I love my closet now! My installer was very polite and professional. I was given a time frame of when he would arrive and he was within that time frame. My installer asked me if I preferred him to take his shoes off or keep them on and he also brought a moving blanket to put down while he worked. I paid a little over $3,500.00 and I believe it was worth it. My installer was by himself and only took about an hour to finish. I would recommend this company. read more

$8k for closets and they LOOK LIKE TEENAGERS BUILT THEM. Workers came 3 times. SO MANY more imperfections. Tami - professional & got the quote back to us quickly. She explained that because of discount at that time, her "designer" discount, & a "multi-space" discount (did 4 closets), we would get approx. 50% off (bringing our cost to approx. $8,000)! We proceeded. A designer came out (I believe Sue) who was wonderful! Not one bad thing to say about her. Installation began 10 weeks later (12/1/21). Closets were installed in 1 day & they looked TERRIBLE. We chose the most basic option they offer - the Everyday Collection. 2 young guys (early 20s) did the installation & it was obvious they did not give a care about how anything looked. We recently remodeled the entire house so everything was brand new and freshly painted. During installation they: 1. scratched walls and ceilings in places where there was no closet, 2. used chipped panels in every closet, 3. created tons of holes when screwing closets in, 4. broke off a large piece of a panel & instead of telling us they damaged the piece & would give us a new one, they "patched" it and hoped we wouldn't notice. We were SPEECHLESS! We reached back out, dealt with Julie and Blake(the manager). My husband set up a date for them to come back and "repair" the damages (we would have preferred to have them NOT come back seeing how TERRIBLE of a job they did the first time, but unfortunately, they don't give discounts!). They finally came back for the repairs on Friday (2/18/22) mid-day.,EVERY closet needed to be repaired & they ran out of time(go figure). They finished ONE closet that day. Damages were still so bad (more damages & nonsense). They said they will be back to finish the rest on Tuesday (3/1/22)-not the following week, but the week after.. HOW ARE YOU NOT GOING TO COME BACK IMMEDIATELY TO REPAIR THE REST OF THE CLOSETS?! How unprofessional! This further showed we weren't a priority. My husband spoke w/ Julie who said Blake will reach out to him, never did.. I reached out to Julie to tell her how horrendous & careless the job was. Told her I had photos of the closet that was "finished & repaired" & she asked me to send the photos to Blake. I sent the photos,he asked me to explain exactly which panels were still damaged. I told him no, as I don't want them to touch the closet anymore since we all know there will just be more damage. He then offered a discount of 5% .. HA!!! I told him that's basically an insult & a slap in the face for everything we have dealt with! His response to that - nothing! The workers came back Tuesday morning as scheduled (3/1/22) and finished "repairing" the damages. I cleaned the closets & was appalled. How could such a "professional" company do such an awful job and charge us EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($8,000) !! I regretted not going with a different company..even IKEA! Attached photos of the closets are after the "repairs". We don't want them back to our house again. Individually, these mistakes & damages don't seem like a big deal..but when you pay $8,000, the closets to be AT LEAST decent! Do yourself a favor & CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY!!!! Got the warranty from Angela, looked it over & the info on the warranty was wrong. Wrong name, address, job #, date! If I didn't catch this, they wouldn't have either! I had them done my master bedroom walk in closet, laundry room shelvings, hallway closet and my 2nd bedroom closet. Everything was fine even through an initial appointment with their designer Deborah, who came out to measure everything, gave me suggestions and made floor plans of the closets. Everything went down a sh*t show after that. They came to my place to install the closets for the first time on 09/12, then realized they had a wrong design (Deborah made a mistake), and paused the work until they came back the 2nd time on 10/06. At that installment, they realized the wooden boards that they brought in correspond to the closet designer (Deborah)'s drawings, but do not match with the description I was given by the designer (12" width of the shoe rack vs 16") through text, which ends up not solving the original problem I raised to the designer after the 09/12 installation. They charged me around $130 to come back for this time on 10/06, which ended up with them not completing anything..so a cost I paid for nothing. This 10/06 installation was still wrong in that they missed out two shelves for my shoe shelvings that the designer promised me, so they schedule to come back on 10/18 just to deliver the two shelves. However, I found out that the two wooden boards delivered were cut around 1-2mm too long and cannot be added to the shelf. I had to ask my personal contractor to cut them to prevent Closets by Designs to take forever to fix that for me AGAIN. Mind you, this whole process took the initial appointment of June till literally end of October. It's ridiculous. I called the office maybe more than 10 times, asking to talk to the boss, talked to Carol, etc. to ask for a refund of my last payment of $130. All I got was "we don't do refunds", offered a dinner gift card of $100 that I have absolutely no use of and refused to apologize. The timeline of taking almost half a year is also absurd. I have other similar closet works worth more than $30k that I intended to use them initially, which I also explicitly mentioned already, but definitely not now. I don't think they understand how much damage their poor customer service can do to them. read more

Had our closet installed May 2016. Shannon at the office, and Susan the sales person were great to work with. Susan custom designed our layout and we like it very much. The reason for 2 stars deduction is the installation. The installer was very polite and well mannered. But the big problem we had was not taking shoes off. He did ask upon initial arrival if he could keep his shoes on because there were 100+ pieces he needed to bring upstairs from the truck. We said ok, (but why not have some floor-runner tarps or blankets??) We recently had our furnace replaced and that company had floor runners from our front door all the way to our basement closet (we were Extremely impressed with that). And multiple times over the 3 day install, we saw that shoes were on while working. Also the installer brought his helper 2x. And one time the helper kept his work boots on. So overall, that was a quite disappointing and frustrating experience for us. I own a company that deals with residential customers. My employees have 3 options to choose from, with No exceptions: 1). Remove your shoes 2). Wear bootie covers 3). Use floor runners Following those guidelines basically guarantees customer loyalty and especially referrals. Overall, quality is good and price was high but acceptable. But I think we'll be checking out other options for our next project in the future. read more

Rude Rep, Disorganized and Difficult to Contact Salesteam Very similar experience to Vikki (review below). At first I was only slightly annoyed with a very patronizing (ladies, you know what I mean) sales guy. I started to move forward with the first of my three projects and he came by to get my credit card. (They can't do this over the phone or email.) He showed up very late and unprepared. Midway through reviewing the design I realized it was not what we had agreed on, because he forgot to confirm with his engineers that they could actually build the design. I said we needed to stop and I wanted to rethink it, at which point he flipped out at me. He proceeded to very patronizingly tell me about how much money he was making on the design and that if I decided to go with a lower level design he was not going to do it. I was shocked - like you're not going to sell me a closet because you didn't do your homework and now I'm picking a cheaper design? I reported this to Closets by Design and asked for a different consultant. I still want the project done and I have two more projects I may still do. They initially seemed equally horrified and sympathetic and said that they would reach out. I also made it clear I was extremely uncomfortable with the rep and didn't want to hear from him again and to please get my credit card info back. Shortly after, I get texts from the same rep, still trying to sell me. I called Closets by Design again and asked them again to make sure he stopped contacting me. Once again they said that the Sales Director would call me to get my project done. Almost a month later and supposedly she called but "got my voicemail which was full". I've called Closets by Design 3 times this week and keep getting different answers "she's in a meeting", "she's working from home", "she tried you...oh a long time ago", "we'll take a message". read more

UPDATE: NO ONE EVER CONTACTED ME. SALES REP COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED! PREVIOUS REVIEW: Actually a 3.5. I contracted Closets By Design for a seven and a half foot wide reach in closet. The saleswoman came out and showed us samples including one that she said she had actually hit with her car and run over and was still in fantastic shape so of course that was a major selling point. The unit we selected retailed for $5,000 but we had a 40% off coupon so actually ended up paying around $3,000. The coupon had also said free installation but no mention was ever made of installation costs or savings so I'm not sure if they offer free installation on all their products or not. The day of install came and right up until that day the saleswoman was sending texts and making calls to ensure everything was going to go smoothly. I asked the installer who was a male and alone if I could see the product before he installed it. I noticed that several of the edges of these brand new boards were already scuffed up and had nicks. They were not solid wood by any stretch of the imagination and all of the nicks showed the pressed board. But the installer said that none of the boards were actually to size and he would have to cut most of them on site so those edges would go away. He made quick work of the old closet shelves and the assembly of the new closet only took a couple hours. He did however need to use my bathroom and my electrical power supply. The biggest problem came at the end during cleanup. He had brought in a Shop-Vac and plugged it in next to my bed and fired it up. There was no bag or filter or whatever goes on a Shop-Vac to keep stuff in a Shop-Vac and a powerful spray of other people's dirt and dust shot like a fire hose throughout my room. it was not white like drywall it was brown and black dirt. I hollared to shut it off and he looked back first confused then astonished then mortified. The Cloud of other people's Nast had filled my bedroom and my hallway. I immediately messaged the saleswoman because I still owed half the balance and now had a massive mess in my room. She never responded. He didn't have a dustpan, took the check I'd given him out to his van and left right away. He seemed like a good guy and had done a good job and I could tell he was super embarrassed but that doesn't excuse the mess he made. After I started putting my clothing in my new unit I went to adjust one of the (empty) bars and the 7ft support wall flexed. It literally moved. I'm very concerned that this unit is not going to be able to stand up to the weight of our items and that the shelves are going to start sagging or bowing. There are corners on the drawers that have damage. He had me sign papers before he left saying everything was fine but I just wanted him to go so I signed them. It's now been 8hours w no reply from the company so im posting this. read more

Worked with Closets by Design in September. Installation promised and could not be delivered. Three weeks later they called to do the installation to find out that the representative had measure incorrectly. Back to the drawing board and a month later they sent rookie installers. 8 hour installation and completely inferior workmanship, drilled holes on the doors wrong, and gouged the trim. Did not finish the job. Sent a representative out a week later to look at the job and had to reorder all of the parts and remove the closets because of faulty installation. Another month went by and they called to schedule finally in December they finished the job. I received a call the Monday after the installation and they never asked how the job was done, only interested in getting paid. This company cant deliver what they promise. Poor Customer Service and would not recommend. read more

I am over the top excited by the design and look that was created. This was the 2nd job done by Closets by Design. We have contract for $7000 for my closets and we paid $7200. They gave a design on a grid paper which we (no one if first timer) don't understand. Designs were giving less shelves to save their money which i understand but when they install shelves are very minimal not even 60% of the space covered then we ordered some hampers from build.com to cover each section. They are very cheap in nature and try to get more price from you every possible way once contract done. I wouldn't recommend these guys at any price. They are thief's, they stole my handles from closet. I will complain to police tomorrow if they don't give them back. I just had my closet fixed by Closets by Design and they did a TERRIBLE job. Not only was my consultant, Beth, a fraud but she legitimately blamed the installer on her wrongful design. When the mistake was pictured and sent to the manager, I received a scathing phone call with ONE measly solution that did not help the situation at all. It was basically like you are out of luck type situation. I would NEVER recommend them to anybody. They are not only liars and frauds, but they are rude to their customers even in positions when they have wronged you. I completely understand that mistakes happen and it's not a big deal, but their approach from start to finish was beyond fathomable and simply unjustifiable. I essentially paid a lot of money for my clothes to still be on the floor in my room. Cannot stress enough how terrible their customer service was in addition to the royal mishap on the sketch for my closet. read more
