredients, which makes for a great cup of coffee. Now for the juicy stuff. We went to the cafe on a Thursday morning. They had 6 people seated: a party of 2 and a party of 4. The seating area consists of 4 columns of tables, and all of the tables are quadrilateral. Asa customer, your line of sight will be either horizontal or vertical. The leftmost column is where the pair sat, and their line of sight is horizontal. This detail will make sense later. That portion of the entire seating area is the most desirable. If I remember correctly, there are 4 tables for 2 on that side. The chairs of these tables are upholstered, and the dim lighting of that area made for an appealing scene. Basically, I wanted to sit there. Instead, we were seated in an awkward seat. The column of tables adjacent to the one I just mentioned consists of a table designed for 4 and a table for 2. The former is where the party of 4 sat, and their line of sight was vertical, while the chairs of the 2-person table made for horizontal line of sight. This was done for space purposes. The table itself is against a wall that holds the bathroom. My gf and I were seated here. This table had wooden seats. My date was very close to the bathroom, and my seat had me pressed against a wall on my right, and under the gaze of 2 elder women on my left. I asked to move and things got awkward. I specifically asked the hostess if we could be seated in the first area, and she said no. The reason she provided was that a large party (10) had to be setup for. I persisted and we were seated in the rightmost column. I'm getting bored so I'm going to cut to the chase: an ape would've been able to ascertain how the staff would prepare for the party of 10. The only column I haven't written about contained 2 4-person tables. Clearly they were going to conjoin them, which would leave the area I wanted to sit in 75% unoccupied. I didn't point this out to the hostess as she sat us down in the rightmost column, which contained a solitary table for 2 (if anyone is curious). Things continued to decline after this. I need to insert this detail: there were around 6 staff members behind the bar. 6 staff members to 8 customers equates to great customer service in my mind. Still, my girlfriend and I sat down for about 7 minutes without any acknowledgment from an employee. Keep in mind that I had called the hostess over to move our seat. We were fresh in at least one person's memory. However, I had to approach the bar and politely announce that we were ready to order. The party of 10 arrived while we were in the midst of eating our meal. They say exactly where I thought they would. To the owner: Uniform tables and chairs will work wonders for your establishment, as will customer service training for the employees. The menu is great. read more

Clifton Cafe is one of my all-time favorite local restaurants. The food is always wonderful and the staff is friendly and attentive. A few weeks ago, I took my girlfriend to their High Tea and it was amazing. I've been to their High Tea once before and loved it and this second time was even better. First, there's a wonderful selection of loose teas to choose from (both black teas and herbal teas) and since you choose your own you can try them all! The scones were huge and wonderful as were the sandwiches. We had chicken salad, lobster salad, and ham and cheese sandwiches on all different kinds of bread. Then there were the desserts which were amazing--from pastries to chocolates. I've been to a lot of High Teas in the area but for the price this is one of my favorites! read more

Prices are reasonably high so... so me its just a decent place to meat up at and have a coffee or something light I like to tip well so getting a full mean is overly expensive. I have try their Randy's Righteousness, Evans's exotic equation, Dan's barbarian beef on the lunch crepe menu and Ana's nutty banana berry on the dessert crepe. My favorite are Randy and Evans crepe one, very flavorful. The crepe is soft and moist, vegetable season beautifully. The dessert crepe is supper yummy of course. The portion match the price which is range from $7 to $14-$15. On their coffee, the hazelnut turtle mocha and white chocolate raspberry are the best for me since they are little sweeter than most. read more
