Nizi Sushi is a hidden gem to satisfy udon, bento boxes, kalbi, bulgogi and all of your sushi cravings! *AMBIANCE* We were able to walk in on a weeknight where there was no wait. There's a large parking lot across the street. Nizi sushi feels like a sushi bar that decided to moonlight as a sports lounge with TVs galore. *FOOD* The menu is ambitious enough to fulfill your Japanese and Korean cravings together. The sushi rolls are fun and flavorful. The bento box comes with generous portions, and their sushi rolls are all so delicious. We also tried the calamari appetizer which was a bit different than your Italian calamari, although a tad greasy, still very tasty. Overall, you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. *SERVICE* Service was friendly and fast! Definitely recommend giving a try if you're in the East Rutherford area.

My order was so yummy! There's street parking. Ambiance was decent but the service was a bit lengthy, staff was nice.

Wow the rolls are soo big and delicious! I really liked the spicy tuna tartar it was refreshing appetizer. Service was great too, friendly staff. First time going to a sushi restaurant that feels like a sports bar with multiple tvs and drink options (sake, cocktail, beer etc) They have parking space across the street

The ambiance was nice. I was greeted upon entering and had my choice of where to sit. I didn't really care for my server as she seemed to have a look of "here we go"; but I figured she was having a bad day. The sushi was fresh and tasty. The calamari was not greasy and had a nice crunch to it as well. I also had the tiramisu which was pretty good. The steamed goyza was also delicious! Outside of the server, I would come back to eat here again.

Stopped by while on vacation as my birthday lunch. Reasonable prices for the rolls and the sweet potato roll was really good. Eel sauce was fishy though. I will say the service was so/so. Aside from taking our order, they didn't return to check on us or to give us the check. They did have usher playing and although at the beginning there were some bangers, after 1.5 hours of usher playing non stop- it was a bit much.

I always pass by this sushi place on the bus and finally got to check it out. Hubby, baby, and I stopped by on a Saturday for lunch at around 1:30. It was pretty packed at that time, but there were still some tables left. The dining room is pretty spacious and they were able to accommodate our stroller. To start, they bring you some miso soup, which was very comforting on a cold day. They also gave us our own little pot of green tea, which was cute. We ordered a bunch of things to share, and they asked if it was okay if they just brought everything out on a sushi boat, which was fine by us. We had the Sashimi Regular (30 pieces of salmon, tuna, white tuna, and yellowtail), Fire Roll (spicy yellowtail, jalapeno, avocado, cucumber roll with spicy caviar, and extra spicy sauce on top), Salmon Combo (4 pcs of salmon sushi and Alaska roll), and a white tuna roll. The Sashimi Regular was totally worth it. 30 pieces of fish for $45, and it comes with a bowl of rice. It tasted fresh. I enjoyed the Fire Roll too but I hate special rolls smothered in sauces, so I asked for the sauce on the side, and this was the move. That way I could dip as much/as little as I wanted. The sauce was pretty good. It wasn't just spicy mayo but I think it also had sweet chili sauce and jalapenos it, so it had more of a kick. The regular rolls were also good - it was a good fish to rice ratio. I wish I tried this place sooner, but I'm glad I finally did. Will definitely be ordering some takeout here sometime in the near future. Tip - there is a big parking lot across the street - you won't miss it.

if you're into giant pieces of sushi that's filled with sauce and rice more than anything, then this place is for you. definitely not for me. the pieces were so huge that it wasn't even appetizing and would just fall apart, or you'd have to take multiple bites to finish one piece of sushi. this was the most gluttonous and unhealthy tasting sushi experience i've ever had.

Consumers, be aware... these sushi rolls are HUGE!!! More like monster sushi, super-sized sushi, jumbo sushi... whatever you wanna call it. I'm not complaining though! They can get messy to eat and they may or may not fit in your mouth in one bite... but they are very filling. We came in on a Saturday around 6pm and were seated right away. Nizi reminds me of a sports bar infused with a casual sushi restaurant. Service was phenomenal! All servers were attentive, friendly, and prompt. We were given complimentary miso soup, which was a nice touch. It took us awhile to settle on an order because their menu offers SO many options! They have 40 different special rolls, 30+ regular rolls, sashimi, Korean dishes, teriyaki boxes, and more. They also have a full bar with cocktails, wines, soju, and beer. We decided on the Nizi Love Platter- 5 Special Rolls for $80.00 and 2 lychee martinis (~$12 each). I was STARVING so I couldn't wait to stuff my face. Roll #1 Lobster Roll - Generous amount of spicy lobster, only comes in 5 pieces. Roll #2 Samurai Roll - My second favorite roll of the 5. It has a sweet after taste from the eel sauce. Roll #3 Samba Roll - Not a big fan. The tuna tempura was oxidized and was a brown/gray color. The spicy salmon wasn't spicy at all... and the mango overpowered everything else. Roll #4 Crazy Salmon Roll - My personal favorite of the 5! It had huge chunks of torched salmon, creating a smoky, crispy flavor. Roll #5 Nizi Special Roll - Not too crazy about this one. The shrimp tempura wasn't crispy enough and the mango in the roll overpowered the yellowtail, salmon, and tuna. I felt like I was just eating mango sushi. Overall... a hit or miss with the special rolls. Although the meal was filling, it wasn't the freshest and most flavorful fish I've had. Some of the rolls lacked overall flavor harmony, with certain sauces and ingredients overpowering the others. 3 of the rolls were supposed to be spicy, but it was too mild for me. Their presentation is great, but they need to work on the quality and flavor. The lychee martinis were refreshing, I just wish it was a bit sweeter. I do prefer smaller sized sushi but I still think Nizi is worth a try. I'll try their regular rolls next time.

One of my offices picked this spot for lunch. The order was called in and I got the chicken teriyaki lunch special. When I arrived I parked in their private lot across the street. I walked in and was greeted, paid and left. My meal came with Sushi and miso soup. The meal was pretty good and definitely filling. I had a good experience.

This sushi spot has the most fresh sushi ever! Our number 1 sushi spot to go to. Ambience is chilled with good service.

Late lunch and craved Japanese food. Decided to try Nizi Sushi and they did not disappoint. Thankfully, a late lunch hour worked better since it wasn't crowded. Heard dinner time is packed so would love to check that out. They don't take reservations apparently, so best to come early for dinner. The space is also pretty large with rooms that can accommodate a party of 20. Food is delicious, but I am looking forward to heading back to try other items on their menu. Worth checking out, guys. Oh, and big plus, they have their own parking area just right across the street. Don't make a mistake of parking right next to their restaurant. Those spaces apparently belong to the restaurant next door and you might be towed.

By far my favorite sushi place. Since moving out of the area, I will still drive the 30 minutes to dine here every so often. I always get the sushi but have had the beef kimbop a few times which was very good. The fish is always fresh and the rice to filling ratio is perfect. I started coming here when they were just a small hole in the wall and they offer the same great quality of food and service since they moved to the bigger location a few years ago if not better because they're able to accommodate a lot more people now. They are also great for take out and have good lunch specials.

They have an extensive menu with sushi, sashimi, teriyaki, noodles, soup, salads, fusion appetizers, etc. They even have some Korean items like bulgogi, sundubu, and bibimbap. Prices are reasonable. I called and placed a take-out order near closing time. The employee was accommodating, pleasant, and told me my order would be ready in 15 minutes. I drove over and was able to find street parking easily. The interior is casual and spacious, but a little dreary and outdated. They have exposed brick walls, wood tables, and hanging light fixtures. My food was prepared on time. I ordered: *Salmon Lover - 4 pieces of sushi, 4 pieces of sashimi, 6 piece roll ($20.50) *Tuna Lover - 4 pieces of sushi, 4 pieces of sashimi, 6 piece roll ($20.50) The salmon and tuna were fresh in taste, texture, and smell. Vibrant colors, firm and smooth textures, and delicate flavors! The sushi rolls had the right fish to rice ratio. The rice could've been more seasoned. The miso soup was warm, savory, and comforting. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but it did the job of satisfying my cravings. I would return to try their special rolls!

*Quarantine Delivery Review*…read more I hate to give 2 stars right now, but the food really was not good. Being the Yelper that I am, I always look up restaurants before ordering but I couldn't find anything on Sushi Zen on Yelp. Still, I decided to give it a chance because $40 for a platter of sushi seemed like a great deal (I guess that was mistake #1). So I pulled the trigger. It wasn't after that did I find some Google Reviews (mistake #2 for not doing thorough research). It had a bunch of what seemed like fake reviews, and it's not even an actual restaurant! IT'S A SUSHI COUNTER INSIDE OF A SUPERMARKET! We ordered via Uber Eats, but it definitely did not mention it was supermarket sushi, so I feel very misled. The platter's description was Tokyo - 50 pieces of roll: two California rolls, two spicy tuna rolls, one salmon avocado roll, and one spicy crab roll. We paid an extra $4 to swap two regular rolls to "special rolls" but you don't get to pick, so we didn't know what they were. It turns out that their "special rolls" are just California rolls with a small piece of fish on top. Also, it was three California rolls instead of two (they swapped out one of the tuna rolls for this). The spicy crab roll was also just another California roll topped with spicy crab, which I must admit was not the worst. It was probably the most palatable roll of the bunch. Overall, this might be some of the worst sushi I've ever had. If you like California rolls and a crazy amount of rice in your rolls, you might like this. But if you're looking for real sushi, then you won't find it here.

Nothing sitting out already made in a fridge here, which I like. Shop owner was kind and friendly and clearly cared about producing some delicious food. He took his time. Rolls were a great size. To clear up confusion of prior reviewers, yes, this shop is located inside of the farmer's market. This shouldn't scare you away, as it is a separate business that just happens to be located in there. This is FAR from supermarket-grade sushi. Instead, I will be visiting this place for takeout much more often. A+ . Other reviewer must have visited on an off-day, as this sushi rivals some of the better sushi I've had elsewhere.
