Staff is super friendly at this historic location in Port Clinton. We tried the Walleye Bites which were delicious with their homemade tartar sauce. On the night of the Burning Snowman Festival, we stopped at Clinton House, expecting to catch the final bus there, as advertised, at 11 PM. While waiting inside for the slightly delayed bus, we witnessed the bartender, (presumably) the owner, and one of the servers aggressively forcing elderly guests (who weren't in the way of any closing tasks) out into sub freezing temps-- while allowing her own friends to stay. Despite being listed as an official bus stop, the owner claimed she never agreed to it. If that's their attitude toward festival-goers, I'll be sure to let Port Clinton know they shouldn't be on event listings in the future. read more

This is a beautiful old building to have a meal. My husband and I enjoyed our food, it was cooked perfectly. We had the Perch dinner with fries and Cole slaw. We ordered an additional side salad. We didn't want the Cole slaw or roll, but our waitress said there were no substitutions. Food came out with an expeditor and it was hot. The reason for the 4 stars is our waitress never asked if we wanted anything else and just brought our bill when we were still eating. Live music, good food, friendly staff (especially bartender who seemed to know all the locals and treat newcomers as old friends). We each had a fish sandwich, perch for me and walleye for my wife. Creamy coleslaw and fries that were pretty typical. The old building is kept restored but clean and well kept. This was a great first night in Port Clinton and well worth a stop for dinner especially if you enjoy listening to some music while dining. read more

Cute place in historic building on the downtown strip. I am sure this place is hopping during the summer and boating seasons. We visited for lunch on a Sunday. The place was almost a ghost town. We were the only customers. The place is drafty but interesting. The bartender was our server. The bar seems sparse. Large TVs with sports are observable from most seats in the house. Menu looked interesting, but the food fell a little short. Potatoes pancakes were okay but not much flavor. They cooked my chicken wings well but no flavor. The sauce was on the side and just ok. My hub's hot ham and cheese sandwich was fine. The fries were just fries. Could have been cooked a little longer so they were crispy but not this visit. The soups are listed as $2.99 for a cup on the menu. Server rattled off the offerings, but didn't inform us that the lobster bisque cost more. Not unreasonable but should be on the menu or given the info when ordering. Turned out to be $5.99 a cup. If you can get past the grey lobster bits, the soup is fine. Not the best but hit the spot. I wouldn't order it again. It looks like we missed brunch. That may have been better. The folding tables were a bit of a turn off when walking in, and the parking situation is not apparent. Thankfully it was Sunday afternoon and the business next door was closed, so we parked there. There is an Irish pub across the street that appears to get a lot of business. Irish food isn't our thing so we opts for Clinton House. It's A-okay if looking for a hot meal and watching a football game in peace. read more

Typical bar fare. Club sandwich was good. Perch sandwiches were good, but no lettuce or tomato served on side with it. (Just offering it to customers, on the side would be a nice touch) We had the vegetables as the side and since the vegetables were in a glaze, it got the bun from my fish sandwich all soggy. Simple suggestions would be to separate the veges from the sandwich. The lobster bisque was the unfortunately not good. There was something crunchy in it and the lobster had a very odd taste to it. As for service, please bring a pitcher of water to the table when refilling. The waiter kept taking our glasses over to the fill station, have the edges of our cups and straws up against his hands and shirt. Just for reference, check the live entertainment days and times, bc when a band is playing- it is very loud, but that was our fault for not making an earlier reservation to avoid the music. read more

Went to have dinner there on 7/5/22. They had ONE poor gal waiting tables and working the bar. They were out of French fries and perch. I maybe understand being out of perch but French fries??? Just got into town after long day of traveling with no eating. The mozzarella wedges were amazing!! We ordered the special which was a kind of chicken with pasta. Waited a good long while after being told we could sit anywhere. Nobody ever came to our table. It appeared that the lucky people at the bar were being taken care of by the bartender, but those of us at tables were apparently shit out of luck. It has a cozy, down to earth vibe with an amazing wooden wrap around bar. We were promptly greeted by our spunky server and ordered some margaritas, which were really nicely made. I ordered the perch sandwich with extra lettuce, tomato and smoked gouda. It came with hand cut herbed fries. Yum! My hubby ordered the Cuban sandwich with hand cut herbed fries. Another yum! My wife and I enjoyed prime rib, great music, and good company on New Year's Eve at the Clinton House. They were very busy but it did not effect the food or the service. Nate was our server and did an excellent job taking care of us. We moved to Port Clinton last August and have frequented the Clinton House a couple times prior to last night. This place SLAMS. We stopped here for dinner one night because my husband saw on the specials board that they offered lobster Mac and cheese as a Saturday special. There was a band playing, plenty of space and tables even though it was pretty crowded. Our server was very nice and attentive and even though we sat ourselves he was quick to notice us and get menus. I had the perch dinner and it was delicious!
