Between this shop and Virtu in Bucktown, I'm reminded why I love shopping local and why it's so important to do so whenever possible. Vanessa, the owner, is exceedingly kind and stopping in today and having the chance to meet her feels like fate. When I first stopped in the other employee here greeted me and asked what brought me in and if I needed help finding anything. It's not a large place but there is a LOT to look at. They have clothing, accessories, adult jewelry (possibly kids jewelry too, but I wasn't looking at it much), hair notions, and so on. One thing I really needed is a pacifier clip since my daughter has taken to pulling hers out and it ends up in a place in her carseat that is hard for me to reach! They happened to have these which made it a successful shopping trip right there. But whilst we were wandering, Vanessa complimented my sweetie pie and we got to talking. I was in the store for 35 minutes or so and probably half of that was chatting with her. I got a couple of the pacifier clips, and a freaking ADORABLE winter hat that I'm pretty sure is handmade and will probably fly off the shelf. I also bought a book featuring Chicago landmarks which I learned as I checked out Vanessa actually wrote. She autographed it for my baby which I love! Parking is street only and probably can get tough some days, but it's worth the visit. The store is full of really high quality items. They have quite a few Chicago-themed items as well, such as the aforementioned hat, onesies, t-shirts, and so on. It was so nice to talk with Vanessa and get to know her a bit. This is a small shop with big heart and should be on your list of fave baby shops in Chicago. read more

This is not a place to window shop. You WILL buy stuff. I learned this the hard way. The selection is insane and there's such a wide variety of styles and price points, I was lucky to get out having only bought two things, and they were cute as hell. A great place to treat yoself. read more

My first time in the store - what an impression - five stars is not high enough. Vanessa, the owner, is the sweetest, most attentive and generous shop owner ever encountered. I am in town awaiting the arrival of grandchild. My daughter and I came in looking for baby girl hair accessory to match a coming home from the hospital outfit. 12/4: Went by last week and - sadly - the store's now For Lease. Bored with the earrings I have, I decided to check this spot out. What a wonderland of sparklies! Pity I didn't need necklaces, bracelets, small purses, as they had tons of all of them. (Other side of the store is kid stuff, which I REALLY don't need.) Another plus is that most of the earrings are really lightweight, which is good for me since I used to wear those big chandelier earrings and the piercing stretched. Ironically, the floral/beaded earrings I chose pulled my earlobe just a bit when I first wore them. However--since Vanessa makes many of the earrings herself--I just took the earrings back for a 'bead removal.' Problem solved. read more

BabyDolls Boutique is adorable. I stopped in here to kill time while waiting to meet a friend by the Music Box theater and found the perfect earrings and cute little card for another friend's birthday present. The accessories are absolutely adorable, and they also have a good stationary collection, as well as super friendly staff. I didn't really look at the children's side of things, but that side looked like it'd be dangerous to take your daughter to - if she were really girly, she'd want everything (just like I wanted nearly everything on the grown up side). I have stopped into Baby Dolls twice and each time I have been greeted by a smiling friendly salesperson. Most recently I was shopping for a birthday gift for my sister. I wanted to get her a monogram or alphabet charm and when they didn't have the letter I needed Vanessa offered to order me one and have it ready by the weekend. Sure enough she called me Friday afternoon telling me it was there. She was so helpful and friendly, definitely much better service than I have had in any other Southport boutique, which seem to all be staffed by snotty salesgirls. She has really cute jewelry in there, I initially was thrown off because I thought it was mostly items for children but now it's one of my favorite accessory shops! This place is awesome! You can always find unique accessories here. My roommate introduced me to Baby Dolls Boutique about a year ago and I'm hooked. I always buy b'day gifts from here b/c you won't be able to find most items from here at any other store. I'm also a huge rhinestone fan so this place is like heaven for me. I stopped in Baby Dolls Boutique today to pick up a few items for Christmas gifts. The owner Vanessa was there and introduced herself to me. Up until this point, I have only met the other sister (Megan) while shopping at Baby Dolls Boutique. These girls are the nicest shop owners I think I have ever met in my life. I got two beautiful gifts- a ring and a baby gift. I was pressed for time and when I walked in I was serviced immediately. I told Vanessa who I was buying for and the price points I wanted to stay within. Within 8 minutes I was holding two perfect gifts. She wrapped them both beautifully. I also picked up two of the beautiful hand made greeting cards they have in their shop, no two cards were alike that I saw, they were all hand crafted and so unique. I mentioned casually that my daughter and I were going to Toys for Tots to donate some toys since they are experiencing a shortage. Vanessa donated a toy to me to take to Toys for Tots which I thought was so kind of her. If this store isn't a reason of why you should shop local and support your local neighborhood shops I have no idea what is. You won't get customer service like this at a chain store EVER. This review is long overdue. Prior to this shop, I rarely owned any accessories. Since walking into this beautifully inviting store in Lakeview, my bling game has improved from a level 2 to level 10. The shop holds the most unique items for all taste. The owner always greets customers with a sweet hello and always asks if we need help finding a particular item. I just found out she also customized pieces for you for any event. Let's not even forget about the high quality children pieces from everyday wear to special occasions like baptisms, weddings & communions. There is also super cute kids Cubs attire. NO!!!! The lady that runs this place is horrible. She was so rude to me when I asked her a question about having an alternate color of an article of clothing. I work in customer service so I don't think I said anything wrong but she basically said "if you don't like it, go elsewhere". And that is exactly what I intend to do. Shop at other nicer stores like Red Balloon, Little Threads, and Bebe Elegante Children's wear. This is possibly one of the coolest boutiques in the Southport Corridor. They have a "Mommy & Me" theme. I'm not much for the kids side, but I have gotten some pretty awesome unique baby gifts. If you happen to need an inexpensive gift check out the miss matched booties they carry! So cute. Now for the the grown up side. The jewelry is great, good selection and for Chicago, great price points. I always have to keep in mind I'm not at Clair's, and the quality is much better.
