We used GBC to remodel our master bathroom. Burak was our designer, Charlie was our project manager, and Lee was the main contractor onsite. Overall the design experience was very nice, we liked their large showroom where we could see different options in different lighting. Burak was helpful and responsive to our questions, and we appreciated that he tried (and eventually succeeded) in expanding our shower to allow for a sliding door, which was better from a use and practicality perspective. Our only critique of the design process (and perhaps something we could've done better asking about) was communication about some of the materials and the cleaning associated with them. For example, we mentioned early on that we wanted low maintenance, easy-to-clean materials. Chrome was later recommended by GBC for our fixtures, which, we've come to find out, requires some additional TLC to keep it from getting visibly spotted. In addition, we were surprised to find out that the tiles in our shower floor were marble after the job was done- don't get me wrong, they are nice, but I was surprised we weren't told up front what they were made out of (and how to maintain/ clean them). So again, lesson learned on what we could do better and research, and something to keep in mind if you are thinking about working with them. In terms of the work itself, overall GBC did a great job keeping us updated on the latest status and consulting with us on placement and modifications. The work did take a few weeks longer than initially estimated, and though that is the risk with renovation, it wasn't due to a huge unforeseen issue. The workmanship was ok, but there was a surprising lack of attention to detail, especially given what we were paying for the job. Charlie did catch certain issues, but we were surprised that we had to point out other issues that we would've thought GBC would want to QA/QC for without relying on the client to point it out. The biggest thing that sticks out is GBC turned over the bathroom to us, all beautiful and shiny, and we come to find out the shower didn't work. We later found out it was due to a part defect, but we would've thought that the team would've tested the shower first to make sure everything was working correctly before turning it over. They did correct the problem quickly, which we appreciated. However, in another example, it was a bit disconcerting to have the onsite contractor ask us to not ask him to fix the tiling on the wall because it would entail more work for him. There have been a few minor things that we've flagged to them since the project was over and they have always been very responsive in getting back to us and sending someone out when needed. We've gotten a lot of compliments on the bathroom, and look forward to using it for years to come. read more

KITCHEN GUT JOB! Renovating a home can be scary... especially when the homeowners (us) aren't the "handiest" of people. We interviewed/solicited quotes from somewhere in the neighborhood of eight companies before finally making a decision. For us, a lot of the decision came down to candor, and of course, price. Many of the other companies we ventured to interview came across as "salesy"--boastful and quick to over promise. My experience with Alan at GBC Kitchen and Bath was the complete opposite, and I think much of our decision was a direct result of his demeanor. I felt like I could trust him, and that if he was unsure of something he would second, and triple check with industry SMEs to ensure his answers were indeed 100% correct. We live in a split-level home, and the kitchen remodel we had done was no small feat. Under Charlie and Barack's leadership/project management, GBC Kitchen and Bath took down two walls, installed an i-beam, rearranged the entire kitchen (to include electric, plumbing and gas), and laid flooring. It was every bit of a gut job--not to mention something that was completed with the likes of a six month old baby and dog in the house, too. The job was completed on time and within budget. We are big fans of HGTV, and as such, had seen many a remodel be turned upside down as a result of poor due diligence. Fortunately for us, we did not run into any major issues. There were a couple projects that were brought to light BEFORE signing of the contract (things that were out of our control and needed to be fixed), but these things could have easily costed way more had Alan and Charlie not worked together to come up with a creative solution. I would absolutely hire GBC Kitchen and Bath again, and would highly recommend them for any job you may be looking to do! read more

This review is only regarding GBC's customer service, not their actual remodeling/construction work. I set up an appointment for a kitchen remodel estimate for 6.22.2016 between 11 am and 12 pm. The designer arrived at 12:15. She said she was told the time window for the estimate was 12-12:30. She seemed to do a decent job of taking notes, measuring, etc and had some ideas for our kitchen. She said we'd get the estimate within 3 to 5 days. That was exactly one month ago. I have called the Alexandria office several times and each time I am told our designer is not in the office, asked for my contact information and told she will get back to me by the next day. Never happens. I also emailed her and got no response. I tried not to be a stalker and spaced out the phone calls and emails to one per week, allowing for the company to be busy over the summer and also for the July holiday weekend. I called on 7.20.2016 and asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and was told there were none in the office. Then I called one final time on 7.21.2016 and detailed the situation to a woman who sounded sympathetic and promised that she would look into it and either call me back herself or have the designer call me, by the end of the day. Obviously that did not happen. Since we're never going to get an estimate, we won't be using this company, but given their extremely poor customer service, I wouldn't use them anyway. Very disappointing considering they have BBB and Angie's List high ratings, apparently. In addition, the phone numbers for the Chantilly and Rockville showrooms are not in service (you only get a busy signal) so I am betting all calls are routed through the Alexandria showroom where no one seems to care. read more

We used GBC to re-model our kitchen in December 2018. The job included removing soffits and a pantry; adding an island; and installing cabinets, counters, and flooring (including flooring in an adjacent room). We gathered several different price quotes from various companies and GBC's bid was the least costly by a fair amount. Our designer was Luisa and she was very patient with us over a period of probably a couple of years. She did not bother us at all over that time unless we called her and she was fairly responsive to our ideas. The work took 3 weeks and they did an excellent job. They used the same crew for everything except the countertops (those were brought in and installed by the granite company). There were no special visits by electricians, plumbers, etc. Alex and his crew did everything. Our project was managed by Charlie who was always a phone call or text message away if we had a question or needed something addressed. Be aware that the kitchen remodeling experience is not without its' headaches - the crew does make some (minor) mistakes and the initial demolition is quite messy. But we found Alex and his team to be very responsive to anything we asked. Anything that wasn't right was fixed right away. We did have to supply a few items like a faucet, a garbage disposal, and paint. Oh and there were no big trash bins or anything like that outside the house. They carted everything away every day. We were very satisfied with both the price and the quality of the work and we would use them again. The job was completed on time and we didn't spend a penny more than the price on the contract. read more

From start to finish, the GBC team listened to my requests, guided me with the process from envisioning design, selecting the materials, delivering the materials to specifications, and performing the renovation jobs. Ms. Eda Yeniay proposed a few design concepts and materials. As someone who was aesthetically challenged, she helped me with choosing the design and color coordination that would stand the test of time. More importantly, she selected high quality materials consistent with the vision. Mr. Charlie Ozdemir was an experienced project manager who ensured that the process would be executed smoothly, on time, and on budget. He excelled in those areas as well as he listened very carefully to and answered all of my questions. I also could not be happier by the skilled craftsmen led by Mr. Ever who executed all the designs and concepts leading to desirable outcomes. Throughout the process, GBC always came up with solutions to possible issues. I really did not have to worry about having the contractor mess up the job. I have now fully renovated, updated, aesthetically pleasing, and modern bathrooms suitable for 21st century. I will entrust GBC again with my kitchen project in the future. An absolutely amazing kitchen remodel experience with GBC! After vetting a few different design companies & contractors in the area, GBC was the only one that provided me the reassurances and price point that made me feel comfortable enough to take the plunge on such a massive investment for my home. Fabian was collaborative and forthright during the design process. He showed an immense amount of patience when highlighting options, which ultimately made me & my wife secure with our decisions. Guvan, our PM, was simply a joy. A person always with a smile on his face, who's only goal is to make sure his clients are happy with the experience and end result. Constantly in communication with the crew and myself, Guvan would always bring up matters or issues to my attention before I even noticed them myself. We had a bathroom totally remodeled by GBC (everything was torn out down to the sub-flooring and to the cinderblock walls and was then replaced and rebuilt), and the experience was very positive. Eda the designer was very pleasant to work with, gave us great ideas and provided us with very detailed design drawings, product specifications and costs before we committed to the job. She also gave us a firm timeline as to when the job would start and approximately how long it would take to finish. They started exactly when they promised, and finished in the time-frame they had estimated. The quality of the work was very good and the workers were very flexible and responsive to my ideas as the work progressed. There were several minor issues (loose towel bar, drain stopper that didn't close tight, and slight leak along the glass shower enclosure) which took several call-backs to fix, but the project manager (Charlie) was very diligent in keeping after these issues until they were resolved. GBC provides a 2-year warranty to stand by their work and will come back to fix any issues that may appear during that time. All of the people I dealt with were very courteous, respectful and professional. I definitely recommend them for kitchen and bath remodeling work! read more

After living in the new space for over six weeks, I can comfortably say the overall experience of working with my designer, Yaprak, and the onsite crew was excellent. Yaprak, worked with me step by step throughout the entire renovation process from the first onsite visit, estimate proposal, material selection, and all of my follow-on questions and concerns throughout the planning and renovation process. She was always very patient and accommodating to my overthinking and second guessing. Yaprak, quickly responded to all of my inquiries even on her days and times out of the office. We looked for months trying to find the right people to completely redo our outdated, falling-apart kitchen. Most everyone we talked with couldn't figure out how to give us an organized new kitchen using the existing footprint. Many designers and companies came in expecting us to pay $30,000+ OVER what we wanted to spend. Once we called GBC Kitchen and Bath in Ashburn it all fell into place. Alan (designer) worked WITH us helping to narrow down our design ideas. He listened to our organizing needs, gave different options with price ranges, and was not pushy in any way. Once the remodel began Ramon (project manager) came to the house and looked at the kitchen talking WITH us and asking questions to be 100% sure of what our vision was. He was in constant contact with us letting us know the daily schedule and making sure were comfortable with the changes every step of the way. I HIGHLY recommend GBC Kitchen and Bath for any remodel work you may need! I recently completed a full kitchen remodel with GBC Kitchen and Bath, and could not be happier. My remodel comprised of removing multiple walls, moving/adding electrical and plumbing, putting in all new cabinets and countertops, painting, redoing the ceilings (no more pop corn ceilings!), and replacing over 1,000 sq ft of flooring. The designer (George) worked with me to design my dream kitchen, all the way down to the grout color on the backsplash. The PM (Charlie) was extremely responsive to my emails and answered all of my questions during the renovation. The team actually doing the work (led by Alex) was on time every day, extremely professional, and worked with me to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. Best part: The said it would take around 4-5 weeks to complete, but these rockstars were able to get the entire project done in just over 3 weeks! Recently had our kitchen remodeled (new cabinets, new microwave and dishwasher, new sink and faucet, new lighting, etc.) Overall job well done. There were a few unanticipated issues that had to be addressed during the remodeling, but all were resolved. Special mention to the GBC representative (George Bryon) who prepared and coordinated the design phase. Mr. Bryon was always courteous and professional and was easy to deal with as we went through the painstaking task of selecting cabinets, countertop and flooring options. The work of the onsite crew led by Mr. Manuel Romano was very professional. Special note to the manner in which they prepared and cleaned the worksite every day. Finally cost, We researched multiple contractors and while GBC was not the lowest price, they were very competitive. We selected them after evaluating several factors, including cost. 11/17/2018 My husband and I needed our Master bathroom refurbished. We went with GBC flooring kitchen and Bath since it was so close to our house. Burac came to the house and carefully measured the space and designed the new bathroom cabinets and counter tops and showed us many choices for the handles. He did his plan quite fast and neat and allowed me to review and update anything I wanted from the design. We picked out quality lighting to accent the new bathroom. Mario and Alberto were the professional workers that came to our home and they were very pleasant and cheerful. They were very hard working and we appreciated their competency and their neatness. They had all the carpeted stairs and flooring covered with plastic before they began their work. They finished the work in the time frame we agreed upon. We couldn't be more pleased with our new bathroom. We definitely will use them again on our next project. read more

Bathroom Remodel We gutted and renovated an old bathroom from 1939 for this project. This involved removing and relocating all the fixtures in the bathroom, including the bathtub and reconfiguring all the plumbing. GBC did an excellent job and completed the project on time and at the proposed cost. GBC's proposed cost was the most competitive that we received. Project design was smooth and efficient and the project was started quickly. The workers were polite, respectful of the house, kept us informed of when work would take place and cleaned up every day. Dust control was excellent. There were almost no days without progress on the project. The tile work, painting and finishing were all professional quality. The overall quality of the work was excellent and we are very pleased with the aesthetic and stylish outcome of the project. We would definitely use GBC again. read more

We recently have one of our bathrooms remodeled by GBC. Pedro from GBC is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is the best. He is very knowledgeable, cooperative and understanding. We went to their nice showroom in Rockville, MD. He helped us selecting the materials for Bathroom remodeling. Also, we had little bit of time issue but he scheduled everything very nicely and completed the job way ahead of time. He had a great team. Diego did a very high quality job. We are very impressed with the professionalism, and work ethic of the entire team who were on the project. They arrived promptly each morning, worked through till the evening and cleaned up the job site each evening prior to leaving. GBC is affordable and reliable. We are very happy with our new bathroom. GBC recently completed a major kitchen renovation for us. The renovation included removing load bearing walls, lots of electrical work, moving HVAC and electrical as well as new flooring installation throughout the entire house. GBC's price was very competitive compared to other kitchen & bath/contractor companies. The crew that did the work were all very respectful and professional. The kitchen cabinets that we got were of good quality and the guys did a great job installing them. With all the major work we had done, we of course had to obtain multiple permits from the county. When inspection time came, we passed with flying colors, which indicates that GBC and their crew knew what they were doing. And to top it off, they finished the project on time. GBC Kitchen and Bath did a fabulous job on my kitchen remodel! Pedro and Luisa were excellent to work with from start to finish. They communicated well and followed through on all contract aspects. Timeframes were met, the project cost was reasonable, the quality of the workmanship was very good. They were also flexible and allowed for some adjustments to the contract without price increases. Henry, the craftsman who did the demolition, cabinet installation, backsplash and misc construction was amazing. He was very efficient, flexible, multi-talented and willing to do whatever needed to be done to make my kitchen just as I envisioned.
