Pad See Ew - flat rice noodle, Thai and American broccolis and an egg in sweet soy sauce
    Eloy Y.

North Jersey restaurants, especially present, have many cuisine varieties, mixing ethnicities, food regions, and cultures. Clifton can brag on a number of delicious Asian restaurants offering everything from traditional staples to contemporary fusion. Located on a busy Parker Avenue, I've been coming to Clifton Thai for years and stopped today for lunch. The vibe was welcoming and relaxed. It was a special treat to see both owners and their daughter after 2 years. Greeted by Tony of the husband/wife duo team, who takes the time to get to know the regular customers, I was seated immediately by the window. With the brisk temperatures, I started out with the chicken dumpling soup consommé, which consisted of a Clear Broth Soup, Cellophane Noodles, Scallions, and Napa. My main meal was Pad See-Ew with Tofu from their lunch menu with a soda. During my meal, the other owner, Jib (pronounced: yeep), dropped by with their 10-month-old daughter to catch up. The food has the perfect texture, which remains tastefully delicious and authentic using the freshest ingredients. The service was spot on and the price very reasonable. One can't go wrong here if you want to try good Thai food, which I continue to recommend.

9/28/24 Clifton Thai was a cute little restaurant. Service was good. Thai Sausage - ok either way with or without the dipping sauce Lychee and Coconut Juices were refreshing. Crispy Duck Tamarind Sauce - excellent, crispy outside and tender inside and tasty sauce that was slightly tart and sweet and garlicky Shrimp Massaman Curry - meh, although hubby liked it

Ordered for delivery this time. We had the drunken noodles (with chicken) again since we liked it last time, and had the pad Thai (with tofu), and pineapple fried rice (with pork). The drunken noodles weren't it this time. I don't know if they overcooked the noodles, or if it wasn't fresh but the noodles were all broken down. The chicken was dry/rubbery and had a leftover taste to it. The pad Thai was pretty good though - perfect sour:salty:sweet ratio. I normally wouldn't order tofu as a protein but I'm glad I did because the tofu tasted fresh, and not boxed like the supermarket kind. Fried rice was kind of bland. Still can't say this will be my go to Thai place but I guess it will do if you're in a pinch. Prices are also cheaper than other Thai spots in the area.

A cozy, cute, place of Thai gem. Looking for Thai restaurant for Sunday lunch, we soon realized the one of our favorite Thai restaurants in River Vale would be too far away from where we moved in. Yelp search gave us two or three options nearby. Drove in within 15 mins. It has probably fewer than 20 seats, but a nice nana movable wall which can make the entire dining area a semi-outdoor. The owner seems very confident with the menu, and kindly asked us if we were a firs-time visitor. He also explained two other locations including the one in NYC which has been closed due to a fire. We ordered a Thai salad, Sauted ginger calamari, and of course shrimp Pad Thai with a coconut juice, and ended our meal with fried banana rolls. All meals we ordered surprised us and we left nothing but empty dishes! The Pad Thai was well prepared & seasoned and a right amount for two to share. We found all ingredients were fresh. The calamaris were a bit short in amount, but gingers, orions and scallions were more than enough in the salted wok. The fried banana were well paired with honey and cream. I told the owner that he got two new patrons today.

We ordered take out while visiting family in NJ. I ordered the pad see ew with shrimp spice level one. I thought the dish was good. The flavor was there and it was a good amount of spice. I also got the crab rangoons I wish there was more crab it just tasted like cream cheese to me. My daughter got the chicken pad Thai. I had a few bites it was good but I preferred the pad see ew.

I got takeout from here and thought the food was not particularly good. I ordered a Thai breaded shrimp appetizer, drunken noodles, pad see ew, Panang curry, and basil eggplant. The best item was the breaded shrimp. The rest was subpar. The two noodle dishes were bland and lacked any sort of spice and flavor. The curry was watery and very much overwhelmed by the coconut milk where I could barely taste the curry. The basil eggplant was ok, but forgettable. The one positive is that the prices are on the lower end when compared to other Thai restaurants, but that in itself is not enough for a return visit from me given the food quality.

The staff here is so friendly and efficient. The place is quaint and cute. We ordered a variety of food and everything was great. I especially enjoyed the Thai salad as it was so fresh and crisp. My husband ordered the drunken noodle. It should have been saucier but it was still tasty. The sauce on the wings was too sweet. I was expecting Thai Chili instead, but they weren't horrible. We ended our brunch with fried coconut ice cream and left the restaurant wobbling. We highly recommend this place. Amazing!

    Drunken Noodles

Honestly- average food. I'm wondering if it would be better in person. However when you order online, they ask you what spicy level you want your item. I got the drunken noodles at a level 9 because I can handle spice well. When it was received, it was as if they completely replaced the taste of kee mao/drunken noodles with sambal instead of adding more chilies or jalapeños to the sauce. Because of this, the flavor was completely lacking. I also want to point out that even if this was the case, the sambal definitely wasn't spicy enough to make the noodles categorized as spice level 9. The Tom Yum Goon was average at best. Not much spice, overly sweet and shrimp were pretty dried out (again probably because of delivery). Lastly, green curry- taste was totally there, but chicken was dry and I feel like they gave you tiny chunks and maximized on the bell peppers. Just some personal feedback. Otherwise I'm sure it's a good establishment, that would've been better had not gotten it delivered.

Small restaurant that has a vibe of being on an island and eating with the locals. You step from the sidewalk into the resturant (no doors on nice days) Greeted immediately by friendly staff. I was picking up my Drunken noodles, spring rolls and coconut shrimp. 20 minute ride home. I'm thinking reheat microwave for the noodles and oven for the others the oven. Nope, the noodles were hot like they came straight from the stove. Spring rolls and shrimp crispy. How!!! The vented packaging prevents crispy food from become soggy. Drunken Noodles had the perfect amount of heat. A portion enough for two people. The spring rolls needed the dipping sauce. The coconut shrimp tasted lacked the taste of coconut. Next time, I'll skip the apps. Byob Apple Pay Street parking.

As always our meal was delicious. For apps we had: 2 chive dumplings, springrolls, fried calamari, and crab rangoon. For entrees we got cellophane noodles w chicken, as well as, pineapple friend rice with shrimp. We also got 2 versions of Thai iced tea. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. JUAN is amazing. He is a server that doesn't disappoint. Ps Their mango/warm pudding dessert is to die for

I've been ordering dinner from Clifton Thai for the past several years and I have yet to be disappointed. The food is delicious and flavorful. Tonight, I decided on chicken pad Thai spicy level 3. If you like a little punch of spice then level 3 is right amount of spice. I have loved ordering from here since they opened. Always consistent and friendly.

I stumbled across this spot for lunch and called in my order. I ordered the drunken noodle with shrimp lunch special and it only came up to a little over $10. The man that took my order was super nice. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into this cute restaurant. I was greeted and my food was ready. The meal came with a drink. I paid and left. They ask what my heat level was and I ordered a 6 out of 10 and it was nice and spicy. I liked my meal, it was nice and tasty. I would definitely return.

The restaurant is tiny and immaculate. The food was incredibly vibrant with just the right amount of spice/heat with some other magical components (that's missing from the other local Thai spots we've tried in the past) that had us savoring every bite. The Thai iced tea? Phenomenal and the perfect 'balancing act' while having a dish of spicy food. At first we complained that the portion-size was small but we'd left... stuffed. Slowly making my way through Jersey's Thai restaurants and seeing which ones stand out... Up next…read moreon my list was Topaz Thai in Belleville, a business that's been sitting in my Yelp collections for awhile. With plenty of positive reviews, I was excited to give it a try! This family-owned biz is on Washington Ave. Parking can be a little annoying since it's a busy street with metered spaces, but there's a small paid lot next door with a limited number of spots. I stopped by on a Saturday evening and was seated right away. The place felt cozy and casual with the charm of a mom-and-pop restaurant. The menu is full of Thai classics, and the lunch specials seem like a great value. Prices are reasonable too, with most entrees under $20. Whenever I try a new Thai spot, I like to get a few staple dishes that I've ordered countless times before. Consider it my unofficial Litmus test! I went with: *Mama Loaded Thai Tacos $11.95 [crispy shells topped with ground chicken, herbs, cilantro, nuts, ginger, and lemon] - Loaded is definitely the right word here. These crispy shells were packed to the brim with flavorful, well-seasoned ground chicken and toppings in every bite. They also served it with a bottle of their EXTRA spicy Thai chili sauce-and trust me, it lives up to its name. Just a few drops had my tongue on fire! They're not traditional tacos, but I liked the Thai-inspired twist on them. The unique flavors were a delicious start to the meal. *Chicken Rama Curry with side of Jasmine rice $16.95 [coconut milk, red curry paste, roasted peanuts, tamarind paste, and fish sauce topped with chicken & mixed vegetables] - The winning dish! The curry was so rich, creamy, and nutty. It was so good that I was tempted to pick up the bowl and drink every last drop LOL. The spice level started off mild, but the heat slowly built up after a few spoonfuls. *Chicken Pad Thai $15.95 [stir-fried thin noodles with egg, peanuts, scallion, bean sprouts, and tamarind sauce] - You can't skip Thailand's national dish! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and they didn't skimp on the protein. I got PLENTY of tender chicken in every bite. The only thing holding it back from being a 5/5 for me was the sauce. Pad thai is known for its balance of savory, sweet, tangy, and nutty flavors, and this was a little TOO sweet for me. The sugar overpowered the other flavors. I wish they had given me a lime wedge to brighten things up. Still, I enjoyed the dish overall and can see it being a hit for anyone who prefers a sweeter pad thai. *Mango Sticky Rice $12.95 [coconut sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut cream] - It's mango season, baby, so there's no way I was leaving without ordering this! The rice was warm, lightly sweet, and infused with a creamy coconut flavor. Absolutely loved the sticky and chewy texture. The mango was more sour/tart than sweet. A riper mango would've made this dessert even better, but this was still the perfect ending to a meal. As for the portion sizes? No complaints. I had leftovers to take home and still felt satisfied. The service was on point! Everyone was kind and attentive. The food came out quickly, so there really wasn't much waiting around. Topaz Thai, you made a strong first impression! Between the homey atmosphere, solid food, reasonable prices, great value, and friendly service, this spot easily earned a second visit. I'm excited to come back and try more menu items!

Upon entering as a first-timer, I was greeted by the owner's wife, Bankie, and led to a table by the window inside a cozy, warm, and welcoming dining area with minimal traditional Thai decor. I decided on the Pad Thai () with fried tofu accompanied by Thai iced tea (). The food was incredibly flavorful and fresh, using the best ingredients, resulting in the perfect balance of spices. Every dish is thoughtfully executed and prepared to provide an authentic taste. The tofu was perfectly cooked. Portion size was just right. The staff was warm, welcoming, and very attentive, which made the whole dining experience even better. Since I had the entire place to myself, I had the honor to speak with the cook/owner, Narit. Over the years, it has become a go-to spot for both locals and visitors seeking a genuine taste of Thailand.
