Closets By Design did an excellent job for us. The closet design work was creative and functional. The designer from Closets By Design met with us, took notes about our goals for storage, organization, and how we store our clothes. The designer listened and responded to our ideas and questions. The designer had practical ideas and solutions. We needed a closet design that fully used the closet. The closet before the new design was open space with a builder's basic one level, two level wire design. As my wife said to the designer as they were leaving, let's look at the pantry and two small bedroom closets. The design we considered and decided upon was a combination of multi-level hanging, multiple built in dressers , shoes galore storage and clean lines. We also had the pantry and two small closets redesigned. The pantry design is open shelves with seven pull it drawers. The pull out drawers allow s to see our pantry items. We discovered after the work that the old design did not allow us to see what was in the pantry. We realized post design we had six cans of diced tomatoes because we could not see pantry items and we kept rebuying the item. No more, with the new Closets ByDesign pantry we can see what we have very easily. The installers arrived on time and built the closet systems in two days. The installers Miguel aarrived on time, were polite, and were very efficient. They kept the work space clean. All in all the process was seamless. The closets make our lives organized and accessible. I absolutely swear by Closets by Design. This place literally changed my life. I recently bought a new home in DC, and liked many rowhomes in DC, I quickly realized how limited closet space I had. Closet by Design created a very efficient space saving design for 4 of my closets that allowed me to efficiently store all of my clothes and jewelry. I have to give a special shout out to Meg C. Meg was literally an angel and an expert designer. I was super nervous the entire time especially because I could not fit in my master bedroom. It was literally filled with bags and boxes of clothing. So my only hope was that investing, and I do mean investing, in these closets would work. I probably put Meg through a lot. I was very particular and wanted to make sure we were able to use every space available. Thank God it worked out. I ended up being able to store all of my clothing and still had enough space to acquire additional clothing! Highly recommend this company. Nevertheless, I do recommend checking several companies and comparing the designs you receive. Their pricing is competitive and they usually run good sales. I was able to get off 40% plus an additional 15%. You can't beat that. Also for folks complaining about pricing do research...custom closets cost PERIOD. They did a good job. I got the cheaper of the two (everyday or classic) but i did expect better material. The reason why i am fine with it is i paid for the convenience of not having to do anything. I got two (three technically) things i wanted done. I didn't have to measure or design it, and i didn't have to put it together, all i did was sign and pay. I also sanded and repainted the the holes from the old closet, and removed the old shelving, but they filled them. You should pull out the old closets on your own to save money. The original appointment couldn't be made, so they scheduled me out two months and still honored the deal. They set a date a month and a half out over two days to complete the work, they did it in one for the most part but they didn't have some pieces and had to come back a month later to finish the closets. The people they sent made a lot of noise with the process, i envisioned them ruining my hardwood and making a mess, but the finished product was nice and they cleaned up. I would use this company again next time. They dont do construction, but can work with the space they have, well. read more

Started the process in December and here it is June and they have still not completed the job. First they sent a new employee for the consult-- her measurements were off and she was not thorough at all--- missing huge details like outlets, vents and studd placement. This took several weeks to resolve resulting in lost time and the installation date kept getting pushed. Then I got a way better person who tried to save the project, but I'm still disappointed and dissatisfied with the service given the amount of money I'm spending. The installation crew was two hours late the first day and didn't have all the right pieces to complete the project. They lift fingerprints everywhere on my black unit that I've been unable to get off. I took off of work and cleared my schedule for the new date to finish, and I got a call the day before saying the wrong piece was ordered again and they needed to cancel my appointment that was supposed to be the very next day. I was told they would call me back within 1-2 days to reschedule again ..... and much like the service I've received, no one has called to give an update or a new date! I'm so frustrated with them and am having buyer's remorse already ! read more

Every step of creating a built-in closet was thorough and painless. From scheduling an appointment to the designer coming to our house and spending HOURS designing our dream closet and finally a quick (but sturdy) installation, we are pleased with everything. During the design process, Shelly really listened to our requests and included everything. She was also honest about pricing and if there were any details we much want to skip. On our installation day, Mostafa and his partner came earlier than expected (8:30, which I was happy with) and the completed the whole install in one day when it was advertised as two. We met with the designer Prerna Agarwal and she was really helpful. We sketched out a design at the house then sent us some mockups later. She actually made several version until we arrived at just the right look. The installation team did a great job. They did all the little things like, caulking, edge work, gaps, etc... without my needing to point it out or ask them about it. I'm really pleased with the project as a whole and plan to use them again for other closets and probably the garage.
