Oh I'm sorry. I wanted to love this place so badly. Super cute location, cute house, homey feel!!! Gluten free paradise, so many options and so many things you can't typically find anywhere else... fried chicken, yes! Unfortunately everything was bland, like so bland... even with the much needed salt and pepper it still just wasn't very good. Augratin potatoes broke my heart, chopped potatoes drizzled in bland sauce and sprinkled with cheese. Couldn't even finish them. This is a place for the older crowds... But I still hope they do well! Cause it is super cute and I appreciate all the options!

Since my husband's birthday was also around restaurant week we decided to choose the Hamrock restaurant to celebrate. I am so happy with the choice. They were so warm and welcoming in this beautiful colonial house turned into a restaurant. Our server was incredible very professional and the hostess gave us personalized menus that said "happy birthday" at the very top. My husband thought it was the birthday of the restaurant so he went around looking for another menu to see if it really was personalized. The food was in incredible. From what I understand risotto is not easy to make. The chef who created this risotto is incredibly talented because it was creamy flavorful and delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meal so much that they took part of it home so that they can enjoy it again today I don't have that kind of control. Neither did my husband. The dessert was delicious too. Lemon cello cake light fluffy not too sweet. Thank you once again for an incredible experience. Whoever the owner is of this restaurant should be very proud of their staff

Food was fantastic and the staff was great!. We had the pork schnitzel with fingerling potatoes, the sea scallops with potatoes and broccoli and the shrimp stuffed with crab. All of them were fantastic for dessert. We had the lemon Jell-O cake and the vanilla bread pudding with blackberry, chocolate chip ice cream!

Came here on both Sunday and Saturday and had such varies experience. When I was here on Saturday for the first time might I add, I had the best time for brunch! We were quickly served & checked on & food came out fairly quick. I enjoyed the complimentary bread that was provided & the corn bread mini muffins were my favorite. I ordered the open taco omelet and very much enjoyed it. 10/10! I thought the taco shell bowl to hold the guac was such a cute idea & the sauces on top added so much flavor to the dish! Now... when I came back on Sunday for brunch (24 hours later) this experience completely changed. My friend & I were seated but after 30 mins went by we were never waited on. I had to ask the hostess where our waitress or waiter was and she had to go check. Someone did come out shortly after and said that she was not our original waitress and did not know where they are but she could help with the ordering (yay!). I decided to try the brunch bowl this time and the food was missing the sausage that came with the meal. By this time I was starving by the time the food came so I decided not to say anything. The brunch bowl was very plain & lack flavor. This was not my favorite and I barely ate it. The 2 broccoli was such a random addition to the meal & was not stated on the menu lol Overall this place is a hit or miss depending on the day you come & the food you get in my opinion. Going from such a great experience to 24 hours later such a bad experience was not what I was expecting at all.

Decided to have dinner at Hamrock's during Restaurant Week in Fairfax. Their lobster bisque was outstanding! The crab cakes were on the crispy side, but tasted great, the remoulade sauce paired excellently with them. Their lemoncello cake was the perfect ending to a great dinner. Looking forward to my next visit.

The ambience and facility is cozy...it was cold night and wish the fireplace was working. Had some adult beverage to start and some brussel sprouts as Appetizer. Very nice. No Old Fashion, hard liquor? Our server was kind and punctual, however she did not have answers to our questions regarding menu. And she did not try and find the answers. I dont know is not acceptable to me. The food was delish. My wife had the Baked Shrimp, which was 4 nice size crab cakes with a shrimp inside. Sounded weird, but was amazeballs! I had the Shrimp Provencal, wow the shrimp and lemony sauce was simply amazing sitting on top of risotto. Nice work chef! If the server would have answered several of our menu questions and specific dish questions, would've been 4 **** review. Maybe a bad day for the server? Our first time here. We will be back.

I have a thing for house-restaurants. Something about it gives me an extra cozy feel. Friendly staff but service was progressively slower as more customers showed up. The bread basket is a must try. I didn't think the caprese salad shrimp with risotto were extraordinary but my husband enjoyed his shrimp crab cakes. We had the three-course menu for $40 each.

Good food selection choices (with some vegetarian options). Very friendly/ attentive service. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Peaceful ambiance.

They have tons of pizza options, but we opted for their hot oven specialties, specifically their Meat Calzone (pepperoni, sausage, and cheese) and their Rustica (ham, salami, sausage, cheese, eggs, spinach, and broccoli). Note that they do charge a 3% credit card fee, so I would recommend either paying cash or a credit card that has 5% for dining. This is in a shopping center of a much larger shopping area, so there was plenty of parking. We opted to dine in and there was plenty of seating as well - booth and tables. You get a number and can grab drinks, condiments, seasonings, and utensils. The bathroom was decent and everything overall was clean. Once they dropped off our food, my partner and I dug in. Both came with marinara dipping sauce, although I felt like the Rustica could have been better paired with a white sauce. Regardless both tasted good and were filling. I was surprised by the Rustica as it seemed like the love child of a calzone and a pizza - pizza shape with calzone crust. With the ingredients, it reminded me more of a quiche. I liked how much more balanced it was - nice mix of protein and vegetables.and wouldn't mind coming back to try more of their menu.

Our son brought us to one of his favorite restaurants, and now we completely understand why. We had a wonderful table on the patio, which made for a perfect evening. We started with the Shrimp Bad Bing and the baked meatballs, and both were absolutely delicious. For our entrée, my wife and I shared the Short Rib Ragu, and it was outstanding. We'd order it again in a heartbeat. Our grandkids loved their spaghetti and meatballs, which made everyone at the table happy. The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. As we looked around and saw other dishes being served, we realized there are so many more menu items we want to try. We're already looking forward to coming back--and we'll probably be there next Friday for happy hour! If you've never been, don't wait 20 years like we did. Highly recommended!

From the staff who took our reservation, she was so polite, and concerned if we had any issues that they should be aware of; which we did, we had two with mobility issues, so she made sure we were seated on the first level. We sat on the patio which was a great idea, beautiful outdoor dining area. Our waitress was great, she had full knowledge of the menu and made great recommendations, from appetizers to entrees. We started our experience with orders of the arancini filled with bolognese with peas and mozzarella , Zeppoles with prosciutto and hot honey drizzle, fried artichokes with a garlic aioli, and the house meatballs topped with mozzarella and baked. They were awesome! Deliciousness in every bite! On to our entrees, I ordered the spicy seafood pasta, mussels, shrimp and scallops over homemade tagliatelle with a spicy marinara sauce. The stuffed gnocchi, light fluffy pillows of pasta stuffed with Asiago cheese with a sun dried tomato cream sauce. Chicken Milanese topped with a lemon butter sauce and a tomato conserva and arugula salad. Rigatoni ala Vodka. And our final dish sausage ragu bianco, homemade radiatorre pasta in a spicy sausage ragu sauce. All of the entrees were phenomenal, we each tried some of each!!! We ended our meal with the best Tiramisu we've had in a long time, Basque cheesecake, and a cannoli. From start to finish we were blown away! If you haven't eaten there or it's been a while, GO GO GO!

A Modo Mio offers many food specials. For example, on Tuesdays, that's when we stopped there for…read moredinner, all their pasta dishes are 1/2 price. However, given that they ranked 32nd among this country's top 50 Pizza restaurants, I had to order a pizza. And I'll get to my pizza after I discuss some other things, because it all plays together. Also, during my visit, I kept drawing comparisons between this place and Pupatella, a local Neapolitan pizza juggernaut. The Big Question to answer is why A Modo Mio got a spot on the Top 50 while Pupatella didn't even make the cut. Access is easy, and parking is good. There are lots of spaces that wrap around the restaurant. That's in contrast to Pupatell, which has limited parking and where I always wind up using the Safeway lot across the street. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating. It also has a long, well-stocked bar where you can sit to enjoy a beverage or a meal. Pupatella doesn't have any of that. When you arrive, you're greeted by a host who shows you to your seat. A very short while later, a waiter shows up and does all the things waiters do. At Pupatella, you wait in line to place your order, then find an open table. TLDR: Your dining experience, outside of the food, is much more civilized and relaxing at A Modo Mio. The pie that earned their 32 out of 50 ranking was the Sicilia. But I ordered a 12" Casertana because I'm not crazy about eggplant and like sausage. The pie arrived a short while later, piping hot and loaded with sausage. The taste was sublime and delicious. My only complaint was that the basil was added before baking, and I prefer that herb when it's not reduced to ash. So back to The Big Question, is the A Modo Mio pizza *that* much better than Pupatella that it earned a spot amongst the Top 50 while the other one didn't even make the cut? Frankly, it's not. It is good pizza... possibly great pizza. But that's also true of the other place. What sets A Modo Mio apart from that other place, and the answer to the Big Question, is that the criteria for generating the Top 50 list included more than the pizza. It also took into account: - Hospitality and Service - Ambiance - Beverage Program. Beyond the pizza, A Modo Mio has those things in abundance, while the other place pretty much has none. TLDR: Comparing pizzas side by side, the two places are on par. However, if you take into account the entire dining experience, you will be much happier with your pizza here, as opposed to that other place or most other pizza restaurants in the DMV area.

But to be honest... even with "fork and knife pizza" the toppings should not be goopy and slippery. Does the best pie and Arlington hold like that on the regular? Nothing special about the toppings either. The crust and dough were the best part of this experience, but an amazing pie, should have all component's complimenting each other. Is it decent pizza? Yes. Best pizza in Arlington? I don't think so.
