Along with their move, came some much needed upgrades. 6+ volleyball courts, separating nets, gym, turf training area, concessions, restrooms, matted flooring, seating, etc. Everything is just so much nicer than their old location. I'd say the only downside is no AC other than fans for when it's hot. If it's cold, wear a long sleeve and you'll be fine. Open gym is every Tues, Thurs, and Sun I believe. It used to be $5/person, but now it's $10/person. But I honestly don't mind the small price increase if it means this place stays in business for years to come. Covid has affected many small businesses so please to everyone in the Houston volleyball community, support Spike Sport. You can also rent a private court depending on availability for $55/hr. I'll definitely be back here soon!

To play on the team you have to sign a contract so if it doesn't work out and you decide to leave you are still liable for the monthly payments. Randy, the owner, only speaks to the players directly and never addresses any issues about the players to their parents. If any parents had any concerns we could never reach the owner, no matter if there was an email, call or text. He was never available to speak on any these issues. He tells everyone's business to everyone else, so be careful what you divulge. Very weird and manipulative. They claim to have the best training in sports but our record was pretty horrible fall/spring 2022-2023 (W24/ L69) and nothing ever changed. The coaches were very sweet but weren't able to coach how they wanted and it showed, all 3 ended up leaving due to the same issues and not having a control over team decisions. The owner plays favorites to whichever parents spend the most moneys. After only being on another team for 2 weeks now, I've seen such a huge improvement on communication and training! I can see now that breakaway is not in it for the long haul. Sad part is you only see it once you get on Randy's bad side. Sadly the only thing my daughter did was not go to ONE tournament due to the cost which was advised to Randy months in advance but I guess that didn't matter. We were told by other parents that my daughter wasn't invited back to the next season but never told directly from the coach.

Certainly nothing to complain about there. The one thing I wanted to include in a review was related to a vehicle related crime while we were attending a training session inside. While parked in front of the building, two individuals attempted to steal my catalytic converters. They got one but were interrupted before they could fully remove the other. The witness entered the facility and I was notified of the event. This was approximately 5:30 (Monday, broad daylight) on a Monday. I inquired with the employees about security footage and was told that there were cameras. I indicated that I would like to get copies of the footage but had to leave at that time. Two days later(Wednesday), I was finally able to get my police report filed (long story) and called Breakaway just before 3 PM. The individual I spoke with new nothing of the event and was not able to give me any information regarding the security cameras. She indicated that she would talk to the owner and to expect a call back that day as they take those things seriously. Two days later (Friday) just before 3 PM, I called back after hearing nothing. The individual was surprised to hear that the owner had not called me and said that the camera footage was reviewed but I was in a blind spot for the cameras. I don't know if the footage was ever checked or whether I was in a blind spot, but I never received a call from the facility to let me know and had to call back myself. From where I was parked, I could see security cameras. I don't know if they were out of service or what, but no attempt was made to communicate any of that to me. If you go, watch your car!

Even though the Sunset Bingo MC was difficult to hear while seated on the grass, the staff were more than willing to rearrange some tables to accommodate the growing crowd. On my way to the (super clean!) restroom I I saw that they had a reading room, which made me instantly fall in love! They also have an arts & craft station with materials free to use. There were many families with young kids enjoying the water playground areas. The fact that they have family reservations available lets me know that this park is well aware of its draw and appeal. Birthdays? reunions? book a spot! The nearby restaurants and easy parking are major pluses. Levy Park has a packed calendar of events so I'm bound to be back before the summer ends.

There is also a large grassy area for toddlers to run around (ours loves to run on the grass). Lots of beautiful live oaks. Had no issue finding parking on the adjacent street. The only issue -- there was a lot of small broken glass pieces by one of the trees. I'm assuming this was an anomaly but definitely not what you want to see at a children's park.

Also, its a piece of old Houston; it was established in 1926. This Rice University area park has a neighborhood organization that takes excellent care of the area. To the tune of $10,000 per year. As well they should, it's one of the last bastions of built-to-last playgrounds. Steel and wood and charm, no plastic. Who doesn't remember climbing on the pumpkin stagecoach at Pumpkin Park? Fleming Park is meant to be charming and unforgettable. If playground equipment isn't your thing, there are plenty of picnic tables, oak trees, and general relaxation areas. A perfect pocket picnic park. There's also a couple of tennis courts, two B-ball hoops, and a baseball diamond. There is no sign for the park, only a list of park rules and a community board. If you're uncertain that you are at the correct park, look for a 15' Totem Pole Bird House that was erected in 1991 by Fletcher Mackey. It is constructed of Cypress and Cedar Wood, ceramic, copper, and painted steel. One item of sadness, some idiot(s) stole the lamb spring ride back in January. There are signs on the community board with a photo and plea for its return. Rather, I should say "her." She was named "Mary the Lamb." Again, she's very, very cute, has a snow white fleece, and a giant metal spring attached to her underside.

They care about what they are doing and are great representatives for Commissioner Briones. They care about their job, the center and the people who use the center and its programs. The park is a great place for activities for kids and allows for so many different sports. Also, allows for private family picnics are small group activities. Highly, highly recommend.
